Hi & welcome to my listing for my very special apartment in sunny Spain.This is an unusually large apartment taking up the ground floor of the block.Every other floor has two apartments in the same space.There are four double bedrooms,one with a double bed,the others with twin beds,two have sea views.

Rather wonderfully,there is also a sea view from the large bath(it accommodates 2),but only if you are sitting at the the right end !


In response to our first summer's experience(Which has been really good !) I am installing a second fridge, & have bought a set of lightweight beach chairs.See I listen ! ***********************************************************************************For the TOWIE fans out there,we are about 5 mins from Olivia's in La Cala

Two bathrooms,one with access from two bedrooms (a Jack & Gill bathroom),a fully fitted kitchen with a washer/drier,fridge/freeze,dishwasher,oven,hob & microwave. The dining table sits 8,& the crockery & dishes reflect this.Internet is about 25 mps,but we are promised fibre soon (mañana)

There is a full width balcony for evenings spent putting the world to right over a glass of something nice.

The entire apartment is air conditioned & heated & we also have ceiling fans for those who dislike air con.

There is a garden immediately in front of the balcony where some of the local children play,its really rather old school.

There is a newly refurbished communal pool that has been upgraded to meet the new health & safety requirements

The Andalucian authority is introducing a new system of holiday lets registration & monitoring to raise standards & ensure properties are safe.It is not up & running yet,but we already exceed those standards.

The property has been extensively refurbished & in particular,has been completely rewired.

This is a real find.It is perfect for a young family,or two families sharing,there's room to bring unpaid babysitters (I believe some people call them grandparents)

Alternatively it is a stylish location for those that appreciate the simple pleasures of life.Good food,good wine,an unspoilt beach yards away ,near perfect weather.

This area has a huge range of golf courses within easy reach & all competing for your patronage,which keeps costs very competitive.

Lastly,I have family living 10 min away for any emergencies.

If you require a low cost private transfer from the airport,this can be easily arranged.

I really do think that the "shoulder season" is the best time to visit if you can

Re-read the listings for the other properties that you are considering. Which side of the main road are they ?

Many people list as "within easy reach of the beach etc",but these properties can be in the middle of some of the many large sprawling communities that are built further & further inland each year.Some of the properties can also be virtually impossible to find on these large estates.

If you need a car to get to the beach,where are you going to park it ?

We walk to the beach !

There is a large amount of private parking for the property.

There is a small commercial centre about 100m or so away with banks,post office,bars,restaurants,supermarkets,cafes - everything you could want. Because the block is set back from the road by about 70 m and there are lot of mediterranean pine trees,they provide both shade & sound "insulation"

What makes this apartment unique

One of the things that has really impressed me is the way that the local government has responded to the economic downturn.Instead of cutting expenditure back they have invested in the tourism infrastructure .There is a newly built sendero ( a wooden boardwalk) that runs for miles along the coast,opening up previously hidden beaches.

The whole area is recovering well & investing in refurbishment & growth.Its a very up beat vibe.

We have 2 full size single beds that are stored under the existing beds in the "Chinese" bedroom.They fit into the bedroom when made up,but with not a lot of room to spare.You would be walking over each other's beds.This would be great fun for children ,but probably not for older golfers ! We don't have a cot at the moment,but if you needed one that could be easily arranged I made a joking reference to the proximity of the main regional hospital,but the level of service there puts the NHS to shame,& you are entitled to emergency care using your European Health Card (Despite the Brexit vote,this arrangement stays in place until we actually leave the EU.Given the massive dependency that the Spanish economy has on tourism,particularly from the UK,I really don't think there will any issues at all )

Stunning location and fabulous accommodation. Great value and would highly recommend. 5*

We stayed for 5 nights with our four late 20's children. The accommodation is very comfortable, spacious and homely with lots of things to do; TV, playstaion, board games to name a few.

There is a great beach on your doorstep, for 6 euros each you get a sunbed with a very thick mattress, parosol, drink and some olives!

We would love to come back again.

Loved the location of the apartment so near to beach and pool.

Apartment was nice but could have gone with a good clean, we couldnt get TV to work , there was a spring sticking out of one of the beds and no bed guard on the top bunk. Other than that a nice apartment and great location.

Fabulous apartment in a lovely quiet location.

This apartment is stunning and very spacious a perfect spot for families. The pool (has no shallow end for younger kids) and the beach are right beside each other and just a short walk from the apartment.

There are plenty of lovely restaurants in the Dona Lola complex just a five minute walk up the road (I recommend the Look-Inn) to suit all tastes. On the beach the Beuna Vista is a lovely and makes a really good pizza!

We had a wonderful time and will be back thanks so much Chris.

Plenty of room for large family 8 persons.

The owner has tried hard to make apartment comfortable with very dark furniture. Brighter would be nice. We had a good stay only spoiled by situations outside the owners control or need to be addressed by him. This appears to be an area resided in by Spanish or Spanish holidaying? They are very vocal and noise was constant into the small hours especially from children. Constant banging of internal and external doors was the norm and furniture being pushed around. Being on bottom floor ment you got a steady flow of coming and goings with at times loud arguments outside your front door. Dogs were everywhere in the complex with owners giving little or no consideration to barking at all hours and dog poo in the streets and walkways. Parking was at a premium in the area and cars were everywhere with blockages guaranteed every day. Building work on the apartment next door to,us ment drilling and hammering from 745 am on weekdays and two large fully loaded rubbish skips parked in residential spaces at front door. The whole complex looks tired and renovations will be ongoing I fear. I do not know if the building work caused an influx of huge cockroaches but we were constantly evicting them from our aparmment when they gained access with ease under the front door. They were in the shower,bedrooms, kitchen, and lounge. I hate them but it's Spain after all and indigenous. The pool was minimal with regard to beds or shelter and I felt any one and everyone was using it with or without keys as it lay open often. The noise was such that I personally walked a short distance to the beach and paid 6 euro for a comfortable bed and shelter. The beach is close and the wooden boardwalk well maintained. The sea is a clamber over rocks and pebbles so wear beach shoes or you will get hurt. The apartment was clean when we took it over except for the ceiling fans in the lounge which the owner need to address with his cleaning company. Broken tiles in the bathroom nearest front door are noisy and potentially could injure someone in time. The problematic sewer servicing the toilet there can be smelly but is in fairness being addressed by owner and local services. Lots of first class restaurants in walking distance but are generally pricey with our family of 4 adults and 2 children costing around 130 - 150 Euro for evening meal. Wine not included in this cost. BBQ at the apartment would be a cheaper option but the very narrow balcony does not lend itself to this cooking. Returning No

Owner's Response: Thank you for your views.I am sorry that your stay fell short of your expectation .I think it would be helpful to respond separately to those elements within my control & those without . I was unaware of the broken tiles in the bathroom,I will attend to that asap and will arrange for the fan blades in the lounge to be cleaned .The decor is obviously a matter of taste ,but is well illustrated in the listing photos ,which I feel are comprehensive .I do make it clear that this is an older block in a predominately residential Spanish area .It is scheduled to be repainted this autumn . This area of Spain is very popular with both Spaniards & other nationals . Most are attracted by the liveliness of the area .One element that attracted me to the apartment was its relative quietness within this area - I accept that is a relative value . Other aspects of this are cultural .The Spanish do stay up late, particularly in the heat of August & children are included much more in the family activities . The victorian maxim that children should be seen & not heard never made it to Spain ! Similarly,locals will park anywhere ,but this property has much more parking than usual ,and warning signs that unauthorised cars will be towed & impounded ! The pool is crowded in August,but it is a good sized pool with a generous grassed surround accessible only by key .I wouldn't enjoy a pool full of excitable children either, ( mainly because mine have grown up !) ,but the beach is very close, free & I provide lightweight beach chairs & two sun loungers . I'm a bit horrified by the cockroaches .Horrible things, but that is not normal .I've lived there for two years before renting it out & never, ever saw one . I'm not doubting your report ,but I think that was exceptional .I will however fit a threshold seal to the front door now .Traditionally, the doors have a gap under to help air flow to keep the apartments cooler . I am disappointed by the building noise from the next block,I was assured that the noisy work was finished & that the rest of the works were fitting & therefore much quieter . In summary,I will address those items within my control, but the other issues are largely a function of the popularity of this area & a different culture . I would hope that other potential guests can use this information to inform their decision .Best wishes,Chris

The property was 5star all the little details taken care of to make your stay home from home and more. Location fabulous close to the beach (a stones throw) shops restaurants transport.

Where to begin....... just had a short stay at this apartment and could not fault in any way. The property exceeds the description. Chris, who owns the property was very helpful, his instructions and notes were brilliant. The beach bars are well worth a visit Would highly recommend this property.

The apartment is in a wonderful location

It's a stone's throw from the beach for a lazy beach holiday with a huge range of restaurants & bars within easy walking distance,(even a McDonalds for the guilty pleasure !)

Easy walking distance means that where you sleep is perfectly quiet,just the sound on the surf.

It's the beach side of the main road from Malaga to Marbella,so it is really easy to get to & find(!),either by public transport or by car.

"Marbs" is 11km away if you want to taste the high life.

This is a residential block,mainly ordinary working Spanish people.Some have lived in the area all of their lives & are incredibly friendly. My point is that you will not be surrounded by stag & hen groups. If that is what you personally are looking for,this is not for you !

I'm sure that you will look at several listings before making a choice. I would urge you to look very closely at the specific location of any listing .The other side of the main road has numerous estates of apartments stretching inland unto & now beyond the toll motorway .Look at this on a map - "close to the beach & all amenities" might be 5 miles away in the middle of a rabbits warren of flats !!!!!
