Modern, stylish, rural Pembrokeshire retreat. Ideal for couples & dog friendly

Bedrooms 1
Space 861 sq. ft.
Property type barn
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Quiet, great location to explore Pembrokeshire's beaches, countryside and city

Stylish barn conversion conveniently located in rural mid-Pembrokeshire (South West Wales).

Within easy reach of numerous stunning beaches, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the wild North coast, St David’s (Britain's smallest city), it's Cathedral, the Preseli hills and the beautiful Gwaun valley.

Situated in Brimaston, a small, out-of-the-way hamlet, Ty Lloi offers generous accommodation for discerning couples who enjoy walking, cycling, exploring, sightseeing or just chilling out in front of the wood-burner.

Ideal for foodies – until recently the owners ran a well-regarded local restaurant – there is the option of a part-catered stay in the shape of tasty evening meals, free-range eggs, fresh baked bread, home-made chutneys, jams and marmalade.

Approached through its own gateway and beautifully landscaped courtyard area, you are greeted by a light and airy double height entrance hallway with the sitting room, including wood-burner, HD TV and Bose sound system tucked away to your right and beautifully crafted beech wood stairs to your left leading up to the well-appointed, bespoke kitchen which in turn is linked to a cosy snug by a striking, glass lined walkway.

The large, comfortably furnished bedroom, complete with a king-size bed, is on the ground floor with a door leading to the sunny and secluded private back garden. Just off the bedroom is a bathroom with walk-in shower - towels provided.

The barn is heavily insulated and designed to maximise passive solar gain. There are solid oak floors throughout, water is solar heated (with an immersion as back-up) and as a supplement to the wood-burner every room has a slimline, neo-digital electric panel heater. Wi-fi is included, as is a Bose sound system and a basket full of wood for the wood-burner. Larder essentials such as coffee, tea, milk and olive oil are provided.

About Jon Bray & Karen Hearn

A pair of food loving, dog loving, outdoor living, Pembrokeshire lovers. We moved here from London in 2002 and have never regretted it for a moment. Living in Pembrokeshire means for us walks on the beach, exploring the countryside, living more sustainably, harvesting our own fruit and veg, looking after our animals (currently 6 chickens, 2 geese and a chocolate lab) and generally enjoying a slower pace of life. We have planted up 6 acres of native broadleaf woodland and find it extremely satisfying when birds migrating all the way from Africa see fit to nest in our little patch.

Jon Bray & Karen Hearn purchased this barn in 2002

Why Jon Bray & Karen Hearn chose Haverfordwest

We fell in love the moment we drove in through the gate. Far enough off the beaten track, yet with good neighbours and located centrally in Pembrokeshire so that everything the county offers – beaches, cliffs, woods, hills, rivers and valleys – is within easy reach. We’ve spent over ten years slowly renovating our house, the Grange – Ty Lloi (The Calf House) was completed far quicker although still in a manner true to our ideals, using local craftsmen and an architect who shared our vision of preserving the original nature of the building, whilst maximising passive solar gain, introducing high levels of insulation and utilising natural materials.

An excellent cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were warmly welcomed by Jon and Karen, with several unexpected and much appreciated "extras". The cottage was set in ideal surroundings and not very far from many of the local attractions. All parts of the cottage were well equipped and we would unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet retreat. Among the places we visited were St David's and Pembroke Castle; shopping in Haverfordwest retail park was good ; a boat trip from Martin's Haven was excellent though the approach to the boat is not really for the physically challenged!

Just what we were looking for .

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for some where to unwind and relax for a week ... and this was the place to do it. Just off the beaten track , but not too far away from local shops / pubs etc.

Very relaxing 10/10 .

High standard excellence

  • 5 of 5

Well designed and maintained accommodation in a lovely part of Pembrokeshire. Plenty of local places to eat (if this is your choice) and outdoor activities easily accessible. We enjoyed walks in the hills (one starting from the front door) and vists to the coast and nearby towns/villages. Highly recommended.

Beautiful !

  • 5 of 5

We were taken back when we arrived, the pretty garden to the front, and stunning barn with its huge windows. We couldn’t wait to see the rest.. and we were not disappointed... everything was just so lovely .. from the extra treats which really were appreciated, to the lovely quality bedding , rain shower, cosy wood burner for the evenings and not to mention the kitchen, I loved cooking in there.. everything you need and more. And the location is beautiful and peaceful, with some lovely walks from your door step..But you are not too far from anything ... we love Solva had a nice walk with the dog around the harbour, also fished at Newgale, walked around Carew Castle Took a flask of coffee and your cake, which was lovely, there are also plenty of benches to sit. little Haven is so pretty, with a lovely little beach/coffee shops etc, We had Sunday lunch in the Swan stunning food, but book in advance.. We had a great time can’t fault at all.. we are already planning another visit.. Karen and Jon - Thank you so much for a truly lovely weekend.
