Tampa's Coolest Key West Style Pool Home & Cabana

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,250 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Updated 3/3, Pool & Cabana w TV, Fridge & Bar, perfect location & PET FRIENDLY

Welcome 2 Wallace! This is the coolest home in South Tampa! All updated with stylish tropical decor inside and a Key West explosion out back! Cabana is completely outfitted for fun - TV, fridge, & WiFi internet. Centrally located in a great neighborhood with easy access to everywhere!

You will feel at home and relaxed the moment you walk in the house! It's cozy and welcoming, and very easy to live in - but once you walk out the french doors to the backyard, you'll want to spend ALL YOUR TIME out there, lounging on the cabana deck or sunning on the chaises... you'll never want to leave to do any of the touristy stuff you had planned!! However, IF you do decide to leave your own personal paradise, it's location is perfect for day trips - South Tampa is the most desirable area to live because everything you need is near by and there's easy access to everywhere else!

We started renovations on the house in 2008 and are constantly updating and redecorating here and there. We decided to turn it into a vacation rental after the last long term renter because we enjoy spending time there so much, our out of town family and friends are always begging to use it and I really want everyone all over the world to experience hanging out by the cabana! It's got everything you'll need, there's lots of cool decor thru out and it's sort of my Pinterest house, so you'll see some fun, funky projects {Pallet Couch, anyone?}.

It's 1250 sq feet is just right for romantic getaway, a family, two couples, with or without kids or just a girls or guys trip. Master has flat screen, queen bed, and en-suite bathroom with shower, glass tiles, and martini glass shaped vessel sink. Second bedroom has a queen and flat screen, as well as two closets and a wine crate sliding barn door. The third bedroom also has a queen and an open closet system. There's an office with a huge desk and a wireless printer, a dining room with a cafe table that seats 4, kitchen bar that seats three, dual temp wine cooler and laundry with full size washer & dryer.

This home is truly my happy place and I'm so excited to share it with you and your family or friends!

Ballast Point is your not-so-typical, typical Florida neighborhood with 1 million dollar homes and 100K dollar homes, some old, some new, rusted chain link fences to wrought iron gates - the area is booming! Neighbors socializing, kids on bikes, young couples, professionals, military families, {THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!}, retirees and lots of people walking dogs! You'll find every kind.

There's TONS of great places to eat & shop a VERY short drive away. Walk to Ballast Point Pier, Park & Playground, or run down along the water on Bayshore Blvd- it's a perfect location! You can easily hop on to any of the major highways and be anywhere you want to be in minutes!

We are just 5 minutes from MacDill Air Force Base and get an amazing air show over head every few days during the week... Fighters in formation, big cargo and radar planes, even Air Force One - if you're a plane aficionado you'll be in heaven! It can be loud but it's very cool! Wave hello and sometimes they'll dip their wings in response.

It's a very dog friendly area, everyone has at least one, usually two dogs and they can be barky... When they all get going it's like a scene outta 101 Dalmatians! As animal lovers, it's music to our ears but just be warned.

The neighbors are super friendly - you'll feel like a part of the neighborhood and they're always happy to help in any way!

Leave your blow dryer at home and there's plenty of pool towels for everyone! Beach chairs & cooler for beach trips, and usually beer in the cabana fridge - a gift from the parting guests to the next ones!

The third full bathroom is located in the cabana and has shower with rain head. The pool has been newly resurfaced and is not heated - but that's never stopped a guest from jumping in yet!

There's undercover parking for two cars so you stay dry in the rain and your car stays cool in the sun. There's tons of closet space, a twin bed couch in the screened in porch for naps and cable on all four flat screen tvs, Netflix, Apple TV, as well as FREE high speed WiFi.

So that we can enjoy the house ourselves, and share it with family & friends, AND have time to turn over the house between rentals, we usually limit rental periods to 28 DAYS. We will consider stays of less than 7 nights {5 night minimum} or more than 28 days, but we'll have to talk first. Month-long stays come with a free mid-stay cleaning! Check in is anytime after 4 pm and check out is by 10 am. We're flexible on most things, so just ask before you book flights or schedule ETAs! However, check-in before 1 or check out after 10, if scheduling permits, will have to coordinated before hand and charged an extra $50, cash only.

{Now for the unfun part: the no-nos & non-negotiables...} ABSOLUTELY NO guests under the age of 25 without parental supervision. There's also a limit number of guests allowed over to enjoy pool and cabana - but we can talk about that. There's no crashing on the couch or air mattresses allowed. If three beds isn't enough for all to share and sleep, then the house is definitely to small for your group. Also, we try to be kind to each other & the environment & ask that guests do as well. Turn out the lights, turn off the TV & turn up the AC when you leave the house. Recycle as much as possible. Please be considerate to us, to our home & to our earth.

While we have great neighbors who keep an eye out for each other, the front of the house is equipped with two exterior cameras and are only occasionally monitored when the house empty. They are not connected to a security system & there are none inside or in the backyard {because that'd be weird & we have been known to skinny dip!}.

Dogs are always welcome, depending on their behavior (no biting, chewing or digging!!) and if they are housebroken AND you pick up their presents in the back yard {see Poop Clause in the agreement!}. There is a $150 pet fee PER PET - belly rubs are free!

As it turns out, a lot of guests enjoy working out while on vacation {I am NOT one of those people} and end up training at my next door neighbor's boxing gym, Punchology - He's a personal trainer and boxing coach. If you're interested, just let me know and I'll have him introduce himself {if he hasn't already!}.

Check out our Welcome 2 Wallace Facebook page... see pictures, updates and what's happening now! You can meet the neighbors, find out about our local favorite places and get a real taste of the neighborhood.

About KrisTina Muia

I was raised in Italy, have lived in Belgium, Germany, Philly, Jersey and New York City and ultimately chose Tampa to settle down over 15 years ago. I've been lucky enough to travel throughout the world: France, Spain, England, Denmark, Canada and Greece, just to name a few. Have always loved meeting new people from all over, no one is a stranger for long.

I'm a foodie and love entertaining. Theme parties are a norm. Am a little bit handy and a whole lot crafty so you'll often find me with a wine glass in one hand and a drill in the other... and sawdust in my hair and dirt on my face.

I'm passionate about my home, my neighborhood and my town and am honored to be part of making your stay wonderful! You are truly my guests.

KrisTina Muia purchased this house in 2005

Why KrisTina Muia chose Tampa

I've lived all over the world and I picked Tampa Bay... it's really got it all for me, including some of the nicest people and greatest neighbors! There's so much to do - from the touristy tourist stuff to the local secret gems, from every sporting event imaginable, to a HUGE variety of world class dining, to America's Best Beaches, to amazing museums, fantastic day trips, art festivals, music festivals, food festivals... i could go on and on and on and on and on.

This home was my first love and still is! I bought it with a vision of entertaining and fun, learned to tile here, had a huge hand in most of the renovations and am always doing something to make it better. While we've moved to a bigger home near by to accommodate a larger family of dogs, we still spend lots of time here. The neighbors are a wonderfully eclectic mix and the best of friends!

Guestbook comments from the owner

{This review was posted on "the other vacation site" and I added it here so you'd have more guest point of view.} The home and the hostess, KrisTina, were great. She met us at the house with a bottle of wine and gave suggestions for dinner. This is our 8th vacation rental in the past year and, by far, was the one we felt most at home in. Everything was so fresh and clean it was the first time I didn't feel the need to wash all the dishes & linens or clean the cabinets & showers before using them. Everything you need is there from cookware, cutlery, linens, soap, tissues, toiletries, pool towels & washer/dryer. There is a huge gas & charcoal grill. The backyard, pool, & cabana are great, especially if you have a large group. There's even a TV to watch outside. All the TV's had cable and the wireless internet was very fast. Everything looks just like the pictures. It's a very dog friendly home with towels, bowls, and even a doggy door to the fenced in yard. There's plenty of hanging and drawer space to put your clothes away. It's the first home we stayed in that had "real" hangers (not the plastic or wire ones from the drycleaner) and an ironing board. While the location is very convenient to pretty much anything you'd want to do, there isn't really anything within walking distance. There is a great Chinese place that delivers and a good Thai place close by. There is also a Publix (grocery), Target, & Starbucks just a couple minutes away. We were very happy with our month long stay.

What Pete loved about your listing:

We really felt at home during our stay. We really appreciated the attention to detail in regards to making sure the guests have everything they need. Plenty of linens, dishes, cutlery and providing bath & kitchen soap, paper towels, toilet paper, & tissues. Everything felt fresh and clean. The cabana & pool were great.

What Pete thought you could improve about the experience:

Not that I can think of.

A comfortable and clean home with a very responsible owner!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great experience. We had 6 people (2 kids) and 2810 Wallace was a gem of a house. We had busy days with Blue Jays & Yankees baseball games, Busch Gardens, Adventure Island and the Florida Aquarium. 2810 Wallace provided a clean and comfortable home to come back to and enabled us to prepare nice dinners on the BBQ or in the kitchen. The backyard is beautiful and definitely a place to hang out on a lazy 80 degree afternoon. KrisTina, the owner, is very responsive via text or phone and puts tremendous care and energy into ensuring your stay is exceptional. We can't wait to come back! Outstanding property that was very reasonably price for Spring Break!

Terrific Thanksgiving Treat

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday at this great home. It was just as described in the listing and was perfect for us. The house was clean, well equipped, nicely decorated, & comfy...just like home. The kitchen was spacious, the bedrooms had plenty of storage, and the study was a bonus as some of us still had to work & needed the privacy it provided. The pool and cabana were nice although we did not get to use them because it was too cool...'looking forward to taking advantage of both next time. We did use the fire pit...s'mores are always a must-have. The location was ideal for us...close to my son's house with lots of shopping & restaurants in between. KrisTina was a wonderful hostess...so nice, easily reachable with prompt response time, and very thoughtful. She even welcomed us with a nice bottle of wine! My family & I would recommend this property to family & friends. Wallace House worked well for us so our suggestion of a sofa bed and slow cooker are a couple of items that we have found useful in other rental homes. Thank you for sharing this lovely home.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review & suggestions, Norma! It was truly an honor to host your family for the holiday & I'm looking forward to your return. Since we strictly limit the number of overnight guests to 6, we were conscious about not adding a sofa bed when we set up the home. BUT we are adding a brand new plush queen today to replace the one double in the front room so it'll be more roomy for adults. And there's definitely going to be a slow cooker in the kitchen by weeks end! Great idea! Hopefully we'll see you soon!

Very hip property and amazing host

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for an opportunity to stay in South Tampa, this is a great choice. It also made for a wonderful longer term stay option for me. The host goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. The property is very dog friendly, as well.

The Perfect Escape Near It All

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough nice things about KrisTina and her darling home. The house is perfectly located near downtown Tampa with tons of access to anything you could need (Publix, Target, Restaurants, etc). We chose the location as we were touring several of the local craft breweries for my fiance's birthday (an avid craft beer fanatic) and we couldn't have picked a better spot. We were able to quickly get into town in less than 20 minutes with very little traffic and St. Petersburg is just a short trip across the Gandy bridge for some additional sightseeing.

Our favorite part was being able to have our pups with us as we always travel with our dogs. We met lots of the neighbors on our morning walks and could always find a dog-friendly restaurant nearby. The backyard/pool area was ideal for relaxing with the dogs after a day full of sightseeing and the cabana offered them ample shade from the Florida sun. In addition, the house is CLEAN! When you travel with dogs their keen sense of smell will find any morsel or crumb left behind; but not at this house (thank you)!

KrisTina is amazing and an absolutely delightlful hostess. She is very responsive to questions and offers excellent suggestions for things to do or places to eat while there. She even went above and beyond to get our celebration started off by welcoming us with balloons for my fiance's birthday and fun toys for the pups to feel right at home!

We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this property if your visiting the Tampa area! Thank you for the excellent hospitality KrisTina!

Hospitality Honor Roll

  • 5 of 5

All of earliest emails and texts messages were so timely, upbeat and accommodating that I felt like I had a friend at Ballast Point.

The accommodations were trendy, comfortable and most important...immaculate! The decor was fun and we had everything we needed for our stay.

The weather was hot and the pool with all of it's shaded areas kept us outdoors a good part of the time. We had some Florida friends and family, who are residents, visit us one evening and there was ample space to eat and enjoy the ambiance of the cabana.

It is close enough to Disneyworld that we drove and did an overnight and two days at the park and experienced the magic of our grandchildren's' first visit. KrisTina also pointed us to excellent 4:30 AM transportation for two of us to depart to the Tampa Airport.

This Ballast Point home definitely met the needs of the three generations of our family!

My husband and I along with our dog Bella stayed the month of March. We had a wonderful time. The house was exactly like the pictures that were shown. The pool and cabana were great, very clean and well kept. The kitchen is so cute and very well stocked with cooking supplies. The fenced in yard with doggy door were perfect for our dog. She loved hanging around the pool as were cooked on the new gas/charcoal grill. Stores and restaurants were just minutes away. KrisTina was a wonderful hostess, extremely helpful to answer any questions that we had. Thank you KrisTina. We would rent again in a heart beat.

We highly recommend this property.
