About the property

Stay In The Beautifully Restored Cabin On This Historic 52 Acre Organic Farm

This is a true one-of-kind experience to stay at this amazing 52 acre historic landmark property right near Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, Ligonier, Fallingwater and Ohiopyle. The farm property includes a huge pond for swimming and is adjacent to a 3000 acre state forest with the most incredible hiking trails. Just a few miles off of the turnpike you will surround yourself with the amazing feeling of living on a restored historic farm. Rent this incredibly lovely one-room plus one bathroom bunkhouse that is situated right next to the historic barn. The bunkhouse has been newly redone with a fully equipped kitchen and lovely bath. The pull-out sofa-bed is a double so it sleeps two and the futon is a twin which sleeps one very comfortably as you enjoy a relaxing night on this quiet farm.

Please note that we prefer a two-night stay for weekend rentals.

About Janet McKee

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh by a father who grew up in a poor farm town in Italy. As a board certified holistic health counselor and MBA type, I guess I had farming in my blood, because late in my career, I decided to buy a farm. I've been teaching folks about the power of food choices to heal the body but began to realize that the source of the food was just as critical. So, the desire to have a place where I could grow organic fruits and vegetables and possibly to have a greenhouse to grow all winter long led me to start looking for a farm. Well, after years of looking, my son and I fell immediately in love with this amazing 52 acre historic property. We then began our journey of restoring the buildings that were all built in the 1800s. What has been created out of one of the buildings on the property is the most cozy and comfortable bunkhouse cabin. We are so pleased to share this amazing place with you!

Janet McKee purchased this cabin in 2012

No bed provided. When i saw it had a fold out sofa - the kind with torture bars - and a futon, I thought they were in addition to the bed. Not good.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to hear you were not comfortable. Please know that this is a brand new sofa bed and is one of the highest rated for comfort. We also added a thick mattress pad under the mattress that comes with the sofa bed. I sleep here often and love it. Possibly you did not have the extra mattress pad on. Please note that additional mattress pads and blankets are always in the closet. This is a super sweet and cozy one room historic cabin, just as described. AFTER WRITING THIS RESPONSE, I REVIEWED HER STAY AND SHE WAS UNHAPPY WITH THE LAUNDRY FEE THAT IS CLEARLY DESCRIBED IN OUR LISTING AND IN THE PRE-CHECK IN INSTRUCTIONS. THIS RENTER SIMPLY MADE UP AN ISSUE TO GIVE US A LOW RATING BECAUSE SHE WAS TRYING TO NEGOTIATE AFTER THE FACT. SHE NEVER ONCE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE MATTRESS WHEN SHE WAS COMMUNICATING WITH ME.

The description was deceiving.

  • 3 of 5

Instead of 2 bedroom as described, there were two couches that made a bed, no wifi, tv or linens without an extra fee.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry you must have confused our listing with another. Ours is exactly as described and we do have free wifi. The wifi password was sent to you in your welcome text. Our description is clear about the one-room cabin and fee for the linens if you choose not to bring your own. Everything is clear and the photos show everything as well. I apologize for any confusion.

Convenient and quiet

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here overnight on a long car ride. The cabin was quiet, clean and very comfortable. It was convenient to the PA tpke (gas, quick food, a very nice bakery, for overnight needs) yet in the countryside so that there was no sound of traffic. It was great to have the option of getting a quick meal or being able to cook as well as the possibility of just taking a walk along the quiet country road. It was the perfect place to stay overnight and was very clean. Janet was quick to respond to any inquiries I had about booking. The ease of booking and quality of the stay made this an excellent alternative to a traditional motel/hotel.

Beautiful, cozy little getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This place is the perfect little retreat. With so many things to see and hiking in the area! The pond is very nice and look forward to a stay in the warmer months. The cabin itself was perfectly suited for our stay. Full kitchen was great for what we needed; Magic Bullet for protein shakes and everything to cook meals!

Wonderfully relaxing

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for our 3 year anniversary and loved it. It's beautiful and relaxing to stay here and we met the nicest people. We were able to easily get to seven springs and Ohiopyle to spend the weekend amongst breathtaking natural sites. I would highly recommend this location. The only reason I didn't give an ecstatic 5 stars was because the bed situation wasn't great and we ended up being pretty stiff every morning bc the best option is a pull it bed with a very soft mattress. Certainly it was adequate and not in any way a deal breaker for this wonderful little place!
