About Brenda Connely
We are Ted and Brenda Connely. Brenda grew up in Forks. Ted is from Nebraska but has been here on the Olympic Peninsula since 1976. We were living in Port Angeles when we found our river place. A friend mentioned the property might be available. We bought it and spent every spare moment for the next four years fixing up the old house on the property. One day in March of 2004 Brenda came back to the cabin from work in Port Angeles carrying Sam the cat, who had been the only one occupying the house in Port Angeles most of the time. 'We live here now,' she announced, 'we're always here anyway.' She got no argument from Ted and so the house in Port Angeles was sold and we became full time residents at the cabin. Since the cabin had only one bedroom and no garage, we decided to take care of both problems at once and build a garage with an apartment above. The loft was our guest room until we decided to buy a larger home closer to Forks, still on the river but not as special. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell the Riverside place so we decided to share it with others by turning in into a vacation rental. It has been gratifying to see our guests love it too. So many have told us they don't want to leave at the end of their stay.
Brenda Connely purchased this Apartment in 1995
Why Brenda Connely chose Port Angeles
Even though the property was all grown up with weeds and the house was very run down, we knew at first sight this was our place. The sparkling river running along the edge of the yard, the golden light coming through the trees, just the peaceful feel of the place. Many guests have used the word 'magical' to describe their feelings about the place.
What makes this Apartment unique
We originally bought this property for our own vacation home with no thought of its potential as a vacation rental property. But not only is it a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming spot to stay, it is very handily located within an hour's drive of nearly all the attractions of the northwest section of Olympic National Park. Many guest comment on what a great base camp it is for seeing the park. We have often heard how nice it is to come home to after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the deck, sit by the river, build a fire in the firepit, and sleep in the very comfortable beds.

In my work I like to under promise and over deliver. In many of the trips I take and places we stay, I have gotten to a point to lower expectations because nothing is ever the way it looks and/or describes. But we were so pleasantly surprised about the cozy cottage on the sol duc. Better than expected, beautiful, peaceful. Had everything plus more. Look foward to coming back, this will be our goto on the OP if its available!
What a wonderful review! I am moving it to the top of the list. Thank you so much. It means a lot to us personally when people are happy with our place, and it doesn't hurt business either. Hope you can come back soon and often.

Excellent stay- would love to go back!
Wonderful location. Loved the grounds and the loft. Thoughtful attention to detail.
Beautiful river view
The view of the Sol Duc River is the highlight of the stay. The loft is definitely cozy, but all of the basics are provided. Very clean and tidy.
Amazing little spot
Had a wonderful time here! The space was the perfect fit for us and our pups. Location is amazing! Beautiful river view. It was close to the highway but road noise wasn’t much of a factor at all. I highly recommend this spot or their other two bigger cabins on the property.
Thank you for the great review. Glad you liked it. Hope you all can come back again soon.
Great place for a relaxing stay!
Loved the location—go in any direction for adventure! The scene from the slider window is surreal. Their were animals all around. The loft is cozy and spacious. Loved the little details! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Thank you for the great review. We'd love to have you come back anytime.
Everything you could need and or want available in a cozy space with breathtaking scenery. We had an amazing stay!
What a nice review. Thank you. Hope you can come back again soon.
This property is a great base camp for exploring the north Peninsula area of Olympic National Park.
It is located just off Highway 101 ten miles southwest of Lake Crescent providing quick and easy access to Lake Crescent Lodge, Storm King Ranger Station, Marymere Falls, Eagle Peak Ranger Station and Sol Duc Falls with hiking trails continuing into the Olympics.
Heading east from the cabins, it's less than an hour's drive to the main Park visitor center in Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge, and the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.
West from the cabins 8 miles is the junction of Hwy 113 which will take you to the Lake Ozette Ranger Station and the loop trail to the ocean at Ozette, the Makah Museum and Cape Flattery on the Makah Reservation. Shi Shi Beach on the Makah reservation is one of the most beautiful and remote beaches on the west coast.
Continuing from the cabins on 101 past the 113 junction for 9 miles will take you to Highway 110, (La Push road) providing access to 1st beach at La Push, the trailheads for Beach 2 and 3 and Rialto Beach across the Quillayute River.
Just past the 110 junction you will enter the town of Forks which provides shopping, restaurants, and Twilight attractions. Continuing south from Forks for 12 miles will take you to the access road for Hoh Rain Forest visitor center with miles of hiking rails. Another 25 miles south on 101 you will find Kalaloch Lodge perched on the bluff above miles of beautiful sandy beaches. There are many access points to this stretch of beach.
Many guests have told us how nice it is to come back to our cabins after a day of hiking and exploring to sit by the river, BBQ on the decks or soak in the hot tubs.
