Tucked away in a quiet spot within the ancient thatched village of Cockington surrounded by the old private manorial estate and now a 450 acre Country Park. Rural but not isolated as there’s a village pub, tea gardens/cafes and the Manor House with crafts centre. Just a half mile country lane or public footpath takes you to the sea at Livermead and the splendour of the English Riviera containing bustling Torquay, family friendly Paignton and picturesque fishing village, Brixham.

There is so much to enjoy on The English Riviera, one of the most popular UK holiday destinations. Check out for information and What’s on. Or call us on 01803 606938. We’ve run a successful B&B for 15 years and have a wealth of knowledge of the local area and things that our previous guests have really enjoyed.

Cockington Village is a great base to explore the many delights that South Devon offers from its rugged coast with hidden coves and sandy beaches, the wilds of Dartmoor, the unspoilt beauty of the South Hams or the hustle and bustle of the entertainment on offer within the English Riviera. Come rain or shine there will always be something to do!

For eating out you will be spoiled for choice from the Drum Inn and daytime cafes in the village centre to award winning traditional fish and chip restaurants through to the many restaurants found around the harbour in Torquay including local seafood bistros and Michelin Star restaurants there will always be something here to get you excited. Check out our web site on for our recommendations. In high season its best to book in advance.

About Leon & Paula Butler

Paula and Leon Butler bought the Listed Lanscombe House Hotel as a lifestyle change back in 2002 after years of searching. We have two daughters Jess and Katie now 15 and 13. We had a tearoom here originally but we closed this in favour of developing a 5 star B&B business. Last year we decided to reduce our B&B rooms but offer a completely refurbished, top quality holiday cottage so that families, friends and the dog can enjoy what is probably the most beautiful location in Torbay.

Owning the attached Lanscombe House means we are on-hand to offer advice on enjoying your holiday or sort out any problems that may occur.

Why Leon & Paula Butler chose Torquay

Location Location Location and it's AA 5 star. We are in the famous thatched village of Cockington that nestles within Cockington Country Park - 450 acres of a former private estate but just a short walk to the sea and Torquay beyond. There's a village pub/restaurant, three cafes, a visitor centre and the crafts workshops at the Manor House and miles of country walks.

What makes this cottage unique

Right in the middle of the English Riviera but peaceful Cockington Village is a world apart from the hustle and bustle of the seafront resorts of Torquay and Paignton.

The cottage is so peaceful. Despite being close to the sea you can hear birdsong (not seagulls screeching) and owls hooting at night. You may occasionally see a badger, foxes are a common sight and we've even had deer in the garden. The cottage is warm and inviting and well appointed. More of a home than a holiday let.

LUXURY, 5* cottage in stunning Cockington village for 4 + small dog
average rating of 5.0 based on 1 reviews

A wonderful cottage in the idyllic chocolate box village of Cockington!

  • 5 of 5

The title of this review says it all really! Mallock cottage is a wonderful cottage, which is decorated to a very high standard and with all the amenities of a luxury 5* cottage. Add that to its incredibly peaceful and private setting, yet with the benefit of being very well connected to the facilities of the local area and you have a really fantastic place to visit for a holiday.

Due to the convenient location of Mallock cottage, we were able to visit several places including Torquey, Brixham, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. We also enjoyed walking through the water meadows with our dog to the local Livermead beach where he could enjoy a swim in the sea of the English Riviera!

Thank you Paula and Leon and we hope to return to Mallock cottage again.
