A charming town home in a quiet neighborhood. Spacious and tasteful accommodations for eight to ten featuring two queen size beds, two twins, a queen sleeper sofa, plus two twin inflatable mattresses. All the beds, except the inflatable mattresses, have new memory foam mattress toppers. Hardwood floors throughout the main living areas accented by stylish area rugs and furniture. We are an end unit townhouse, not a detached single family residence.
Large windows, including floor to ceiling windows in the Living Room, allow ample light in every room. Original art and other quality decor can be found in almost every room. The basement family room features a 42' plasma HD TV with Blue Ray player. Numerous books, games, puzzles and toys are available for our guests use. Along with 3 bedrooms, the 2nd story provides a common media room where you can catch up on emails using our high-speed wireless network, watch TV, or read a good book!
After a long day sight seeing, enjoy a family meal around the table in the kitchen, or a more formal affair in the separate dining room which easily seats 8 or more.
Washer and dryer are available for guest use, and we also provide a Pack N Play and booster seat for families with young ones. A lovely backyard deck and large BBQ grill is ideal for outdoor entertaining in the summer.
Our guest house is perfectly situated to allow easy access to DC's and Virginia's finest attractions. Several DC Metro stations, with ample parking, are within a 5 mile radius. The I-395 and I-495/95 are less than two miles away for quick access downtown or to all parts of Virginia and Maryland.
Kathy and I moved to Virginia in 2007 for me to finish out my federal career and work a short second career in private industry. We have thoroughly enjoyed living in our home in Springfield and enjoying all that the Washington DC and Northern Virginia areas have to offer. It has been especially wonderful being near our daughter's family, and our two grand-daughters, who live in Fairfax! Having recently retired, we have moved back to our long-time home in southern California, looking forward to enabling our guests at the Spring Guest House to enjoy our house, and the surrounding area, as much as we have!
Mark Bodycombe purchased this townhome in 2007
We bought this home because of the wonderful neighborhood, the quality construction, and the location - not being in Washington DC per se, but being close enough that working or playing, we could easily get into the city anytime we wanted. We also enjoyed the ease of townhouse living, especially an end unit, with the feel of a single family home, but not the upkeep of a large yard, etc. We've never had any noise related concerns with the neighbors we share one wall of our home with.
Spring Guest House is meant to be your home away from home. It offers a thoughtful combination of comfort, charm and quality. It is set in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood and has ample shopping and restaurants within a very short distance. It is readily accessible to the Washington Metro system as well as two major highways, including the I-395 which can have you downtown in 20 minutes.
We loved our visit, a wonderful home in a great location. A quiet and pretty neighborhood with a very easy commute into the Nation's Capital. The home is clean and neat with lots of room and lovely decor. The home is large enough so that some found quiet spaces to be alone while others were gathering together and sharing stories. Shopping and restaurants are easily accessible within a few minutes from the home.
We will gladly stay here again and confidently recommend for others.
We had a great time in Springfield. The home met and exceeded our expectations for cleanliness and design. Plenty of supplies in the kitchen, comfortable furnishings, quiet area but convenient. Very spacious kitchen and formal dining room made it a happy place to entertain. Would go again.
If you are looking for a home away from home, this place is it! It had everything you need and more to make your stay very comfortable. We were a group of friends visiting D.C. who wanted to stay together, and outside the city. This home could not have been more convenient. Thanks to the owners for their wonderful accommodations and great communication!
My son was promoted to Warrant Officer with the USMC, and our family flew in from different parts of the country. The Spring Guest House worked out perfectly. Centrally located between DC and Quantico, it made a perfect gathering spot for the family. The owners were wonderful and available when ever needed. They take pride in their dwelling and it shows. It was super clean and very spacious for our family of 8. I love to cook and bake, and their kitchen had all of the tools needed. We are looking forward to our next visit and will definitely be staying at this property. Thank you
My team had an event over the weekend in the area, and decided to make it a moms getaway out of it. The Spring Guest House turned out to be just perfect for us. The place was super clean, easy to get to, conveniently located to pretty much anything we could need, and had plenty of space for all of us to spread out. The area was nice and quiet along with completely safe. The owners were great to work with, and we would definitely recommend the property to anyone in the area.
The Spring Guest House worked out perfectly for my family's reunion/Thanksgiving get-together. We found the house spotless and completely ready for our use. My husband and I were especially happy to see the well-stocked kitchen since we had volunteered to cook Thanksgiving dinner. There were plenty of pots and pans, serving dishes and utensils. It was so nice to be able to enjoy a real Thanksgiving dinner together with our mother, who we came to visit (she resides at Greenspring Retirement Village, which was only about a 10-minute drive from the guest house). She uses a walker but with the railing by the steps to the front door, we were still able to get her into the house easily enough. It was also extremely convenient to have the shopping center so close by, within walking distance actually, for some last-minute items we needed. Having grown up in this area, we knew how convenient the house would be to the Interstates, and we were able to get to Arlington Cemetery easily to visit our father's grave site. Mark Bodycombe, the owner, was very nice to deal with, was responsive to our questions, and flexible to our needs. We are already talking about doing another reunion for our mother's 90th birthday, and we will definitely rent this property again at that time.
My wife and I flew into Richmond to visit with our youngest daughter who had just started her job after graduating from college and finishing her clinical rotations! Our oldest flew in from Houston. We picked up both daughters and drove into Springfield. There were only four of us so each had their own bedroom. The house provided everything we needed and then some. The bathrooms appeared to be recently updated! We considered using the Metro however it was so easy to drive in from the house into the DC area we drove each day and it took about 20 minutes from the house to the national mall area. We had a great visit and made lifetime memories! Thank you for sharing your home!

There really is no place like Washington DC in the world. The collection of world-class museums featuring some of the world's best art, science and portrayals of national and world history is unprecedented! The numerous memorials commemorating historic and important people and events in US history are not to miss. As the seat of our country's government, there are countless opportunities to visit, learn about and experience important federal facilities including the White House, Capitol, FBI, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Library of Congress, and many more!
The Washington metro area is also home to the most diverse population in the USA. As a result, there are countless opportunities to experience foreign cuisines and cultures in a way not possible in any other US city.
Despite being a major metropolitan area, there are many outdoor activities to take part in including excellent biking, water sports, hiking, white water rafting, skiing, and exploring the Shenandoah National Park. Virginia also has a burgeoning wine business exemplified by some very good wineries you can easily visit on a day trip to the more rural parts of the state.
Other very popular attractions are close enough to access on a day trip, including Williamsburg, King's Dominion theme park, Annapolis, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, Gettysburg, and the Chesapeake Bay.
