Honeysuckle Cottage is an elegant and comfortable cottage, located in the centre of the pretty north-east Cotswolds village of Middle Tysoe. The delightful surrounding countryside, with spectacular views, is accessible directly from the cottage and this "off the beaten track" village is largely self-contained, with a local pub, Post Office with shop, tea rooms and a village store with off-license. Middle Tysoe is ideally located for visiting the many lovely Cotswold towns and villages, including Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold, as well as being perfectly located for exploring William Shakespeare's birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon. Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and Oxford are also easily accessible.

This spacious cottage has been decorated with a contemporary feel, complemented by characterful features such as a wood burning stove, wood panelling, stone cladding and a bright and airy dining area, which looks out onto the garden. The character of the cottage is complemented by its modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well presented kitchen.

Honeysuckle Cottage sleeps eight people, in four bedrooms, with three lovely bathrooms and a ground floor cloakroom. There is an enclosed garden and free on street parking is readily available close to the property. The cottage is perfect for extended families or a group of friends looking for a relaxing break in a beautiful village, surrounded by spectacular countryside.

House Rules

Booking and payment

Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Security deposits

A security deposit of £150 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. Guests are respectfully requested not to move the beds in bedrooms 3 & 4. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit. The security deposit is payable prior to arrival at the property, via a bank transfer or a valid debit or credit card.

The maximum occupancy of the property is eight guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than eight guests at the property.

Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.

Up to two large dogs, over one year old, are accepted, at a cost of £20 per booking per dog.

For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure.

Bed linen and towels

Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.

Arrival and departure times

Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Initial consumables

A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.

Accessibility, health and safety

The second floor of the property is in the eaves. Restricted height in the second family bathroom may be inconvenient for tall guests. The Velux windows in the second floor bedrooms have opening restrictors fitted and keys are available to open them in the event of an emergency.

The property has multiple floors and there is a step in the garden area, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.

The smoke detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.

No smoking is permitted throughout the property.

Hen, Stag and other same sex groups

Unfortunately, Hen, Stag and other same sex groups are not allowed at Honeysuckle Cottage.

If you would like to enquire as part of a same sex group, please contact us, as these may be accepted at the sole discretion of the property owner. Please note that same sex family groups are welcome.

The property is not suitable for loud parties, as there are neighbouring residential properties close by.

In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.

If you have any queries regarding the size of any rooms or spaces, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Lovely, cozy retreat in the north Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

My husband's family and I had a wonderful time at Honeysuckle Cottage. The home itself is well decorated and stocked. We prepared dinner and breakfast together each day. Waking up in the luxurious beds with the windows open to the birds chirping was a sheer delight. We hope to come back soon. My mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law very much enjoyed the Sunday church service.

A pleasant stay for 4 adults.

  • 4 of 5

Honeysuckle Cottage is in excellent condition - well updated throughout. We selected it a/c it has 3 full baths, plus 1/2 bath and 4 bedrooms. We were 4 adult women. The drawbacks were that the stairs are very steep and narrow - although there are handrails on both sides. The 3rd floor space was barely adequate for 2 adults - each with a room but that space is best for children as very tight and tiny bath. It would have been impossible with more than 2 adults. In addition, the parking was difficult - we stopped briefly to unload luggage when we arrived and were immediately accosted by a neighbor rudely telling us to move. The parking is down the street - at least a block away. This needs to be stressed to future tenants. It might also be reported that no one contacted us all week to ascertain if everything was satisfactory - we contacted the person in charge when we detected an unusual odor around the front door but never heard back from that person.

The town is very quiet and we drove elsewhere for most things. About a 30-60 minute drive to the popular Cotswold villages.

Owner's Response: ""Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages. The following is written by the owners at Honeysuckle Cottage: We note that the reviewer lives in the USA, where we ourselves have spent many years. We feel that this may be an important consideration with respect to the comments made. Properties in the US do tend to be larger than those in the UK. We are thankful for the positive feedback and would like to address those areas where Honeysuckle Cottage did not meet with the reviewer’s expectations. Honeysuckle Cottage is typical for a quaint and characterful 4 bedroom cottage in the Cotswolds. If anything, the bedrooms are larger than average. The top floor bathroom is quite small. However, there are two other bathrooms from which to choose. For this type of property in the UK, the stairs are not unusually steep or narrow and handrails are provided. Free on-street parking is usually available approximately 50 yards away within view of the cottage. It is unfortunate that one of our neighbours objected to where our guests temporarily parked but it appears they had parked on his driveway. We are up-dating the parking information for greater clarity. During the visit, our property manager did respond to a guest concern that there was a gas odour to reassure them that there is no gas at the property. The property manager invited the guest to contact her again if the odour persisted but heard nothing more. We are pleased that our guests had a pleasant stay and found our cottage to be in excellent condition and well updated.

The Cotswolds are a range of hills in west-central England, sometimes called the "Heart of England". The name Cotswold means "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides".

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Car: Middle Tysoe is easily accessed by car, being approximately 10 miles away from junction 11 (Banbury) of the M40 and approximately six miles away from the A429 (Fosse Way), one of the main roads through the Cotswolds.

Train: The nearest railway station to Middle Tysoe is Banbury (approximately 9 miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Marylebone, with a typical journey time of less than 60 minutes.
