Overview

About the property

Beautiful 3 Br Farmhouse On 11 Heavenly Acres

Nestled in the Rockfish gap right under Devil's Knob our farmhouse is situated perfectly in the center of everything that Nellysford, Wintergreen, and the Rockfish Valley have to offer, including skiing, golfing, fishing, breweries/wineries, Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, biking, swimming, antiquing, and so much more while still providing a quiet secluded and downright heavenly spot to use as your base of operations for your next vacation. While there’s plenty to do in this area, including day visits to nearby historic towns like Staunton, Lexington, and Charlottesville, just spending a few quiet nights in the house is almost vacation enough with its warm 200 year old re-purposed heart pine beams, slate floors, wood stove for those cold winter nights, huge sun-room, two living rooms, one with a pull-out couch and large window seat, 3 well appointed bedrooms, small sleeping porch, and 2 full bathrooms. There is Wi-Fi through-out the house, Direct TV with premium channels, and DVD players, so no one has to be without entertainment. Outside, there is a small deck nestled under the trees next to the garden, a great fire-pit in the back yard perfect for evening gatherings under the stars, and a basketball court to keep the kids busy during the day. The 11 acre property has beautiful wooded trails and a path leading right down to the babbling Spruce Creek that runs through it, not to mention open pasture land with gorgeous vistas and views of the surrounding mountains. Get up early and hike out into the pasture to see the sun come up over the mountains or sleep late and then take a short walk to tour the Bold Rock Hard Cider house just down the street or ride your bike down the “Brew Ridge Trail” to Red Wolf or Devil’s Backbone, eat a terrific meal and taste some local craft beers! There’s so much to do (or not to do if you prefer), you’ll love spending time here!

About Cynthia Corbin

We bought the house as a retirement property, but with 2 kids still in college, aren't yet able to make full the transition. Renting the property every now and then provides the income supplement we need for the time being. We manage the property ourselves and also do all the maintenance and cleaning.

Cute farmhouse

  • 4 of 5

Sweet farmhouse, well provisioned. We found the plates and glasses finally in the dishwasher. Clean!!! Had to leave sheets in the dryer because of time constraints. We brought our own towels so we wouldn't have to deal with doing too much laundry on Sunday morning. Wish we could have had some sunny weather to do some exploring! Great location close to breweries and vinyards. Beautiful area of Virginia!

quiet and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a quick weekend that brought some rain and snow but found plenty to do in the house and on the property to enjoy ourselves despite the weather. The beds were comfortable and the house was quaintly decorated. We spent a lot of time on the heated porch with the couch and dining table. The property gave us hours of wandering experiences and we could imagine coming back during a summer trip to play in the creek! We checked out some old VHS tapes and had a relaxing weekend.

Our only complaint was regarding the kitchen. There was no pot to boil water for pasta or any sauce or saute pans to cook anything. We had to use a wok we found for everything and the stove wasn't super powerful so we ended up eating out a lot.

There are several places to eat within a reasonable drive and the lot is located conveniently off 151 - very easy to find and access! Cynthia was very responsive throughout the process and we paid the extra fee to have our laundry completed for us. Check-in/out was a breeze. We'd definitely stay here again, but we'll bring a couple of pans because we prefer to cook our own meals, even on vacation!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and I'm happy you enjoyed your stay but concerned that you didn't find all of the kitchen supplies you needed. The kitchen is fully stocked to cook any meal you want including large pots and pans that I keep in the drawer next to the oven. I've cooked several very large meals there myself, including Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners! I'll recheck the kitchen inventory and make sure it's fully stocked ASAP. Perhaps there has been some attrition. I'll also check out the stove, to make sure it's working properly. It's a gas stove and I've always found to be very powerful.

Wonderful, rustic property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful farmhouse. It was impeccably clean and the property was great for our two families with toddlers to explore. The kitchen was well stocked. We really enjoyed exploring the local cideries/breweries and the children's trail down the road.

Beautiful farmhouse and property.

  • 5 of 5

The farmhouse was beautiful and the property was well maintained. Being from the suburbs of the Metropolitan D.C. area, it was nice to get away. Walking around the property and hearing the creek in the distance was a peaceful experience.

The location was removed from the city life we are use to however we found a Mexican restaurant and an Italian restaurant 5 minutes away along with a small grocery store.

The house had everything we needed dishes wise and linen wise. The main level was cold since we did not use the wood stove, which was not used due to lack of experience. The upper level and lower level bedroom heated rather quickly with the separate units.

Overall it was a great experience and a vacation we will remember.

Great place to get away

  • 5 of 5

The property was wonderful--secluded and private yet close to all the great things that Nelson County offers (breweries, wineries, cideries, and Wintergreen). Definitely recommend and hope to return soon.

The house is beautiful and the location is perfect!

  • 5 of 5

There is plenty of room in the house for 3 couples plus a few adult children. The sunroom had a large enough table that we could all have a sit down dinner. After our long day working our way through the local shops, restaurants/pubs we came back to the house and had a fire in the outdoor fire pit, it was fantastic! We’ll defiantly be staying here again!
