Spring Cottage is a beautiful Cotswold stone property, located on a quiet lane in the peaceful and picturesque village of Ebrington, which is well known for its award winning local pub, the Ebrington Arms. The village is approximately two miles away from the famous market town of Chipping Campden, with its wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is also well placed for visiting the other well-known market towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. Ebrington is also surrounded by the stunning, rolling Cotswold countryside and numerous lovely walks can be accessed directly from the cottage.

This spacious cottage has a wealth of character features, including oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls, a traditional Aga and a large inglenook fireplace, with a wood burning stove. The character of the cottage is perfectly complemented by its modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a recently converted ground floor shower room and a beautifully presented kitchen.

Spring Cottage sleeps five people, in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. There is a beautiful mature garden at the back of the property, which is lovely in all seasons, and quiet on street parking is readily available. The cottage is perfect for friends or families looking for a relaxing break in a beautiful village, surrounded by the stunning Cotswolds countryside.

House Rules

Booking and payment

Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Security deposits

Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).


The maximum occupancy of the property is five guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than five guests at the property.

Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.


Regrettably, pets are not accepted.

Bed linen and towels

Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.

Arrival and departure times

Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Heating, fuel and logs

The property has a gas central heating system.

Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stove and further log supplies can be purchased locally.

Services provided

The property has free wireless internet access and a flat screen Freeview TV with DVD player. A telephone is also provided for local calls, with an honesty box for the cost of calls made.

Mobile phone reception is poor inside the cottage.


Free on street parking is readily available outside or close to the cottage.


Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.

Child friendly facilities

A travel cot (without linen) and high chair are provided, with the cot fitting best in bedroom 2. A gate is also provided that fits in the door way of the bedrooms.

Parents with young children should note that the Aga in the kitchen remains on all the time, so it will always be hot to touch.

Initial consumables

A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.

Accessibility, health and safety

This is an old property and has many character features, including some low doorways and steps between rooms, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency. The first floor landing space is also quite small, with bedrooms 1 and 2 opening directly onto this small space, close to the stairs.

The path to the cottage's front door is a shared path, running alongside a neighbouring garden, and guests should therefore be considerate of the cottage's neighbours when entering or leaving the property.

The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.


No smoking is permitted throughout the property.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location

The cottage is well suited for a small family or two couples for 5-7 days as we did. It's in the tiny hamlet of Ebrington, just steps from the pub/b & b, and a short distance from the larger town of Chipping Campden. We really enjoyed the home-away-from-home atmosphere, inside an out. Cozy and lovely in every way, you really feel you're in a Cotswolds cottage but with all of the modern conveniences, including extremely comfortable bedding. Perfect for our getaway!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. As soon as we were notified of the smell coming from the drains into the downstairs shower room we took action to try and identify/resolve the problem. Within less than 24 hours the water company responsible for the drains in Ebrington had been out, put cameras into the drains, identified that there was a partial blockage in their sewer pipes and blasted the blockage clear using high pressure hoses. The cause of the issue was one which was totally out of our control but one which we nonetheless took immediate steps to resolve. Thereafter the guests did not notify us of any continuing problem. Had they done so we would have taken any necessary further steps to resolve it. As to the cleanliness of the property, there were some marks on the wall by the back door in the kitchen and some less than careful guests had stained the carpet downstairs. This is unfortunately inevitable from time to time when people are using the property. Efforts were made to remove the carpet stains but to no avail. A decision therefore had been made to replace the carpet with wood floors. This is to be done in January which is the first available opportunity. In this last week pre-arranged maintenance has taken place which has incidentally included redecoration where necessary. The cottage was not ‘dirty’ and absolutely no comment or complaint was made to that effect by the guests at the time. Indeed when asked about the cottage during their stay the guests replied; “It’s by far the best we’ve stayed in during our trip”. We are genuinely sorry that an issue relating to the drains, that was not of our making, caused an unpleasant smell - we always want our guests to love their stay at Spring Cottage and try to go the extra mile to ensure that they do.

The Cotswolds are a range of hills in west-central England, sometimes called the "Heart of England". The name Cotswold means "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides".

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Car: Ebrington is easily accessed by car, being located within five miles of both the A44 and the A429 (Fosse Way), which are two of the main roads through the North Cotswolds.

Train: The nearest railway station to Ebrington is Moreton-in-Marsh (approximately seven miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately ninety minutes
