Lovely villa in a stunning location with amazing all round views
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Shabilla Villa prior to moving to Tarifa for a family wedding. We were a mixed family party of adults , young adults and children and the villa was perfect for everyone to have room to chill out and the pool was a definite winner for all. The villa is very well equipped and we cooked all our meals there ..only leaving to get supplies from Lidl down the road. The only thing we didn't use was the tv ...there was no need!
Overall 5 stars from us and 5 stars for Anneliese the property manager who answered all my questions prior to our visit and was there to meet us when we arrived.
We will definitely be returning.
Fantastic. See you again soon!
A really lovely private villa in rural Andalusia
A really lovely private villa in rural Andalusia. Anneliese made sure everything was ok in the booking and arrival process.
We found a car to be non-essential, though that I think depends on the makeup of your group. We are a group of 6 couples in our late 20s and we were happy to stay in the house and enjoy ourselves around the pool, cook large meals for lunch and dinner using the barbeque and kitchen, and sit round the large dining table undercover outside into the night.
The sheer size of the villa makes it easy to change the scenery and not get cabin fever at all, there's also the roof terrace and the wrap-around 1st floor veranda.
Lidl is about 25 mins away on a solo march with a podcast or closer to 40 with a mixed group chatting and walking. The food and booze is incredibly cheap and they had everything to keep us going all week. Recommend the barbacoa y miel BBQ honey wings, and the lovely 2013 riserva rioja.
With the heat you want to get back from Lidl by about 11am or leave after 8pm as you'll be carrying your shopping. The petrol garage sell charcoal and firelighters for the barbecue, and also have a cigarette machine and do a few other bits you can't find in Lidl.
Alhaurin de la Torre is about 1hr walk away for an evening of drinks and tapas also. Taxi from the airport is 25 euro each way.
We couldn't have possibly enjoyed our stay here more.
Thank you for such an informative review. I love that you have even recommended a certain wine!
This is such important reading for future guests considering not having a car. I have always said I believe it is essential but you proved it is not. However, your point regarding group make up is vital. Many guests would not consider a 40 minute walk to Lidl (7 minutes in the car) let alone 1 hour into town (10 minutes in the car) and I know what that hill is like, particularly in the heat of the day.
Hope to see you all again.
Large well equipped villa, beautiful pool area and very helpful host
We visited as a family of 9 which included 5 children of varying ages. We hoped that the pool would be the highlight and it definitely was. Large, with a stepped shallow end, it was cleaned bi weekly, the area around it had loads of loungers, 2 separate seating areas with places to eat and plenty of shelter too.
The kitchen is relatively small but well equipped, the oven was small for our party but there is a separate oven and fridge/freezer in the bbq area.
Netflix available on large tv, great for kids.
15 mins drive to airport and closest supermarket is a 10 min drive away, you will need a car.
House felt secure, locks on all doors and patio windows.
Balcony wraps around the 2nd floor and there's a open roof for sunbathing and looking at the beautiful views.
The interior could do with a bit of modernisation, some of the wardrobes in the bedrooms had doors which did not fully open but there was plenty of storage space.
Air con worked well on the whole but is on a timer system to prevent overuse, during the night it went off after 2 hours, so would have to be switched back on if the room was still hot.
Communication with the host was top notch, she was on hand to answer any queries though we didn't really need to call her.
Overall, a lovely family property.
Thank you for such a detailed, informative review. I am so glad you enjoyed your family time here. Thank you, also, for bringing my attention to a couple of points.
There is no reason for the wardrobe doors to not open fully and I will therefore have them inspected and adjusted as soon as possible to reduce inconvenience to other guests. The one you had a problem with during your holiday has already been removed.
Air conditioning power cut off switches are very common in this part of Spain, particularly with the recent introduction of the new holiday regulations making air conditioning in bedrooms and living areas obligatory. It prevents units being left on all day when guests go out, for example. Ours have settings from 15 minutes to 2 hours. I will put a note of this on the description in the advert so that future guests are aware.
wery good with lot of space and placed in quiet surrounddings only 4km from a Fine town .
All comunication was pleasent and Quick . Fine view ower the area. Nice and clean Swimmingpool. All Rooms were prepared for us at arriving . And the owner were to welcome us. We were 8 adults and 2 children both 1 year and it was appropriate for us.
Thank you. I am so glad you enjoyed Shabilla Villa.
Wonderful time in a lovely situated house with nice swimming pool.
Perfect service. The wifi didn't work. The landlady fixed it by bringing a new router herself after resetting didn't work.
Thank you. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay.
Location for our trainingscamp.
We had a lovely stay at villa Shabilla. Everything we needed was available. We had two rental cars for 12 people. Most of the days we were training in the morning about 10 O'clock in Torremolinos. We arrived back at the villa about 13.30. After lunch we tried to relax a bit at the swimmingpool or in our bedroom or the livingroom. About 16 O'clock we went off for the second training of the day. Afterwards we cooked a big meal or went out to Alharin de la Torre for a local restaurant. We did it by walking in 30 minutes. That was okay for us because we are athletes. For other trips we took the cars. We also had two BBQ's at the villa which was lovely. Shabilla Villa is a great villa with all the facilities you wish for. It' s located in a very quiet area but within a few minutes by car you can find a lot of activity. The owner was also very helpfull and kind to us. Maybe we will go there again next year.
Group athletes and coaches of Holland.
Thank you. I do hope you come back for a visit next year!
A car is essential when staying at Shabilla villa but I am happy that you have proved that people can walk into town if they want to. I am sure you would not have wanted to do it with bags of shopping!
This villa is in what feels like an away from it all rural location as it sits in it's own grounds surrounded by fields of fruit trees with views which stretch for miles down to the sea. Yet it is only a few minutes in the car to the bustling, lively town of Alhaurin de la Torre with it's huge selection of good quality restaurants, bars and cafes. There are high quality supermarkets, family run specialist shops, a daily indoor market and a weekly outdoor market. Only a few more minutes drive and you can be on the beach at Torremolinos or one of the many local golf courses. Malaga City is only a 15 minute drive away for those who wish to visit the Picasso museum, the Pompidou centre, the castle, Roman ruins or cosmopolitan cruise liner port. Marbella and Puerto Banus are half an hour's drive away.
Extra charge of 5 pounds per person per night for guests 11 to 14 (ie over 10 guests).
