New for Summer 2016!
No 1 Place de la Liberté is a beautiful one bedroom period apartment with a pretty walled courtyard garden in the very heart of medieval Sarlat.
It is a luxury first floor flat that has many lovely features including exposed stone and wooden floors. The flat has been decorated and furnished in a way that showcases and maximises modern comfort, style and convenience while complementing the period charm of the building. Quality fixtures and fittings have been used throughout.
The apartment is situated right in the centre of Sarlat meaning that there are restaurants, bars, cafés, shops and amazing sights to see right on your doorstep.
The apartment is accessed via a stunning entrance that used to be one of the main streets into Sarlat hundreds of years ago; the carved stone and woodwork is amazingly beautiful and evokes thoughts of times long ago.
The layout of the flat consists of an open plan living area with painted wooden floor and a magnificent honey coloured stone fireplace - which is now used as the dining area. The kitchen area has been fully renovated and boasts high quality granite worktops, a stone sink and top of the range electrical appliances.
The bedroom is long and thin and has an authentic wooden floor, there is a double bed and a wardrobe with ample hanging space and shelving.
The bathroom has beautiful exposed stone walls, travertine stone tiling and a double shower.
Unusually for Sarlat, the apartment has its own courtyard garden, which is NW facing, allowing for barbecues, al fresco dining and aperitifs outside! The courtyard is a mixture of decking and gravel and is planted with flowers and herbs. There is a gas barbecue and garden furniture.
Place de la Liberté is the heart of Sarlat and is THE place to sit at one of the cafés or bars and watch the world go by. In the summer months there are also fantastic street performers to keep you entertained.
Sarlat has a thriving and bustling market every Wednesday and Saturday and it is a joy to leave the apartment and step out into the centre of the market, and then to spend an hour or several perusing the many stalls containing fresh local produce and delicacies as well as crafts, gift, clothes and much more.
The apartment is in the centre of a thriving town and as such you may at times hear sounds and noises associated with this. If you prefer a more rural setting then please check out our other rental properties located at La Blanquette, in a rural location just 6km outside of Sarlat.
Further afield, there is so much to do in the Dordogne area, including canoeing and kayaking, cycling, visiting castles, exploring caves, wandering around bastide towns, countryside walks... you could be kept busy for years! Outside of the Dordogne the wine regions of Bergerac (1 hour) and Bordeaux (2 hours) are highly accessible.
