Lovely villa stunning views and service from cleaning lady under par performance from agent
Stayed in Aug 2018 found villa to be of good standard. Great service from the cleaning lady who was friendly and couldn’t have done more for us. Photos on website do hide very well a building that does block a portion of your view, this really should have been photographed. Otherwise lovely view and although other villas behind it was fairly private.
Weather was good except we now know that August is exceptionally windy and with the villa located where it was we had the majority of our stay in a sunny wind tunnel, so bad that on some occasions the pool started emptying itself onto the patio which made it very slippery, these comments are not a criticism but just making others aware that this is the case so they can make the choice.
On the agent and owner front i had a price quoted for the villa which consisted of a transferred amount with a remaining amount to be paid on arrival by cash or in advance by card. We were told that if we paid in cash there would be a discount. This discount was misleading and confusing as they added the *** Euro as a card fee afterwards and then offered to take it off for cash.
We were told the owner would come to collect the cash the next day but 2 days before we left we still had no sight of the owner meaning we had over *****Euro in the house for 9 days with no room safe to put it in. Eventually 2 days before we left the cleaning lady said the owner had asked us to pay her, so evidently the owner was too busy to take out money personally. I have not even been given a receipt for my money. Maybe this is now the Greek way but in the uk very unusual.
Also some building work locally that disturbed the peace and a German shepherd in the house below that barked at you every time you arrived or left.
In a nutshell the villa was good but was spoiled by the wind which blew all day an woke you up multiple times every night as it whistles round the shutters making a loud noise. This would be a fantastic villa minus the wind the confusing agent lack of owner interest and barking dog.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay in our Villa and we really appreciate the feedback. Please allow us to also pass you some further feedback on your comments.
We would like to kindly inform you that all the payment details are exactly as stated within the rental agreement, and we did our best in supporting you and explained you everything accordingly as there was a misunderstanding from your part. As it is of high importance to us that you are ok and feeling comfortable when doing your payment, we gladly offered you the opportunity to take your time and check everything after you were back home for your better service.
We did our very best to support you and were happy to give you all the information you needed and even tried to personally contact you for further assistance. Despite our efforts in assisting you, you have never paid the final amount as agreed, and therefore no receipt could be provided yet.
Furthermore please note that upon your arrival the owner was there to personally welcome you and you had the opportunity to make the payment directly then as we kindly asked you to. However of course the owner gladly gave you the space, as you did not initiate the payment as agreed yourself and we do not feel nice to force this from our part, for your better welcome!
We hope that this feedback would be valuable to comprehend our part also. As you can see from our reviews, our guests overall are very happy with our services!
Additionally we are glad to further assist you and remain at your disposal for any further information at all you may require, and would be pleased to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Think Villa Team
Amazing views but space is limited
We were happy to stay in this villa, enjoyed the stunning view and the Plakias area in general. The owner greeted us personally and made us feel very welcome. She responded well to some of the issues we had with the equipment in the villa and the pool lighting. The cleaning lady came a few times throughout our stay and was very friendly. Some things that could have worked better: due to limited space inside the villa, some of the equipment (TV, DVD etc) could have been placed better, lack of sockets in the kitchen, cables running in easy reach of children. There is also a problem with damp in the kitchen units (stench) and drainage upstairs (again stench) which needs looking into. Some people, especially with children, may be put off by the large barking dog in the neighbouring house, greeting you when leaving or arriving. We also found the pool water very cold, which was surprising considering it was over 30 degrees throughout our stay in August. Generally a nice place but don’t think we will be going back.
Dear Tanya, thank you for taking the time to review your stay in our Villa and we really appreciate your lovely comments! We would like to inform you that we have already been in contact with the owner of the villa and we will make sure all the issues you have mentioned to be resolved! We hope to have the chance to welcome you in one of our villas! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Beautiful views from a very well equipped villa. Local village restaurants were fabulous.
Extremely well presented villa with everything you need for a relaxing break. Views are spectacular. Walk to the local village is tough.... uphill and about 20 mins... would recommend a car! Local restaurants are super. Simple food but exceptional quality and a really friendly service. Great value too.
Dear Lisa , we are truly happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and we are looking forward to welcome you "home" again! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Beautiful quite location.
Loved the location and the views. Short walk up to Sellia which has a couple of lovely Tavernas that are well worth a visit. Also has a supermarket. You'll will need a car Would have no problem recommending this villa. A couple of minor issues. One was the wind which can really blow and kept me awake a few nights. A welcome pack giving local information would have been nice but that said you do have wifi. If I ever go back to this part of the world I would stay here again.
Dear James, we are really glad that you had a comfortable stay in our Villa and we are thankful for your beautiful review and comments! Regards, ThinkVilla Team
Perfect villa for a peaceful / adventurous break
Super villa with STUNNING views and everything you need for your holiday. The villa is impeccably clean and just as it appears in the photos. Valia from think villa.com and Eleanna, the villa owner, were both lovely people to deal with. Excellent location just outside the pretty little village of Sellia. We ventured far as we had a car but learnt that we need not have as everything for a perfect holiday can be found in the Rethymnon area. Every meal we ate was fantastic and very reasonably priced even in the more touristy areas. My personal highlights were shopping for souvenirs in the old town at Rethymnon followed by lunch at Avli restaurant, lazing on the local beach at Rodakino and climbing the rocks and splashing out on hiring a small boat for the day from Hora Sfakion and visiting Louthra, Samari gorge and small coves.
£120, no licence required - worth every penny for the experience. Enjoy!
Dear Jacqueline, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an amazing review about our Villa! It was our pleasure having you as guests! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Excellent conditions, good restaurants around
Me and my family enjoyed a lot our stay. Good accommodation for a family with kids, friendly owners, very good support from Valia who helped us to book and be accommodated. Don't miss the restaurants in the village, near the villa, great view and food, very friendly staff !
Dear Remus, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an amazing review about our Villa! We hope to have you back soon! Regards, ThinkVilla Team.
Selia Villas are located in the traditional village of Selia, situated on the south coast of Rethymno, where guests can find many necessities they need such as tavernas and a bakery within 2 minutes walking distance.
The world famous beach of Plakias and the homonym sea front village, can be reached within 9 minutes by car. The sandy beach is very well organised, providing sun beds, umbrellas, changing rooms, showers, etc. The rocks surrounding the beach are ideal for fishing and snorkelling, as well. The road along the beach is also ideal for walking or cycling. Along the main road of the village there are several supermarkets, bakeries, ATM machines, post office, a doctor’s as well as a dentist’s office, restaurants, tavernas, a pastry shop, a bakery, cafes and beach bars while on the beach there are tamarisk trees, water sports, beach volley courts, snack bars and other shops offer a very wide range of products, including local and traditional goods.
The long, sandy beach of Souda, which is just a short drive from the villa, 10 minutes, is well organised with sun beds and umbrellas.
Also the well known beaches of Schinaria, Ammoudaki and Damnoni which are definitely considered as the beauty of the south cost, are close and can be reached within a 10 minutes drive.
Sea waters are warm in July and August, but be prepared to bathe in Saharan-style heat and the ‘meltémi’, the northerly wind which regularly blasts beaches. On the other hand the winds also drive away the mosquitoes and break through that solid wall of summer heat. These breezes are known to locals by individual names, depending on where they come from, how long they stay, and what gifts they bring with them.
Quoted prices include all taxes and services, housekeeping, free Wi-Fi, A/C and welcome offer. There are no hidden costs. Rates are subject to change until the reservation is confirmed.
