About the property

Bright And Airy With 1 Bedroom And 1 Bath, Comfortable And Quiet Setting

This cozy cottage is set back from the street & offers a quiet location with giant oaks and fruit trees. Special details throughout make this a 'one of a kind gem' Step back in time, feel like you have left the world behind. Newly renovated with vintage touches. We have designed this cottage to be a comfortable little retreat: 6 blocks, 10 minute walk to town. Two porches make this tiny home feel roomy, with a comfortable main room with a kitchen nook and breakfast area. Take your coffee out onto the porch where a day bed awaits for relaxing or reading. The bedroom offers 2 comfortable twin beds and the renovated bath room features a claw foot tub with a shower. Wireless wi-fi and a TV for relaxing and watching DVD's. There is a nice back yard, plenty of room for parking and we suggest bringing bikes for exploring, but just walking around Mount Dora's cottage community is delightful.

About Allura Henderson

I grew up in Florida and my family has lived there since the 1960's. My parents lived outside of Orlando but retired to Mount Dora 10 years ago because of it's charm and slower pace of life. We purchased this cottage to be close to my parents when we came to visit them. We have already enjoyed many family times here and we hope that our guests will enjoy it as we do.

Why Allura Henderson chose Central Florida

This cottage was handed down through time from relatives who took good care of it and decided to completely renovate it. When we first walked inside I knew it was a perfect fit. It has been fun to do the finishing touches that the family started: completely rewired, repainted, new roof new HVAC, saving the special touches and adding a few twists of our own. Our family loves getting away from it all with visits to this darling cottage and quaint town.

What makes this cottage unique

The Bunny Hutch reminds one of a little Maine Coast cottage, but the winter here offers orange trees and windows open to tropical breezes. (There is heat in the main cottage and comforters on the beds for cold nights). Being close to downtown you can go for a stroll for morning coffee and get home in time for a nap on the sun porch. The town of Mount Dora offers many wonderful festivals and fairs, check the website for local activities.

Relaxing step back to old Florida

  • 5 of 5

The Bunny Hutch fits perfectly in lovely historic Mount Dora. Possibly built in the twenties, it is picturesque, comfortable and so relaxing.

I stayed for a week-slept soundly-had a.m. coffee on the porch- walked or biked around town usually ending at Palm Island to enjoy the wildlife.

My favorite vacation ever-I'll be back ASAP to decompress again.

Owner's Response: Dear Amanda, I am so happy that you enjoyed your vacation. You found my favorite spot, Palm Island. The huge alligator that hangs out in the water was probably hibernating for the winter though. (Maybe that’s a good thing!) It's definitely is a spot to chill, thank you for the good review. All the best, Allura

I enjoyed the stay in Mount Dora. I would have liked to have regular TV available for local current news and weather. The manager and another neighbour were quite helpful.

Cute, Quaint Little Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for all the love you put into this cottage! Our long weekend stay was perfect! It's amazing how many necessities you made available for your guests. We seemed to have everything we needed and then some.

Notes: Very Clean! Walking Distance to quite a few places and downtown. Mermaid Juice beer garden was perfect walking distance :) Great Couples Retreat. We didn't even watch TV...

It was a pleasure staying at your property!

it's your little home

  • 5 of 5

it is your little home while your there. we stayed 19 days. we cooked, we sat on the porch each and every day. we ate in town now and again. we slept well which is not always or ever the case. there was always help from next door or across the street.the cottage is decorated in an eclectic homey style with old, new. not enough pots for us as it was such a long stay. but certainly more than enough for a weeks stay or so. each transaction was easy. it was a great choice and we would recommend it to old, young, active, not active. a lovely easy stay.

Car: recommended

One of our favorite walks is a beautiful board walk along Lake Dora called Palm Island, from which you can view beautiful wildlife where we have spotted a pair of bald eagles, baby alligators and one very large Gator who patrols the area.
