It has two bedrooms both with en-suits.The master bedroom has a large double bed, the second bedroom - 2 single beds. A large open plan living-dining room with a sofa which sleeps 1 person, a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen. Accommodation is over two floors with living room on the ground floor and bedrooms on the first floor.

The Cottage has a use of a large beautiful rear garden which has table tennis table, swings, a slide, a climbing frame and a sandpit for children.

This penthouse apartment is beautifully designed, contemporary, and unusually spacious (150 sq meters). It has two very large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a very large living room, a fully equipped modern kitchen and a separate dining room. The sleeping arrangements are: two king size beds (one in each bedroom), and a sofa-bed in the living room which sleeps two persons. We can also provide an extra bed if necessary for a sixth person.

Very well located for tourists arriving from all airports, Eurotunnel - Ashfrod (30 miles), and Kings Cross/St Pancras. Eltham is an ancient royal suburb of London and the apartment if situated in a private Victorian Villa bordering the ancient Eltham Palace. The palace was the childhood home of Henry the VIII and birthplace of Elisabeth I (14th century Tudor Hall remains). It now includes a magnificent art deco house, considered the finest in England, set within the moated grounds. The palace and its beautiful gardens are open to visitors. Nearby, ancient Greenwich welcomes visitors to the Cutty Sark, Royal Observatory, Maritime Naval Museum, magnificent Royal Park, Zero Meridian, famous market. Central London and West End are just 25 minutes by train with a regular service (every 15 min) from 2 local train stations just 10 minutes walk, or a boat from Greenwich to Westminster. Good location close to Central London

The location is easy to find if you will travel by car or train. It is well equipped and a good base for trips to Central London.

The Landlord is very polite and will help you immediately if there is a problem.

Disappointed

We were do looking forward to the Shangri la of Alan's back yard oasis. One of the main reasons to book here, so far out from London. To be able to have the french doors open in the morning and eve , for kids to play, and us to sit out at the little table on the cottage private deck.

When we arrived after traveling over night, and delayed flights, Alan immediately told us there was construction going on. He is building a pool right beside and under the cottage! He offered us to move to one of their downtown area apartments, which of course we did not want to do after 24 hours of travelling. He did insist on giving us 100 GBP and waving the cleaning fees .

The next morning a crew of brick layers and cement truck arrived, and it was like this the entire time we stayed. We were unable to use the yard , and out little deck became the workers place to put their music that they played and drinks. We had to draw the drapes as the workers could look right in on us. It was so loud. We were living in the middle of a construction site!

We lost water one day completely. We were told this happens in London, but I believe it was from the workers using his water supply to hose out the cement truck right beside our cottage. Their other renters were women who came home late drunk, and had men come in to the secured gates at 3 in the morning. waking us 2 nights in a row. The pizza delivery man banging on our door scaring us, banging on the wrong door.

The cottage needs a good clean. The rugs and sofa are very dirty and stained. We could not access back up toilet paper. They should at least supply a box of kleenex, paper towel, or a extra dish cloth. Compared to our 2nd VRBO, the cottage comes across as cheap an after thought. They are much more concerned with renovating their mansion than keeping clean and stocking the cottage. Alan had many opportunities to tell us of the construction when we were in multiple email contact. He should have told ,and given us a option BEFORE we travelled all that way to his home, that is in neglect and is ground zero of a construction zone. Very unprofessional and very unkind. Their pool will partially be under the cottage deck with a see through flooring to see their family swimming under your deck! Would not recommend this place nor stay there again. Shame on you for not being honest and up front.

Owner's Response: Firstly, we would like to extend our sincere apologies to our guests for the inconvenience. However, we need to mentione that this was the culmination of a most unfortunate series of largely unforeseen events. Firstly, the only intrusive building operation for the Cottage (the main works are to the rear or under the house, which are coming to an end now) was the delivery and pumping of concrete which had to be delivered down the side of the house. It was scheduled for two days before the arrival but delivery unfortunately was delayed. The guests were told this on the evening of their arrival and offered alternative accommodation or first day full refund( out of 4 days stay). They insisted they would be out all day, were unconcerned and chose the full first day refund. Secondly, the water problem has affected whole street due to mains repair and lasted only 3 hours ( 8 am till 11 am) and was absolutely nothing to do with building works. The building works, as stated, were at the rear of our house and do not much affect the Cottage. All works stop at 4pm, and we asked the builder who was listening to music to switch it off, but the reviewer’s husband said he was actually enjoying the music! The other renters for the Pethouse across the yard to the Cottage did order a late night pizza which was mistakenly delivered to the Cottage, for which they apologised. We do recognise that these unfortunate, unforeseen events effected the guests’ 4 nights stay. I had a long friendly conversation with the lady’s husband who was very amiable, straightforward and well balanced and he made very light of any problems encountered. I insisted we make they stay less than half price with a further refund to compensate any shortcomings, but he flatly refused to take any further refund. It was all I could do to make him at least accept a bottle of Champagne. Unfortunately, his wife who was less straightforward and certainly less honest face to face and did not voice any of the problems ( including the ones that could be rectified there and then) until after departure. We have done all we could including offering refund in these exceptional circumstances. There is no mention of good will on our side in the review which we feel is unfair. As you can clearly see from all the previous reviews, we always do our best for the guests and the Cottage an exceptional accommodation with the use of a beautiful garden which we are making more private and comfortable by improving rear garden.

Very nice place! Good beds, good kitchen and a nice garden. Very kind owner! From Eltham it´s easy to go by train to London. In Eltham very beautiful Eltham Palace to visit.

We stayed with family of 6 with 4 children, it is good place with nearby market.

Place is good with back yard play ground and warm leaving/sleeping rooms with market nearby. Quite place for family in high end area of Eltham. Only we found a bit slow net connection, rest very good.

Great Location, Great Hosts

The cottage was amazing location, the hosts were well organized and very gracious people. Perfect location to go into London. We were also able to rent a car from a local place (Lane's Driving School ~15 Euro cab ride there from cottage). We then used the cottage as a launching point to see other castles and sights in the area. The hosts made an amazing recommendation related to stopping at Canterbury on the way to Dover and Hever Castle on the way to Brighton Pier which made for really amazing day trips.

Also the cottage was close to a very nice area with grocery stores and restaurants and the local Indian Restaurant (another recommendation) was great delivery after a really long day.

The backyard was amazing to let kids play while we cooked dinner and just enjoy the life after trekking through England.

This cottage really helped make our trip an amazing success. The one item I would make sure is that you do your laundry early as they have a combined washer/dryer so it does take longer for a load of laundry. It worked fine I just had never used one before.

Eltham Coach House

Our family of four had the pleasure of staying in the Coach House for a week this past March. In preparing for our stay and while we were there, our emails and questions were dealt with promptly and courteously. The Coach House itself was very clean, nicely decorated and appointed, and featured modern high end fixtures and appliances. We really appreciated the warmth of the radiant floor heating after sightseeing during what was a particularly cold week in March! It quickly became our home away from home as the shops of Eltham High Street were literally a five minute walk away. Our daily commute to London consisted of a short walk to Eltham Station and about a 20 minute train ride into either Victoria or London Bridge Stations to connect to the Tube. We had a fantastic time staying in the Coach House and would recommend this safe location to anyone wanting to have access to London as well as proximity to the beauty of Greenwich and the surrounding area.
