This house is on a quiet cove on Kinderhook lake. It has been newly renovated within the past two years. And has a great old time camp feel. There are two full bedrooms on the main floor, including a loft with two twin beds. Downstairs there are also two bedrooms; one with two twin beds and the other with two triple bunk beds. 2 full bathrooms, one upstairs, one downstairs. This house is about a scenic 2 hour drive from NYC, and about 30 minutes from Albany.Prefect for a weekend getaway. In the winter, nearby Jiminy Peak and Catamount make for a perfect opportunity to ski or snowboard. The house also has a fireplace, full kitchen, and living room. Outside, there is an upper and lower deck, perfect for barbecues and summer fun. Nearby are villages Chatham and Hudson, perfect for antiquing and exploring, with lots of great places to eat. Possible summer activities include kayaking, fishing, hiking and golfing. Good for families looking for a relaxing vacation. Come enjoy all the Hudson Valley has to offer!
No Pets, No Smoking ..Please
We love the lake the mountains and the outdoors...I have rebuilt this house to recreate that old camp feel. one tv no cable. only movies for you and the kids.. no dishwasher old school everyone chips in. The main area is set up with a great open feel, so everyone can be together.
Usually there is no one on the lake during the week even in the summer, very quiet.... winters are outstanding.. skiing /snowboarding close enough to totally enjoy. sled down the side yard at night.
The house is beautiful and well-appointed, and John couldn't have been nicer. We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back someday!
We booked the Kinderhook house for a family reunion over a three-day weekend this October. There were nine of us total – seven adults and two children – and we had a wonderful time. There was plenty of space in the house, with more than enough rooms and beds for everyone to feel comfortable. We cooked together, carved pumpkins, and went kayaking on the lake. We even had a campfire by the shore one night. The area was quiet and peaceful, and a nice place to go on a walk around the lake with the kids. There are also plenty of activities to do nearby, like hiking and apple picking at nearby farms. Lots of opportunities for bird watching as well – we saw two bald eagles!!
The house itself was clean and cozy, with rustic decorations giving it a lived-in, homey feeling. Although it took a while to kick in, you can't beat the toasty floor heating! Our feet had no complaints. The kitchen is generally well-equipped; that said, it would have been nice if there was a greater variety of pot sizes available, as it would have made cooking meals for such a large group of people less complicated and more convenient.
We enjoyed spending time here! We heartily recommend it to others, and hope to be back ourselves next year.
We've been here for 2 months and, sadly, it's time to go home. We've had an amazing time in this wonderful house. It's large, comfortable, and airy. The photos don't do the house justice. There are paddle boards and kayaks for getting out on the lake, two (!) decks with comfortable furniture, and grassy areas if you prefer. The towels are fluffy, the kitchen well stocked, there are enough serving bowls and platters for a crowd. There isn't cable (I think that a plus) but there is wi-fi for computer access, a DVD player, and a deluxe Scrabble set. Close enough to Chatham, Hudson, and the Berkshires to enjoy those attractions. We had several very hot days but the AC in the bedrooms was fine. We look forward to returning.
Absolutely the best value of all Kinderhook lake rentals. House is perfect and on quiet cove of lake. All amenities provided for. Great for families and groups. We are "Senior" women that do a kayak week each year. The two bathrooms are a real plus. This was probably the best property yet. Don't be fooled by the front view. There is tons of space. Also Valatie a nd Hudson area is great and also close to the Berkshires.
and the "Paddle Pushers".
We rented the house for 3 nights. Unfortunately we left after two.
The house itself was very nice, nicely decorated, clean sheets and towels.
However there was no A/C in the living area of the house, only the bedrooms had units in the windows.
There was no WiFi and no cable.
Was not pleasant
From the moment we arrived, we felt at home and comfortable. Fully stocked, with everything we needed.
We were in the area for our daughter's wedding, so we had family and friends staying with us. With plenty of beds to sleep in, everyone was comfortable.
We took advantage of the kitchen for meals, and the two-story deck gave a magnificent view of the lake.
Wish we could have stayed longer; we will definitely be back to take advantage of the kayaks and fishing!
Overall, a great place to relax and have fun.
The entire Hudson Valley region has so much to offer for every season.
