Íllora Castle dates from the Caliphate period (IX-X centuries), but has since undergone major changes and additions. Its strategic situation is fully in the highest place of the great rock that dominates the village. The importance of its geographic location fortification and led him to be considered the "right eye" of the Moorish kingdom of Granada, permanently connected through a network of towers with the castles of Moclín and Montefrío. Currently they are undergoing excavations in it, having found ruins of great archaeological value that soon will be admired by all.

Church of the Incarnation (Illora)

The church was built on land occupied by a mosque probably first and one after Mudejar church, which coexist with the current until 1754. The works are iniciarion in 1541 with the traces of the chancel and tower, by Diego de Siloam. The ship works carried out by Juan de Maeda, continued until mid-eighteenth century, with works in the vault of the ships and the choir.

Federico García Lorca was a poet, playwright and prose writer Spanish, also known for his skill in many other arts. It attached to the Generation of 27, it is the most influential poet and popularity of the twentieth century Spanish literature. As a playwright, he is considered one of the summits of the Spanish theater of the twentieth century, along with Valle-Inclan and Buero Vallejo. I was shot after the military uprising that led to the Spanish Civil War. Location Calle Poeta Garcia Lorca, 4, Fuentevaqueros, Granada

In the archaeological area called "Las Peñas de los Gitanos" site located 5 km from Montefrío, we find traces of several civilizations. This space forms one of the most complete and important fields of Andalusia. Apart from caves and natural shelters (used by early settlers as room), it has different towns: altomedieval-Visigoths, Iberian-Roman and Andalusian. Among its 5 necropolis add a hundred megalithic burials.

Located in the vicinity of the Cathedral, the Alcaicería of Granada today is dedicated to the souvenir shops and tourist souvenirs, which sells Granada craft: the popular earthenware Fajalauza, the wood inlay or intarsia, and lampposts colored glass . It is a typical neighborhood of Muslim culture, made up of narrow streets around which the houses are lined up and the souk or market where it is manufactured and sold silk stood. The Grand Bazaar of Granada stretched from Plaza Nueva to Plaza Bib-Rambla, in the very heart of the Islamic medina, near the mosque.

Enter Sacromonte is like being in another world. Despite the short distance, just a few minutes walk from the Albaicín and 20 only in the city center, the atmosphere is generally more rural and quiet. The area is perched on the hill overlooking the Darro Valparaíso Valley. It owes its name to the abbey on the top of the hill, founded in the seventeenth century. Traditionally, home of the Gypsies, artists and bohemians, its history as a neighborhood really began in the sixteenth century, when the Moors and Jews were expelled from their homes in the city and began to make their homes beyond walls. Although its origin is uncertain, the caves of Sacromonte became the traditional houses of the area.

The Albaicin is a world apart in Granada whole. This is due to the strong Muslim influence. It was in this place where the first Muslim court in the eleventh century, was erected zirí. This is a neighborhood to relax, to go all streets and discover things that are not in any guide. No visit to Albaycin can be complete without admiring the panoramic view from the Alhambra neighborhood; Grenadians something kings built the palace up there. The Albaicin is a neighborhood to experience the atmosphere of the tapas bars and terraces. And as point and followed, here there is no end, watch a sunset over the Alhambra, at the precise moment it turns red

The Alhambra is an Andalusian palatial city, formed by a group of palaces, gardens and strength (palace or al-Qasr القصر) which housed a real city within the city of Granada, which served as shelter to the monarch and the court of the Kingdom Nazari of Granada.

NATURAL ROUTES. Íllora and the municipality has a riequeza and natural variety, so then a series of routes through the various roads, paths and trails of the municipality, which can be done either on foot or on horseback exposed.
