You'll love the colorful small geckos, great house companions and insect eaters! We aren't on the water, we are atop one of the highest hills, hence the beautiful views. The beaches are a bus ride away. Bermuda is 21 miles long, 1 mile at its widest, so the ocean is never far away. This is a 65 year old house that though it has been lovingly restored, has it's imperfections, some will love and some need to have more of a hotel experience!

Please note, on rare occasion we accept a pet on a limited basis. If you have allergies to pets, please find other accommodations.

The Bermuda pink bus number 3, pass through Harrington Hundreds, a 7 minute walk away. They go to Hamilton, a 15 minute ride, and St Georges, a 25 minute ride about every 30 minutes until 6pm.

12 minutes walk down the hill you arrive at Harrington Hundreds Grocery. A very good small grocery serving the neighborhood and the upmarket Tucker's Town area. They have a chef preparing hother food daily, plus a wide range of meats, vegetables, groceries, and special dietary foods.

We have 4 sets of masks and flippers and beach umbrella.

About Marion and Gary Tilton

Our family has lived on the island for 235 years! I am a Bermudian who was raised in this exceptional home. My father who was a jeweler on the island, was raised in the 300 year old house next door which is now owned by my brother! My father was given this piece of his Dad's farmland with lovely views when he was ready to be married to my Mom. My Mom met my Dad when she and her sister came to Bermuda on a flying boat in 1948 from their home in Philadelphia. My Mom and Dad built this house you will be visiting, and we hope you love it as much as we do. I have always had one foot in Bermuda and one in the US. I moved to the US in 1980 to become a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. A perfect profession for an islander privileged to have dual citizenship! I married a lovely New Hampshireite, Gary, in 1987. We have 2 children who have always loved Bermuda and have their status in Bermuda, having spent much time here.

Marion and Gary Tilton purchased this house in 1951

Why Marion and Gary Tilton chose Bermuda

This much revered piece of property has been in our family for several generations. I say revered because it is on the second highest hill on the island with wonderful views. It is far enough away from the main roads that you hardly hear a vehicle! Bermuda is a gem of an island, then you get to High Terraces, and you feel like you are on your own, very private. Like you are the Crown Jewel in a very special spot. You have to understand though, our house is on the reasonable side of pricing for a reason! It is lovely, but it isn't a hotel!! In the summer every scrap of food must be put away quickly, as ants will find it wherever it is! If you have allergies it might not be the right place. We have heat and air conditioning to dry the atmosphere, but we've have a guest say it was musty at first! Welcome to our island!

What makes this house unique

Spectacular location for walkers, hikers. Getting away from it all, and for those who want to show their family what it is like to be a real Bermudian! The house is filled with good feelings and wonderful memories for me. I grew up here with five cousins next door, and other friends and family nearby. We walked down the hill almost every day in the summer to Harrington Sound. The odd day we didn't go there we were in our boat, or at one of the fabulous South Shore Beaches. We had forts on the properties, hand raised crows for pets when our parents wouldn't spring for a horse or a dog!!

Bermuda Beauty!!

  • 5 of 5

This house is fantastic and surpassed our expectations, which were very high actually! Marion and Gary prepared us for our visit completely! We took their advice and worked through their "favourite things to do in Bermuda" list! Great restaurant suggestions, too!! The location of the house is stunning. So private and quiet! Our teenage girls loved it! The pictures of the view really don't do it justice! Water views galore and beautiful vegetation. The house itself is amazing. Lots of room for our family of 4 and everything you could ever need is there! Great amenities! The home owners' support leading up to our stay, the friendly greeting by their sister at the house when we arrived to make sure we were settled, and the gorgeous setting made this trip incredible! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it without any hesitation!

Very nice accommodation for our family of 4. The owners provided all the information you could want and were very responsive. Well worth the price just for the view.

Slice of Paradise (Get away from it all)

  • 5 of 5

Marion and Gary are terrific hosts who will help ensure you trip to Bermuda is as smooth as possible. The home has Bermudian charm and 180 views of the Harrington sound and the ocean beyond. At night, the sky lights up with stars and the tree frogs sing (our favorite time). The home features 3 bedrooms now (the two larger are lovely) with views and a garden view room as well with two twin beds. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need (we cooked most meals in the house with our friends), and dined outdoors, or at the large lovely wood table big enough for 6. The home is away from it all (some bus drivers had never heard of the road), but the hosts are very honest about this which is part of the charm. We used recommended taxi drivers and the bus stop is just a short walk away. We signed the guest book as we left and saw how special this home was to many who have rented it. It is a great place for gathering friends or families together to enjoy nature's beauty and feel like true Bermudians for your stay. I loved all the history books they have available for guests to learn more about the culture of the island. I would come back in a heartbeat if I was traveling with a large group of 4-6 to Bermuda.

A Gem in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at High Terraces! This home boasts a complete 180 degree view of Harrington Sound, sweet songs from the native Kiskadee bird singing to you from the trees daily, and tree frogs whistling as you fall asleep to the islands breeze.

The sunrises and sunsets were phenomenal!

This home will give you a true feel of what it is to be a local in the Smiths Parrish area.

I recommend it to all interested in staying at a home rather than a hotel. It is near the Flatts Village area which has a lovely aquarium and a few restaurants.

It is one of a kind, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. All the comforts you could possibly need for a dream vacation =)

Thank you again for sharing your home with us, we will be back soon!

Wonderful Bermudan Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My family came to Bermuda to attend a wedding. High Terraces was the perfect spot to retreat to at the end of a busy day. Views of Harrington Sound made a terrific backdrop for morning coffee, as did the friendly calls of the kiskadees in the morning and singing tree frogs at night. The house itself was charming and spacious enough for our family of four. The hosts provided a wealth of information on how to get around the island, as well as a variety of recommended things to do, which was helpful since we were only there for a short stay. We liked that it was just a bit off the beaten track, but it was important for us to plan our outings wisely to make the most of what Bermuda has to offer. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Marion and Gary!
