Why Marek Pawlik chose Machynlleth
its very rare to have the mountains so close to the sea as in this part of Wales .

Lots of space. Loved the outdoor fire. We had trouble finding the house in the dark...but if we had read instructions more carefully we would have been fine! Loved listening to the river at night...great sleep therapy! Some recommended walks from the house would have been welcome...we did try a couple of attempts but got stuck because so overgrown! But it was fun exploring the area anyway and we enjoyed ourselves. Found plenty to keep ourselves entertained within half an hours drive which was great. House really well equipped and staying there was easy and the owner responded so quickly to our question which was great.
Loved our week here so much we got back and booked the first week available. Can't wait, this place is amazing.
Wilderness Retreat - so peaceful and restful
An isolated location which suited us ideally. Every facility provided inc salt, pepper, cooking oil and so much more ... and a nice bottle of red wine as a welcome gift.
Perfect in every way!
If you're looking for a quiet, remote family (and dog friendly) retreat that's within a short drive of the coast and a variety of attractions then you've hit the jackpot!
The 3 (4 on request) bedroom detached old stone cottage stands alone in a lofted position within a forest. Access is along a very long (well over a mile) narrow track (part smooth tarmac part rough terrain but OK for all cars).
It's actually bigger than the photos suggest: a good size lounge with two large sofas, chairs and dining table leads through to a large kitchen with table to seat 6 and fully kitted out with everything you need including dishwasher, microwave, toaster and very large fridge freezer. There's a separate utility area with washing machine and tumble drier too.
Downstairs you'll also find a fantastic and modern shower room with giant walk in shower and also a TV snug room.
There's absolutely no mobile signal but WIFI is excellent with boosters all round the place.
Upstairs are 4 bedrooms although the 4th is only set up on request. The master bedroom is huge ... much bigger that photo suggests. Beds all very comfy. There's also a second bathroom with bath .
Central heating is included and there's a huge wood-burner in the lounge with an unlimited supply of wood.
Outside the actual garden is very large and pretty secure so, if you're taking dogs (like we did) there's no problem at all. There's a camp fire area at the front with log seating and a barbecue, fire pit and seating area on decking area fenced and looking down onto a fast flowing stream.
There's no other houses in view - the only neighbours are the wild horses with do not get into the garden but roam free up to the boundary. They are beautiful animals but very timid and will move away if you go near them.
Walking is brilliant as you're literally in a forest - I walked my two dogs down the track and into the forest where you can access the coastal path every night ... fantastic.
The owner, Marek, is very attentive and easy to deal with. He's quick to respond and you can tell he really wants you to have a good holiday and enjoy his cottage. He's created a relaxing vibe to the place where you immediately feel at home and provides some nice touches too - a personal welcome note, a mobile number in case of problems and a few nice arrival gifts too.
Plenty to do in the area too - nature reserves, nice towns and lovely beaches within 30 minute drive.
One of the best cottage holidays we've had.
Lovely property. Peaceful location
A lovely farmhouse at the end of a track. Comfortable and a home from home. Kitchen well equipped. Surrounded by woods. Wild ponies in the area. Hope to return.
The house was beautiful as well as the surounding countryside a get away from paradise
This was my first experience of a holiday let and it didn't disappoint. Very peiceful and out of the way yet a relatively short drive to the beach. There was everything you could need at the house and it was nice to let the dogs out and not worry about them which they loved. We caught a glimps of the wild horses many times even a foal which was lovely to see. My husband daughter and son in law loved the walks. Hope to return again.
Beautiful coastal towns of Tywyn , Aberdovey and Borth all have lovely sea fronts and good food and drink. The area surrounding the cottage is perfect for hiking , walking ,bird watching, mountain biking ,as it is surrounded by hills and forests and yet only 3 miles in a straight line to the coast. There is a stream next to the cottage with its own waterfall .There are lots of other rivers nearby . Machynlleth is a bustling market town , holding a weekly market every Wednesday.
