Overview

About the property

A spacious house with everything you need for a really comfy and relaxing break

A beautifully restored stone house in the heart of the village, 2 minutes walk from the estuary or to the shops! You enter the house into an open plan living room with wooden floors, comfy sofas and a woodburning stove. The dining area has a large farmhouse dining table, plenty of seating for guests. The adjacent kitchen looks up towards a large south facing garden with light flooding in.

The 3 bedrooms are adaptable for friends or couples: a superking bed, a twin room which can be (which can be made into another supering), bunk beds.

There is an additional double-folding bed which can be put in the living room and access to a cot if needed. If you prefer we can make up a child's bed in the large bedroom. The bedrooms look either over the village to the estuary or to the garden.

The house is beautifully maintained and has a new kitchen, bathroom, and downstairs toilet, with deliciously comfortable beds, quality linen and towels. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher and microwave, gas hob and electric oven.

The large garden, has a patio (which is being redone in June 2016) with seating, and a large lawn area. The living room has plenty of games for the young at heart. There is a large TV and DVD player and Wifi.

The house is a perfect venue for an easeful holiday: parking right outside the door, a village setting with shops, pubs, cafe and restaurant. But there is also direct access to the countryside with great walks, beaches and good surf. Also plenty of wildlife to enjoy, birds to spot and golf.

Swansea is within easy reach for museums, cinema and leisure centre (with wave pool). But there is also a large retail area closer in forestfach. The house is easy to reach from the M4 and a great base to explore Gower.

We welcome families with children of all ages, with some toys and books, a high chair and a toddler height chair.

Pets are also welcome for a £20 fee each.

About Laura Gilmore

I live in Bristol with my family, grew up in London and have always loved to visit wales to escape city life! I work teaching yoga and have a yoga studio in Bristol.

Laura Gilmore purchased this house in 2005

Why Laura Gilmore chose Pen-clawdd

I grew up in London but had plenty of trips to the Gower to visit our family here. My cousins and aunt and uncle still leave on Gower so we love to come and enjoy time with them in this stunning place. This area is very special to me as I have loved it since childhood and now I get to explore it all over again with my son.

What makes this house unique

This is a spacious house with flexible accommodation to suit families and friends. It is beautifully decorated with a lovely open plan living-dining area.

The bedrooms have large comfy beds. There is a massive garden with a new patio and BBQ. It is gorgeous to sit out and hear all the birds. The house is in a fairly quite village surrounded by fields on one side and the estuary on the other so its both easy- with shops, cafes, take away and peaceful.

Guestbook comments from the owner

aura's house is a gem... Warm, welcoming with a beautiful kitchen and great set up in the lounge/dining. All bedrooms upstairs, including bathroom, but also a toilet downstairs. Boardgames a hit with the little one. Super king bed and pillows were DIVINE... Had to cut our chapter at Laura's short due to unexpected circumstances but Laura couldn't have been kinder and more helpful... We were sad to go. A great spot. Thanks Laura x

Simple but very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The Gower is stunning and we were fortunate enough to have glorious weather during our stay. The cottage was well located and served as an excellent base. It had everything we needed (although more than one beach towel would have been helpful) and there were plenty of nice touches (like the face cloths in the very nice bathroom). We would certainly come back, but for longer next time!!!

Perfect for family to gather

  • 5 of 5

This home is bigger than it seems in pictures. The lay out was perfect for 7 of us to gather (3 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 under 10 yrs old). We were grateful for the 2 parking spaces, the proximity to the grocery store, the games and movies supplied, the large table to sit all of us, the extra bedding and the location for Gower beautiful beaches. Lovely place.

Cottage perfect for our needs and great location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here over the New Year weekend to visit friends who live in Penclawdd and take our dogs walking on the beautiful beaches of The Gower. The property was perfectly suited to what we needed with a secure garden and great location within walking distance of the shop and places to eat. The property was well equipped and the beds very comfortable. We would love to return in the summer months.

Regards, Penny

Family short break holiday

  • 4 of 5

First time to the Gower and found the house ideally located to be within easy travelling distance of all the Gower coast. The house is just a few minutes walk away from the marsh flats so was ideal for early morning/late evening walking of the dog.

The house coped well with 6 adults and two babies, there is a lovely big dinning room table that everyone could sit around so meals could be social and also for evening table games.

Would we do it again, yes I think we would.

Beautiful characterful house

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house, very comfortable. Plenty of room for all six of us. Sadly the Welsh weather conspired against us, but Laura has games and DVDs which the kids loved! V comfortable beds and clean linen / towels, it was all in all a lovely stay.

The village has cafes, restaurants, and take away. As well as shops- supermarket, surf shop etc.

Be sure to enjoy the stunning Gower beaches at Three Cliffs and Llangennith and the stunning raw beauty of North Gower. There are castle ruins and woodland walks along the north coast as well as the sea.

A great area for surfing. Also plenty of golf if thats your thing. A good area for cycling. And of course stunning area for walks and hikes.

Swansea city has plenty in the way of museums, cinema, theatre and restaurants and a great leisure centre- a wave pool which kids and big kids love!
