Fantastic place to stay with such beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

We booked this place to attend a wedding. This is a really lovely place to stay. The whole experience has been seamless with prompt replies from the owner Dominic. Every effort was made to make us feel welcome and to make sure that our needs were catered for. Orton Hall is beautiful with lovely grounds and some fun facilities including an ornate chess board and snooker table. The Rochester Wing is furnished beautifully, is warm and comfortable. It was absolutely spotless when we arrived. The kitchen is really well stocked with some really thoughtful twists: dishwasher tabs and medicine spoons for children.

We met a long term resident of the Hal who is quite the photographer and was so welcoming - red squirrels live in the grounds, our children loved it.

We made a short journey to the Black Swan in Ravenstonedale and really enjoyed the Scarecrow festival.

Loved every minute. Thank you guys.

Fantastic Accomodation & Location

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a week staying at Orton Hall & do not have a bad word to say. Our children absolutely loved it and felt like a Prince & Princess especially in the 4 poster bed. It was very clean to an extremely high standard and the grounds were beautiful, especially watching the rabbits in the morning.

If we are ever in the area again we will be returning.

regal house

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in Orton Hall. The Rochester wing was plenty large enough for our family of 6. The house is so interesting with all the wood paneling and decorations. Very quiet and peaceful and we loved walking around in the little wooded area and also in the village of Orton.

Tranquil stay in a beautiful house.

  • 5 of 5

Very smooth booking process and property lived up to its description and pictures.

Quality furnishings and bedding. Set on the edge of a small village which had a pub and a cafe/chocolate factory both within easy walking distance. Highly recommended.

Good location in a charming village

  • 3 of 5

The village of Upton is wonderful and charming and an easy walk from Upton Hall. The specific accommodation, the Rochester Wing, is up three flights of stairs within the 14 units at Upton Hall. The unit is well furnished and has good accommodations, but the public spaces at Upton Hall are in poor condition with lots of odor of mustiness, and very dark - needs lots of refurbishment. Not a good location for children. Overall, we loved the village, liked our specific unit, but very disappointed by the shared public spaces of Upton Hall.

Relaxing old world atmosphere with mod cons.Thoroughly enjoyed

  • 5 of 5

Staying in the Rochester Wing was a wonderful experience for five friends, in glorious weather early June. Slept soundly in the comfy beds with only the owls hooting for night noise. Visited Lowther Castle and Appleby Horse Fair, both great days out. meals made in the evenings in well equipped kitchen, Pimms drunk in the Great Hall in style! came home refreshed and willing to recommend the venue to friends .
