I currently live in Orlando Florida and visit as much as I can to this house. I lived 24 years 10 minutes down the street from this property and still call the Adirondacks my home. I work in the music entertainment business and travel often so not able to take advantage of this magical place as much as I would like too.
Scott Broomfield purchased this house in 2009
The property sits on 11 acres that boarders 250 acres in the front and the back of the house is surrounded by 3200 acre Hinckley Lake. The Adirondack Mountains is a magical area with so much to do. People in the area are kind and helpful where they will welcome you back and make you feel right at home. Nothing compares to living or at least visiting this area as its truly unique.
The summer months there are small 'get to gathers' in and around the lake. Boaters will tie up in the middle of the lake and enjoy music and drinks. You enjoy a glass of wine at the beach or go up the mountain at the house which is 150 feet higher with views of the lake and Adirondack Mountains. In the winter months you can enjoy snowmobiling as it is located in the middle of the snow-belt with thousands groomed miles of trail riding.
We had such a great time at this property for a weekend getaway. We could have stayed all week had we had the chance! We lucked out with the weather and were able to use the in ground pool as the temps were in the 80's in mid September. The view was spectacular as we spent most of our time in the backyard. We recommend this property to everyone and we would definitely stay again!!!
Just spent 4 nights on a family vacation at Mountain Manor with 6 adults and 4 kids (ages3-10). Gloria met us at the property and was amazing, leading up to the trip, Scott was very responsive and helpful. The views are outstanding, the house was incredibly clean and the property is beautiful. We visited Old Forge and Niagara Falls 2 of the days there and had a blast. While the home and property are gorgeous there are definitely some drawbacks:
1. The pool is NOT heated, we figured in mid August it would be warm enough, wrong, the water was pretty cold and unless you sat in the sun for a while, it was hard to want to get in, even the kids were reluctant. It was sunny our entire trip and the pool was too cold our entire trip. This was definitely a huge drawback for us.
2. The lighting in the backyard is not so great. There is a drop off at the end of the property and once it gets dark out, you cant see it or most of the yard for that matter, with kids around, it gets a little sketchy.
3. The house does not have central AC, while the units in place work great, there is one room in the downstairs area without any windows or AC unit and it gets hot quickly in there.
4. Missing screens on the sliders downstairs were definitely a draw back. It would have been great to leave the sliders downstairs open but unfortunately they did not have screen doors so unless you want to sleep/eat with bugs, the doors have to stay shut. There is also a door upstairs that leads to the top deck that doesn't open, that was a bummer.
Overall we had a great vacation but the house did have a few drawback.
Enjoyed our family vacation at Scott's beautiful house. Scott's Dad, Len is close by and was ready to help with any questions you might have, Hope to be back next year!
Mountain Manor is a beautiful property! We had a wonderful family vacation filled with lots of laughs. The house is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need to cook anything which was very nice. The beds are comfortable. The town of Old Forge (about 40 minutes away) is very cute with lots of shops and restaurants. The golf cart was a huge hit with our teenagers and they loved taking tours around the property. The owners were wonderful to work with! Thank you so much for making our family trip so special!
Scott and his family were the nicest people ever! They went out of their way to make sure we had a fantastic experience. The house was gorgeous and VERY clean! The view is unlike anything i've ever seen. I will absolutely rent from them again. Thank you!!!!
Our annual summer vacation could not have been better. The whole family enjoyed the it from the youngest (5) to the oldest (74). Great location, well stocked, private and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating.
There are many things to do during the summer and winter. During the summer and staying on the lake you can get up early and go canoeing when the lake is perfectly still or if you like pulling small mouth out of the lake we have one of the best lakes around for fishing. Canoe and boat rentals are less than a mile away. You can make friends fast as there are a beaufitful sandy beaches to pull up to where you can mingle and meet the locals. You have Water Safari water park which is about 1/2 away which is great for the kids. Take a train ride though the Adirondack Mountains on Adirondack Scenic Railroad. It will be a breathtaking experience for all ages. If you like the night life then The Turning Stone Resorts and Casio which has everything from gambling too fine dining. If you like amazing local cuisine well your not going to find anything better. 5 miles away are Ohio Tavern or The Soda Fountain which will bring you back in time with its 50's style dining.
