About Kathy Willey-Coogan

We LOVE St. Pete!!!! It's such a wonderful city, rich with culture, music, art and nature all that and beautiful weather too! You can't ask for more than St. Pete has to offer. We have lived in the area for over 20 years and have traveled to many great destinations however there's no place on earth we have enjoyed more than St. Petersburg Florida. We are truely blessed to live and work in this amazing area. Being from northern states ourselves originally (Michigan & New Jersey) we know how long and cold winter can be up north. This little bungalow is where we want to retire someday. Unfortunately, it's too soon for us to be able to kick our feet up. That's why we want to share our little corner of heaven, we figure someone may as well enjoy it until we are able to.

Why Kathy Willey-Coogan chose St Petersburg

When my husband and daughter and I walked in the door we instantly fell in love with this house. The original wood floors from 1910 and French doors leading out to a covered front porch that sits on one of St Pete's quaint brick streets. It was just perfect! We very much wanted a place close enough to downtown to ride our bikes but also close enough to walk to Cresent Lake, Starbucks, Panera, Carrabas, Outback, and we have so much fun at Practically Picasso...we never imagined we could have it all and a huge back yard as well! This place was more than we were dreaming of so we couldn't pass it up, even though we can't live there yet- it's already home. We are happy to be able to share. :)

What makes this house unique

The large backyard in a location this close to town is a very unique find. We love being able to invite everyone to park in the driveway and walk or bike to town during events or concerts. Parking downtown is especially difficult to find and can get expensive. We have this lovely oasis where friends and family can park, go downtown for events and then relax in the backyard and have a cookout. There is ALWAYS something fun going on downtown the tough part is choosing what to attend.

I can't thank Kathy enough for letting us stay in their 2 bedroom bungalow for a long weekend with our dog Bo. Everything was clean and new. Just beautiful! The backyard and deck is perfect for sitting out and watching your dog explore the Florida foliage. And some squirrels got some exercise as well!

This is a great property, really well equipped and in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. Kathy is the perfect host, replies quickly and couldn't be more helpful. I would happily stay here again and recommend to others.

Terrific home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Kathy's amazing home for three nights mid-May around my nephew's St. Pete wedding festivities. It was the perfect set up for us: one couple, my elderly mother and my nephew's dog. Beautiful decor, fantastic fenced in backyard and very convenient to downtown! Kathy was quick to respond to any questions we had; check in/check out painless. Hope to be back sometime soon!

Second Stay

  • 5 of 5

We returned to Kathy's uptown bungalow for 10 days in April. It was even more comfortable than our first stay simply because we felt like we were returning home. This home is quiet, clean, roomy and comfortable. I could stay for weeks, it's that good. Kathy is accommodating and gracious, always answered our emails within minutes. We enjoy riding bikes along the waterfront parks and old Northeast. A couple of favorite restaurants not often mentioned are El Cap for burgers, Chattaways, especially for evening outdoor atmosphere (cash only), and Pias in Gulfport. Thanks, Kathy, for sharing your home with us again.

Ideal location and very comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

Four friends and I were in St. Petersburg from March 12 to April 2. I definitely have to mention the excellent customer service Kathy provided since day 1 of my research for a home away from home. We had a few concerns about the mattresses and the sleeping arrangement, as we had quite a few problems in some of the houses we rented before. Kathy clearly explained the situation and the whole group could comfortably settle in, even on a blow--out mattress.

The house is ideally situated, close to everything : shops, restaurants, services, very nice parks, a very small beach in the North Shore Park and about 25-30 minutes from the Fort De Soto Park Beach ... our favorite ! The kitchen is well equipped, including a BBQ on the back porch, and we did prepare most of our meals. However, when we went out, our favorite restaurants were 400 Beach (seafood and beef), Bella Brava (italian), both on Ocean Drive, and V (vietnamese) on Central Avenue.

When we walked in the house, the first thing we noticed was how clean it was, clean and comfortable. Very comfortable, on a nice quiet street. And Kathy came a few minutes later to greet us ! A first for us ... very appreciated !

When we had questions, Kathy would reply to our e-mails within the hour.

Not only would we recommend this property to friends and/or families, but we would definitely go back, should we return to St. Petersburg.

Thank you for everything, Kanty.
