Perfect for girls get-away!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect spot for a girls getaway. We were four girlfriends, 3 first-timers to Charleston. Able to walk everywhere. Great communication with host(s), quick response to any questions. Place was charming, clean, and well-appointed. Robes and champagne were nice touches. Beds were comfortable, great shower! Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect in every way.

I don't think we could have found a more perfect place for our Charleston stay. The location is right in the middle of everything. The property was spotless, and the owners were very nice.

Location, location, location PLUS great owners!

  • 5 of 5

This property is in a wonderful location for exploring Charleston by foot. It is also in a relatively quiet area. Other than the one day that we drove out of the city to visit Drayton Hall (which we really enjoyed exploring), our car stayed put in the off-street parking provided on the property. We walked everywhere else that we went. Our visit was over Christmas and the owners very thoughtfully put some Christmas decor in the Kitchen House, including a small table-top Christmas tree. The owners also thoughtfully provided some packaged snacks in addition to leaving Champagne, orange juice and creamer in the refrigerator. The Champagne and orange juice made wonderful Christmas Day mimosas! We stayed there for about a week with our teen-aged daughter and having two bedrooms meant there was plenty of space for us to spread out for time on our own or hang together downstairs watching TV. The owners also provided a wonderful packet of information and recommendations for restaurants, walking tours, and other ways to enjoy Charleston which we used often and found to be very helpful. The bedrooms are large and the beds are extremely comfortable. The bed linens and towels are very high quality. The heating system has two zones: one for downstairs and one for upstairs, so it was easy to stay comfortable during the winter nights. We didn't cook much while there, but noted that the kitchen seems to be very well supplied with just about anything you might need to cook full meals. The dish towels provided were even brand new and still had their tags on them. The courtyard/driveway area is pretty and is probably a wonderful place to hang out during warmer weather. Ruthie was our main contact and she was very responsive with questions we had before making the booking and while we were there. We had an opportunity to meet other members of Ruthie's family that live in the main house and they were also very nice. We would definitely recommend the Kitchen House and would love an opportunity to stay there again during future visits to Charleston.
