This property is registered as a 'rental' with Valencian Tourism Board, a legal requirement for the region and a stipulation of most travel insurance policies.

Built to a high standard (locally known as 'Quara' build) and with all modern conveniences, this quality penthouse apartment is a new listing to the rental market.

The property ~effectively 'first floor'~ faces south with a view across grassland and almond trees, extending to distant views of the sea.

This unusually peaceful and private aspect offers tranquility and calm as you relax on either the lower terrace or upstairs on the spacious roof terrace.

The property is fully equipped with brand new items and furnishings and includes a microwave/grill, toaster, kettle, cafetiere, coffee maker, washing machine and dishwasher. There is even a kitchen sink, incase you think you might need one. The roof terrace has a large, built-in brick barbecue.

UK TV is included as is unlimited, free use of reliable Wi-fi. (The mast is just across the field.) Air con/heating is installed for your further comfort.

Both bedrooms have ceiling fans.

The community pool is less than a minutes walk away and has a separate shallow children's pool (0.5m). Unlike most communal pools, it is not overlooked. Only 36 properties have gated access, via key.

Adjacent to the pool is a modest children's playground.

The Area:

Several internationally​ acknowledged golf courses are in the immediate vicinity including Villamartin itself. Other popular courses include Las Ramblas, Campoamar and La Finca. (Links will be sent on request.)

Having these golf courses in close proximity has helped to ensure an excellent entertainment and facilities infrastructure and so there is plenty to do for golfers and non-golfers alike.

Water~sport parks are 15/20 minutes away by car, at Torrevieja, Aquopolis and Aquapark Flamingo (Links will be sent on request.)

The famous Villamartin Plaza is a short stroll along quiet roads or off-road footpaths and is a two-tier medley of restaurants and bars, representing at least six countries. There is also a supermarket and various other retail outlets including a hairdresser, chip shop, dentist, doctors and estate agents. (Link on request.)

Live entertainment is sometimes performed from the podium in the middle of the square.

Local beaches are 'blue flag' status, depicting a high standard of water quality and safety.

The nearby La Zenia Boulevard has in excess of 150 shops and there are numerous restaurants to choose from, as a pleasant alternative to eating out at the Plaza. (Link on request.)

Live entertainment is also often performed here.

Younger children are well catered for on the top floor with their very own, bespoke 'Boulevard.'

Fitness fanatics can sweat as much as they like at the ever popular fitness centre.

Underground parking is free and there is lots of it.

This impressive, newly opened boulevard is open until late, including off-season e.g. 2200hrs on a sunday.

Importantly, by day or night, the atmosphere is happy, calm and safe which reflects the area generally.

Owners Tip: don't forget where you parked; the concrete support pillars are colour, letter and number coded to assist you. Take a photo!

Why Peter B chose Orihuela

This particular property is unusual in that its immediate surrounds has a calm, luxurious air about it and yet, the bustle and buzz of the Plaza is a short, relaxing stroll away, either by road or peaceful off-road footpaths. Driving there is a question of 'up to the top of the road, turn left and left again: park up!'

It's 2 minutes for slow drivers.

For those without a car, a bus network leaves from the bus stop by the Plaza and will take you to the beaches, La Zenia Boulevard, golf courses and other popular hotspots. Taxis are available from the same location.

The south~facing view from both the lower and roof terrace is unusually peaceful and private, courtesy of rustic grassland and almond trees directly opposite the property and with views towards the sea.

During your stay here, you will appreciate not being overlooked by properties opposite, which adds to the exclusive quality of this first floor penthouse apartment and, indeed, this particular area. It is acknowledged as the 'quality' side of Villamartin.

On the other side of the property, your privacy is rather beautifully shielded by a double, 'V'-shaped palm tree (called Harvey.)

What makes this apartment unique

Guests have UK TV with all main terrestrial channels and including Film 4, More 4, E4, History, Discovery and two Eurosport channels. Unlimited use of a personal Wi-Fi facility -as opposed to a community~shared service- helps ensure a strong to excellent signal. (Please be aware there are more power/Wi-Fi outages in Spain than UK; infrequent nonetheless.)

Air con/heating is available via a sophisticated 'Digital Inverter' type unit.

All equipment and furnishings are new from 2016/17

Lovely Apartment in a great position

The apartment was lovely, clean, bright, comfortable and with great views across open land to the sea, sunsets and sunrises were amazing. The apartment is within easy walking distance of Villamartin Plaza its restaurants, cafes, banks and supermarket, although a car does make access to areas further afield easier. The Landlord was most efficient and sent us lots of information and instructions for the working of all the equipment in the apartment. I cannot recommend the apartment highly enough and I am hoping that we get to stay there again.

Great location

My wife and I stayed at the property for two weeks in August/September 2017. We loved the location. The property is well maintained and has all the amenities that you require. The area is quiet and is an easy stroll into Villamartin. It has a lovely open outlook over fields to the front. The communal pool is beautiful. Immaculately maintained and very quiet. A car is probably not essential as there are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. If a car is available there is a modern shopping centre at La Zenia within 5 minutes. It is also a great base for exploring the area. There are some beautiful walks in the immediate area.

We found the owner Peter B to be extremely helpful. He could not have done more to provide us with information about the area in advance of our stay. He also worked very hard on our behalf when we decided to extend our stay. Cannot praise him enough!

What a holiday

The property we stayed in was lovely, tastefully decorated and had ample room for a family of five. It was equipped with everything needed for a home from home. The pool was a big favourite with us all and was only a short walk from our door. Although a shared pool we never found it overcrowded and even had it to ourselves on a few occasions plus it is really well maintained. We didn't hire a car on our holiday as it was our first trip here so didn't know exactly what to expect. The nearest shop is about a 10 min walk (a bit longer on our first trip but found a few shortcuts) there are also plenty of great restaurants, bars etc in the same area. For a trip to the beach we hired a taxi which we found reliable and were able to use for a few more sightseeing trips. The owner of the property was amazing with information and communication and definitely made our trip a whole lot easier with all his advice. I would definitely recommend this property for a family or couple as it is really peaceful and you can relax with a book at the pool or for a bit more of a buzz a short walk will give you plenty of variety.

Wonderful time!!

We have just returned from ten days of rest and relaxation in the sunshine, staying at this great apartment in Villamartin. We are already thinking of when we can fit another break in here because we enjoyed it so much!

From the minute we arrived we felt completely at home there. The owner, Peter, has gone to a great deal of trouble to make sure that you have everything you need to be able to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The apartment itself is well furnished, beautifully presented and very clean throughout. We chose not to have a car and found that the nearest bars, restaurants and supermarkets were only a pleasant 20mins stroll away - easily accessible. There were plenty of taxis in the nearby town that could take you to neighbouring areas if you fancied venturing further afield, although the buses were a bit hit and miss!! We didn't find this a problem and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A word about the owner - We can't praise him enough! He is genuinely keen for you to enjoy your stay and will go out of his way to ensure that you have all you need and more. He thoughtfully provides you with lots of information before you arrive on how the kitchen appliances work etc. and the TV and Wifi so that you are not left floundering and also has left information and maps on places to visit and good restaurants to try. We found this very helpful. He also arranged transport for us from the airport and back and even sent a photo of our driver Kevin so that we could spot him at the airport! Big thanks also to Kevin for all his help.

Lastly - a word about security. The owner reassured us completely about how secure the apartment is before we went and he was completely right. We felt completely safe while there and also walking around the area.

We can't thank him enough for allowing us to stay and we will definitely be back - we think it's a little treasure!

Exchange is no robbery

My second stay here. And I hope it won't be my last.

The weather was great and this Penthouse first floor Apartment and ist Location is perfect for either a drive or a walk to some excellent restaurants and bars.

Ask Pete, the owner, how to get to Ellie's bar, a 20 minute walk to a super, efficiently run Tapas bar with feisty, sharp-witted, intuitively superb Service from the very lovely Russian Lady, Ellie. The lager is great and served from pint glasses from the freezer. And ask for the Jameson's which is almost served by the pint. I suggest you walk.

The spacious roof terrace is perfect for sunning, reading or grill parties and offers a clear view to the coast or open fields.

The road is quiet and the lowe terrace is great for breakfast and the late evenings are so tranquil. We found the owner#s description to be 'as is' which is important from th travellers' persective.

Pete has a finely-tuned attention to detail and a Passion that his guests have the best (and safest) of times while his guests. It is clear that he has invested a lot of time and money to this end and this was obvious when we booked the first time, last year.

Pete gets in touch to wish you a safe journey and answer any last minute questions you may have and he then checks in by email to see if you have arrived safely and a few days in to see if all is going well. This is a nice touch.

The beds are quite comfortable and the two Singles can easily be pulled together for a double, should two couples be staying. The other Equipment is of similar high Standard and well maintained. we replaced tea bags, dihwasher tablets and the such as we u´sed it. There was plenty considering it is self-catering. A dishwasher is nice shooul you hate washing up.

Pete sent us clear and well-timed instructions about various things including how to use the equipment remotes, ect. This was reassuring and made for an easy stay.

The very close and well kept communal swimming pool was a treat.

All in all, it was quite a pleasant stay here,. The location, well kept apartment and the owner's attention speak for themself.

Villamartin Plaza is a 2 minute drive/15 minute stroll and has many restaurants and bars representing at least six countries. (There are also nearer bars/restaurants along the way.) The Plaza has a supermarket, hairdressers, a post office and various small shops. Live entertainment is often on offer -and particularly so in high season- on the central podium which adds to the festive, celebratory atmosphere.

An ATM bank machine is on the other side of the road from the front entrance.

Late evening and early morning 'check-ins' and 'check-outs' are subject to an 'after hours' supplement by local management.

A request for a late check-out that renders that night un-rentable is offered at a discounted rate for bookings of more than 5 days.

The in-house, secure Wi-Fi system is complimentary as is the use of a personal safe.
The owner makes an allowance of €10 per 7 days which will accommodate typical electricity usage. Usage beyond this is deducted from the deposit.
