Overview

About the property

Beautiful 3 Br Farmhouse On 11 Heavenly Acres

Nestled in the Rockfish gap right under Devil's Knob our farmhouse is situated perfectly in the center of everything that Nellysford, Wintergreen, and the Rockfish Valley have to offer, including skiing, golfing, fishing, breweries/wineries, Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, biking, swimming, antiquing, and so much more while still providing a quiet secluded and downright heavenly spot to use as your base of operations for your next vacation. While there’s plenty to do in this area, including day visits to nearby historic towns like Staunton, Lexington, and Charlottesville, just spending a few quiet nights in the house is almost vacation enough with its warm 200 year old re-purposed heart pine beams, slate floors, wood stove for those cold winter nights, huge sun-room, two living rooms, one with a pull-out couch and large window seat, 3 well appointed bedrooms, small sleeping porch, and 2 full bathrooms. There is Wi-Fi through-out the house, Direct TV with premium channels, and DVD players, so no one has to be without entertainment. Outside, there is a small deck nestled under the trees next to the garden, a great fire-pit in the back yard perfect for evening gatherings under the stars, and a basketball court to keep the kids busy during the day. The 11 acre property has beautiful wooded trails and a path leading right down to the babbling Spruce Creek that runs through it, not to mention open pasture land with gorgeous vistas and views of the surrounding mountains. Get up early and hike out into the pasture to see the sun come up over the mountains or sleep late and then take a short walk to tour the Bold Rock Hard Cider house just down the street or ride your bike down the “Brew Ridge Trail” to Red Wolf or Devil’s Backbone, eat a terrific meal and taste some local craft beers! There’s so much to do (or not to do if you prefer), you’ll love spending time here!

About Cynthia Corbin

We bought the house as a retirement property, but with 2 kids still in college, aren't yet able to make full the transition. Renting the property every now and then will provide the income supplement we need now.

Cynthia Corbin purchased this farmhouse in 2014

Why Cynthia Corbin chose Central Virginia

We just fell in love with this property and the surrounding region.

What makes this farmhouse unique

How does that old real estate advise go, 'location, location, location'? This spot has everything we were looking for in a vacation/retirement property.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for our long weekend. Location was private and secluded feeling without being at all difficult to access. Close to south entrance to Shenandoah National Park. We were 2 families with kids age 14 years old to 6 months old. House provided great shared space as well as options for separate space as needed. Excellent yard for kids and dogs. In fact, kids were so well entertained with the trampoline we hardly left the property! House was clean, nicely equipped and mattresses were comfortable. Enjoyed a little fresh rosemary and thyme from the garden for our dinner. Owner was efficient and and helpful with our last minute reservation. We will be bookmarking this place for future visits to the area.

Great quick get-away

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed two nights at the farmhouse. Very comfortable for 2 couples and an old dog. Downstairs master bedroom was great, since the pup can't do stairs anymore. House itself is quite charming, trails are accessible and very nice, and fire pit was great. House is within walking distance of Bold Rock! We had perfect weather so did not use the wood stove. Took a little while to cool off the house when we first got there, but that's due to user error. Only piece of advice is to start laundry early on the morning you head out, especially if you have 2 loads. The washer take a while. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The house and property were great. The house had everything we needed, the rooms were super comfortable. There were two areas to comfortably lounge in. The kitchen had more than enough of the essentials. The property offered nice easy walks through the Virginia countryside, and we were able to meander down the road to the ciders which is always a plus (and has amazing views).

Nice farmhouse close to Wintergreen ; good place for families; close to restaurants

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 was very comfortable in this farmhouse. I would recommend for families visiting Wintergreen. It was a convenient 15 min drive to the resort but had more room to spread and more affordable than places onsite. We went to two different breweries for dinner both within 5 min drive. And most importantly it was very clean!!!

Very convenient, just off hwy 151 near Nellysford, yet secluded in woods on a quiet country lane.

  • 4 of 5

Ample bedrooms with extra sofa beds. Ten minutes from Wintergreen with its ski slopes and hiking trails. A mile from 2 we'll-known brewery/pubs, a block from Bold Rock Cider with its beautiful views. A great location for sightseeing, hiking, Virginia's wine trail, or a quiet family vacation or reunion.

Wonderful Remote Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect. The pictures do not do it justice. We were only a family of 4, but the cabin could sleep 8 or more easily. The kitchen had everything appliance, cookware, dishes we need. The owner even supplied go cups for coffee on our morning walks. There is a short walk to the creek, something we enjoyed every morning. Our dog loved her new freedom and we enjoyed the solitude and reconnecting without distractions.

There are two cider breweries close by for dinner when we got cabin fever. Also, the blue ridge parkway and skyline drive are a short drive away and should not be missed, with lots of short hikes off the drive.

Cabin was very clean and spacious. WiFi worked perfectly. Firepit was resort quality, they even supplied the firewood. I cannot say enough about our stay, highly recommended to anyone that wants peace an solitude.
