Perfect for exploring the stunning Ceredigion coast path, and beaches including National Trust managed Penbryn. It has convenient access to two excellent pubs, an award winning farm shop, supermarket and friendly cafes. The local ‘cardibus’ passes twice daily. Other activities include dolphin watching, kayaking, coasteering, golf, horse riding, some of the best river fishing in UK, and even dry slope skiing. The cottage is set on it’s own along a quiet lane about a mile from the sea, with wide views across the countryside and dark night skies. It’s a light, spacious yet cosy house that mixes traditional and contemporary décor to provide comfortable spaces for all weathers and seasons. There’s a log burner, oak table and sofa in the dining room, and separate comfortable sitting room with gas fire and two sofas. The well-equipped modern kitchen opens onto a large South facing conservatory with a table seating six, and space to relax. Two generous bedrooms upstairs provide flexible sleeping arrangements in one kingsize, one double and a single bed with an additional comfortable sofa bed in the sitting room downstairs, enabling suitable accommodation for families or small groups, hikers and outdoor adventurers, and couples looking for a quiet retreat.

The South West facing enclosed garden has lawn with picnic bench, a sheltered walled garden in the original stone cowshed, a shallow pond, fire pit, trampoline and a games shed for safe equipment storage.

During peak periods (Christmas, Easter and school holidays), the minimum stay is 7 nights and the change over day is Friday.

Different arrangements are possible for longer stays, please enquire.

Why Anna Lucas&Bruno Donis chose Llandysul

We found the cottage on a whim. It's in a fantastic location and has a great feeling to it with it's wooden panelled walls, sunrise visible from the beds, bright conservatory and cosy log burner. The garden is full of different spots to play or relax with it's dry stone walls, wild planting, pond, mini trampoline and basketball net. It's the perfect mix of relaxed and cosy, light and open. The views are great, skies are dark and twinkling and the beauty of the local beaches, rugged coastline and wooded valleys keeps on delivering whatever the season. The area is very friendly, and keeps on satisfying us.

What makes this house unique

The cottage was renovated by the previous owner from a wreck. It still retains it's character, with original timber walls and an exposed fireplace, but also benefits from good insulation and a conservatory! The bedrooms have stunning views of the landscape, you feel away from it all, whilst the friendly village of Llangrannog with it's beach and pubs is only 2miles away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Guest review from a couple late June 2016.

We spent a delightful week at Foel in late June. The house is perfectly located being quite remote enabling much privacy, but still within reach of many towns, award winning beaches and stunning coastal paths. We enjoyed a number of walks directly from the house. We indulged in fresh strawberries picked from the beautiful garden and would often sit and eat breakfast sitting at the garden table sheltered by the remains of an old stone farm building.

The interior of the house is very tasteful and understated and the well equipped kitchen has everything you need if you fancy a spot of ‘proper’ cooking. The bedrooms are light and airy and offer far reaching views across the countryside. We often didn’t want to pull down the blinds as we lay mesmerised by the moon that can into view through the window. The area far exceeded our expectations in terms of beauty, the deep winding lanes lined with vibrant foxgloves, flashes of blue sky and sea. The rugged coastline is a geological marvel and can be viewed via boat sailing from New Quay ( you might spot a dolphin or two).

I could go on endlessly about the magical Foel. If you like peace and quiet, great views, swimming on some of the cleanest beaches in the UK, cosy pubs, great fish and chips, coastal walks, cycling around winding lanes or simply sitting in the garden watching the bees buzz around then Foel is the place for you.

Comfortable, well equipped and full of character.

Lovely house and lots to do and explore nearby. We enjoyed walking along the coastal path, a dolphin spotting boat trip from New Quay, comedy at Cardigan castle, eating out at Llangranog Beach Hut, Cardigan Pizza Tipi and Tresaith Ship Inn.

Incredible peaceful location.

  • 5 of 5

This comfortable cottage enjoys a remarkable situation, in the middle of the countryside on a road hardly used by traffic. I think we heard five vehicles pass during our 48-hour stay. We were blessed with wonderful weather, so made good use of the garden for meals, with incredible views. The kitchen is very well equipped, but be sure to bring everything you need in terms of food and drink, including milk, bread, tea bags etc - the nearest shop is 2.5 miles away and has an extremely modest selection of essentials (no fruit or veg). Wonderful coastal and inland walks straight from the cottage door. We hope to visit again!

Cosy as well as stylish - everyone in the family loved the house and garden

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four stayed for two nights in May. We were delighted and impressed to find the house and gardens so stylish, thoughtfully laid out and cosy! My daughter and I spent most of our indoor time in the sunny conservatory. The bedrooms are large with amazing views and the kitchen contained everything we needed. The maps, hidden stash of emergency supplies and reference books made us feel so looked after! The 'Beach hut' bistro in Llangrannog has great food and the walk from the Plwmp Pudding cafe through the woods to the beach is spectacular.

An absolute treat!

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from Foel. It was a really comfortable and happy stay. The location is great. The local beach is stunning and close by. I would highly recommend making the most of the local businesses, within Llangrannog and the wider local area, whose customer service we found to be exceptional (specifically at the local pubs, Penllain garage, Sarnau farm shop, Mark Webb - butchers, staff at Cardigan castle, and the lady in Cardigan sweet shop, and the coffee in the coffee shop at Llangrannog is very good too). The house is remarkably well equipped. I haven't visited this particular part of Wales before but wouldn't hesitate, and hope, to return to both Llangrannog and Foel. It also has the best view from a bathroom I have ever known!

The cottage is on the spectacular Ceredigion Heritage Coast path, just over a mile from the sea, with lovely open views of rural West Wales all around it. The local town of Llangrannog is a friendly small beach town with two pubs, two cafes, a farmers market and grocers. The nearby towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Aberaeron offer great food, antiques and local food shopping. The River Teifi is a great river for fishing and watching the salmon leap. There are many other things of interest within an hours drive including gardens, museums and castles, outdoor activity centres, a honey farm, Welsh woollen museum, National Trust landscape and property etc. This stretch of coast has some of the UKs best dolphin and seal watching with boat trips from New Quay. Guests have travelled from here into Pembrokeshire to St Davids and the Preselli hills, Poppet sands, to Kayak along the coast. You can pick up eggs, homemade jam, and logs from many honesty stalls along the country lanes.
