|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Thank you very much for looking at our listing. First off, this little place has been called home in our family for over 20 years and we are happy to share it with you.
Our home offers a full kitchen equipped with all cooking essentials: gas oven and stove top, kitchen aid mixer, all plates, bowls, cups and cutlery and all baking and cooking utensils. We've installed a brand new refrigerator and a brand new espresso machine. You'll find the pantry stocked with an assortment of teas and cider as well as other spices and dry goods.
There are two main bedrooms in the home and one and half baths. Currently the bedrooms have a queen bed and a double--Perfect for a family of 4!!
We want you to feel at home--we currently don't offer any internet or WIFI as we really want families to be able to 'unplug' and connect in other ways--whether it be with board games or cards or just heading outside to see what Montana's wonders can offer (travel and activity brochures are located in the home as well).
Our home also has a wonderful sun deck that overlooks a beautiful creek running through the back yard. Let your small kids try their luck with a fly rod and they could catch one of many small brook trout!!!! :)
This is our home. It's filled with wonderful memories and my wife's mom worked very hard to keep it clean, to keep it updated and maintained. We hope you notice how much we love it and we honestly hope this place will be a home you can continue to come back to over the years.
Lastly, there is one caveat about the rental area. Trains. I'm aware there are a number of train enthusiasts around the world. That said, the home is situated closely to the railroad tracks and without mincing words: it is noisy. We hope this won't deter you from visiting and spending time at our home.
Glacier Park is only an 8 min drive away.
Glacier International Airport is only 21 minutes away.
Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort is 39 minutes away.
The entire area is open to first class winter and summer activity and if you call me personally I will be happy answer any questions you might have on the area. My wife and I grew up here and we are proud Montanans :)
My wife and mother-in-law grew up in this home.
It's been a wonderful place over the years to visit for our own family now and when my mother-in-law passed we just knew we didn't want to sell it, nor rent it out to single renters, but share it with others.
We feel our rates are affordable in comparison to what you'll find in the area and we feel that low rate allows for more guests to come through and see a wonderful area of Montana.
Rod Foster purchased this house in 1995
The deck, the creek, and the surround sound music system. What's better than getting together with friends and family and enjoying some good food, drinks and company in the sunshine or under the stars and listening to some of your favorite music.
We stayed at this property in August for a few nights and the location of the house was great but I don't know if I would stay there again. As stated, you're right next to train tracks....and the trains are loud and honk their horns when they go by. At night it seemed to be every 15-20 minutes a train would go by. When I booked we were told that there were two roll aways for extra guests. When we got there, there was only one because the other one was broken. Thankfully one of the guests in our group carried on her twin air mattress so
It wasn't a problem. When I inquired about the other roll away being broke, the owner just kind of responded with "it's broken, sorry". Also, it was warm when we stayed and I'm fine without air conditioning but it would be nice if you could acually open up some Windows. The only Windows that had screens was the window in the master and a small one in the kitchen. They have a coffee pot that needs special pods, there weren't any there when we arrived and the grocery store that we went to didn't carry them. I emailed the owner and the next day we had some pods for coffee but they expect you to pay for the pods as you use them?! Really? It'd honestly be easier to just buy a cheap $15 coffee pot. Overall, the house was ok but a little disappointing in how things were managed.
The property was as described in the owner's summary. They do disclose that this is an older property and it is close to the train tracks - very close. The location to amenities is great. It's 10-15 min from the West Glacier entrance, close to gas stations, grocery, and a handful of restaurants - although we mostly cooked at the house. We enjoyed the back deck, bbq pit, and the stream was a big hit with my toddler. We met the neighbor to right, who was very nice and let our kids run around his backyard near the horses. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, pots, pans, etc. The interior is eclectic, which we found interesting and fun. The train IS loud, especially going northbound, the horn is blown right in front of the house. While, it's loud, we found it to be funny, and did get accustom to it after a few nights. I've knocked off a "star" due to the front windows not having screens. The kitchen and master bedroom did have screens, and a few fans were provided. Not sure when we'll get to come back to Montana, but we would consider this place again.
Should warn customers about the very frequent rail traffic across the street. Very surprised that it did not have a dish washer, washing machine and dryer. i.e. Should be considered a cottage and not a home. Great back yard with stream for the children to play around. Greagt pattio with gas grill.
Kids loved the train and being so close to the tracks. Enjoyed our stay.
It was nice. People were very accommodating. For us it was a little to close to the railroad tracks but it was a short stay so all is well. Very much an old home and very interesting. Kids watched a lot of DVD's when we weren't out sightseeing.
This house was a home away from home for us! There were 6 of us including 4 kids. This was perfect for our week vacation. Great location, close to everything. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need and there was plenty of room for all of us. The patio was a great place to relax with the creek right below, and a place to cook s'mores. This was perfect for our family and will hopefully be staying on our next visit to the flathead valley!
Thanks Rod and Heather!!!
Big Sky Waterslide is only 10 minutes away.
World class skiing and golfing in whitefish, only 21 miles away.
Great fine dining @ the three forks grille in columbia falls and exceptional fine dining as well in Whitefish.
Glacier National Park, the crown jewel of the continent, is just in our back yard and offers year round hiking, tele-skiing, rafting, fishing, camping and sight-seeing!
Please feel free to call us as well should you have any questions or just want to chat up a local. We're here to help and make sure your stay at our home and stay in Montana is one you won't forget!!!
