La Maison du Bourg is a large stone built farmhouse which has been tastefully and sympathetically renovated, maintaining many original features: flagged floor in kitchen, exposed stone and beams throughout, using local materials where possible. La Maison du Bourg is our permanent home out of season and is furnished as such, making it a little more comfortable and homely than the average gite. We have tried to keep the French feel in the house whilst including modern touches for comfort. The kitchen is well equipped with: dishwasher; microwave; 2 fridges and fridge-freezer. The stone walls are extremely thick keeping the house cool in summer and warm in winter.
The house is set in an elevated, west facing position overlooking the village and a stone’s throw from the newly renovated 12th Century church. Accessed along a private road and with little passing traffic, apart from the occasional tractor, you can be sure of privacy and tranquility. The garden is large and consists of a paved terrace outside the door, with grassed areas beyond, fields for the animals, an area of woodland and a "work in progress" which is a small (but growing) kitchen garden from which fruit and vegetables can be purchased, when available. We keep sheep, chickens and sometimes pigs.
Attached to the house is a large utility room where you can find the washing machine, toys, ball games, seat cushions, picnic and bbq items and pool/beach towels.
Halfway between the towns of Eymoutiers and Peyrat le Chateau in the Haute Vienne, Limousin. St Amand le Petit is set in farmland and although the hamlet is peaceful, there is plenty to do in the area. This unspoilt (and largely unknown) region of France is perfect for families or groups, with a wide variety of activities available. Ideal for: cyclists; walkers; bird-watchers; artists; canoeists; nature lovers … in fact anyone who loves being surrounded by nature and wants to enjoy a ‘greener’ holiday.
A complimentary Welcome Pack is provided for all stays of 7 days and over.
For colder weather we can provide wood for the cuisiniere for which the cost would depend on the amount used, maximum 50 euros per week (it would have to be really cold to use this amount of wood.)
We charge for linen/towels as some people prefer to bring their own and it would depend on the number of people staying. For stays of over 7 days we provide a complimentary change of linen after 7 days. Each person receives a hand towel, bath sheet and face cloth.
The splash pool uses salt water with an electrolysis system.
We have a large range of equipment for babies and children as we are aware that space is limited when travelling. List can be provided on request.
