About Amanda Clements

We were lucky enough to come to Cheddar in 2000 and made it our home.

We love being at the foot of the Mendips for walking, mountain biking and general outdoors activities but also close enough to Bristol and Bath for city life too.

Blackberry Lodge sits on our 2 acre site where we also have a 4 BED, 2 Bathroom property and a 'sister' lodge to Blackberry known as Strawberry Lodge, all 3 are available to holidaymakers.

Amanda Clements purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Amanda Clements chose Cheddar

We'd like to think it's now a fantastic romantic base from which to explore and is both peaceful yet really close to whatever form of 'action' you enjoy!

Spent a long time searching for the right lodge and we are so happy we picked this one, great value for money. Greeted upon arrival made to feel very welcome, beautiful lodge, very clean. Lots to do only a few minuets away, lots of ideas in booklets provided. The hosts offers us use of their bikes which was lovely. Would 100% recommend!

Lovely property in the heart of Cheddar

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay in this lodge. Ideal location for cheddar and an easy walk to Axbridge. The lodge itself was maintained very well and very clean. Would highly recommend, and look forward to booking again!

Wonderfully comfortable, well equipped and peaceful - just what we wanted.

  • 5 of 5

Following the directions given, access to the cabin was simple. The cabin was exactly as described and clean and very well equipped throughout. We were quickly greeted by the housekeeper, who welcomed us to the cabin and showed us where everything was. All amenities were a short drive away and we found ourselves quickly settled in for a comfortable and quiet stay. A thoroughly relaxing time was had. The only negative was having to leave this little oasis at the end of our stay. We have no hesitation in recommending Blackberry Lodge wholeheartedly and look forward to repeating the experience soon. Thank you very much.

Cosy relaxing weekend retreat

  • 5 of 5

Despite the torrential rain in the middle of summer (typical british summertime) our weekend away wasn't rained off. Brilliant location close to lots of areas to visit. Log burner came in handy to keep cosy away from the weather. Lodge had everything we needed, description was spot on.

Enjoy a glass of wine whilst relaxing in front of the woodburner, or venture out and explore Somerset, Bristol and Bath.

Offering delightful holiday accommodation for a couple, Blackberry Lodge enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. It benefits from a peaceful semi-rural setting yet is within walking distance of all that Cheddar has to offer.

Cheddar village (less than a mile away) offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Shops, pubs and restaurant less than 1 mile.
