We are retirees from the state of Virginia. George worked 20+ years as an Entomologist with the Virginia Dept. of Agriculture. I worked 30+ years as a Registered Nurse. Both of us retired early so we could move to Montana and enjoy its beauty and activities as much as possible. We also wanted to live in a log home. We contracted with a local Amish community to build the beautiful, custom home we now use as a vacation rental. We enjoyed living in that log home so much we are presently building and living in another one.
George & Carolyn Anderson, 4737 Old Hwy. 2 N, Troy, MT 59935 purchased this cabin in 1998
Both of us have always enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, and all other activities associated with the outdoors. We visited Montana numerous times on vacation, deciding early on this was where we wanted to live when we retired. This area is an outdoor enthusiast dream and we have never looked back or regretted our decision to move here. It is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful, recreational, and people friendly spots in the country. If you are lucky enough to be able to visit us here, we think you will agree.
A beautiful, custom made log home on 8+ acres of property with a blue ribbon trout stream situated within the scenic Rocky Mountains. Enjoy the view of the meadow from the upper deck or the lower patio. A clean, quiet and peaceful place to
relax and enjoy with your family and friends, is our priorty.
My wife and I, with our two daughters, stayed for 2 days in this beautiful and clean cabin. The hosts were very nice and the surrounding area is beautiful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
This beautifully constructed, and impeccably kept home is a slice of heaven. We were looking for a relaxing get away, and were not disappointed! Beautiful scenery, wildlife, peace and quiet. So much to see and explore close by. Can't wait to book a return visit with our grandkids. Thanks George & Carolyn for everything!
The house is a beautiful Amish constructed log home which is immaculately maintained. The property is beautiful with the house overlooking a lovely tree backed field full of deer and wild turkeys. Inside and out of this house everything is well kept and in order. The house inside is well equipped and decorated. Except for an occasional car going by on the road it is really quiet here. There is no Wifi but on the back balcony deck you can get 3G and one cell bar if you sit in the right chair. The front deck and back deck are amazing - especially the back deck overlooking the field, woods and nearby mountain. I spent most of my time back there watching the deer and turkeys. The hike to Lake Creek on the property takes about 5-10 minutes on the mowed grass trail (thank you). The Creek/River is beautiful and apparently the fishing is good but I didn't bring my pole....?????? The location of this property is only 2-3 miles from the town of Troy which is very convenient. There is a beautiful upstairs loft bedroom with a double or queen bed - not sure - no upstairs bathroom and one small bedroom on the main level with a twin bed and then downstairs another queen bedroom which does have it's own bathroom. This time we stayed in the loft but the 3 am bathroom trip down the stairs is convincing me next time to stay in the basement bedroom with it's own bath. We love this place and will definitely stay again. I hesitated writing this review because I don't really want to increase the competition for rental dates. Lovely lovely house and property.
WE STAYED THREE NIGHTS IN SEPTEMBER AND WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE CABIN. IT IS VERY WELL EQUIPPED AND IDEALLY LOCATED FOR OUR HIKING AND SIGHTSEEING NEEDS. EATING OFF OF REAL CHINA, ENJOYING THE GAS LOG, AND BEING ABLE TO DO LAUNDRY AND LEAVE WITH CLEAN CLOTHES WERE ALL A PLUS. THE GARAGE KEPT THE CAR FROM BEING FROST COVERED. DEER WERE IN THE FIELD EVERY NIGHT AND THE WALK TO THE CREEK WAS A JOY. WE RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL AGES, COUPLES AND FAMILIES AND KNOW THAT YOU WILL ENJOY BEING HERE AS MUCH AS WE DID. IT IS SO CLEAN AND UPDATED YOU WILL THINK YOU ARE AT HOME. SCOTT AND LESLIE FROM KENTUCKY
Four of us stayed for a great weekend at this fabulous cabin! The property is beautiful, and a black bear ambled through the meadow below the house right on que as we moved in! The cabin is simply amazing! We made two nights of gourmet splurges in the well equipped kitchen! The Creek is a short walk from the house, and is cool and refreshing. If you seek privacy and comfort, this is your oasis! Keep in mind the bedrooms require negotiating stairs.
We stayed two nights at the Cabin. We were amazed from the moment we walked in as to how clean and well-kept the place is. It was so nice to wake up in the morning and sit on the deck and enjoy our coffee. The steam close by was great to cool off on a hot day. We wish we could wake up the view every day. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin has all the amenities you need and the owners were very accommodating to ensure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a place to relax and get away from it all!
We recently returned from our 3 night stay at the cabin. This cabin is by far the cleanest and well kept place we have ever rented. It far exceeded our expectations. It was such a beautiful and quiet setting and when we sat on the deck at night we would see the wildlife. The owners are also very easy to work with and accommodating. They made it very easy for us to meet them and get the keys as well as providing us with good directions etc. We will definitely be returning if we get the chance.
