We feel priviledged to live in this part of the world and never grow tired of the joys that it brings. We love to see the storks reeling high in the thermals or spotting a chameleon amongst the greenery. The natural beauty of this area, with its beaches and sparkling seas, is such a treasure. Tavira is, for us, a perfect place to live. it has everything that we need yet is small enough to not feel lost. Its people are warm and friendly and many of the visitors in the summer are family members, connecting by spending quality time together.

Tavira is a treasure, and like any true gem, the more we get to know it, the more we love it. We chose TaviraPad for its location and its quality of accommodation. It combines homely comfort, a nice place to just relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. But also it's very easy to walk into the town centre and enjoy all of the many pleasures that there are on offer there. Good restaurants, nice shops, summer entertainment, street cafes and bars or just walking in the gardens with the pleasantly cooling influence of the river that flows through this charming town. Access to the beaches is easy via the ferryboat from the town or by a short drive. The area is calm and quiet, it has easy access and there is plenty of parking. So, for a quality holiday experience TaviraPad offers all the best possible options, your biggest decision of the day will be which lounger to choose.

Fantastic apartment !!!!

My wife and I have for many years rented apartments and Villas in a number of places in Europe, rarely have we had an apartment such as this.

On arrival we were met by Merry and Simon the owners a lovely friendly couple made us feel most welcome. On entering the apartment, it is clear as well as being absolutely spotless, that a great deal of time and effort has been made preparing it for our arrival.

You would think Merry and Simon must have looked at the comments/complaints for other apartments and decided to make sure they did not make the same mistakes, as they have catered for every eventuality, down to a pen and note pad for your shopping list. The quality of the furnishings both inside and out as well as the décor is of a very high standard. The items of food and wine that were provided and not requested by us was fantastic and very much appreciated after our journey. They even provide a large Lidl supermarket only 10 mins walk from the door (well maybe not personally)

The apartment is large and roomy with a fantastic terrace you access from both bedrooms and the kitchen. A private roof terrace is also available, although we never used it.

Altogether a first class apartment not to be missed I only hope if you are reading this and decide to book you and any other guest treat the place with the respect both it and Merry and Simon deserve

A 6 minute walk brings guests into the centre of a thriving, family-friendly town with much outdoor live entertainment in summer and a choice of excellent bars, cafes and restaurants. Top class golf courses, Tu-tuk tours, cycle hire, boat trips, ferries to marvellous beaches, kite surfing, bird watching, hiking, history, architecture, beautiful scenery, sunsets or just enjoying the balmy evenings promenading and enjoying the chirruping of crickets.

Lovely apartment with a great outdoor space

We had a great week at this lovely apartment. It was bright and spacious with everything very clean and well cared for. It was well equipped with everything you could need (even a shopping trolley for trips to the local Aldi supermarket only five minutes walk away). The really exceptional feature was the huge terrace complete with sun loungers, large dining table and informal seating area which can be accessed from both bedrooms. We spent many happy hours there and was a super place to enjoy leisurely meals or that essential G & T as the sun went down.

Merry, our host, was very welcoming and provided a much appreciated pack of goodies to see us through until we could shop. She also gave us lots of information about the local area and suggestions for things to do. The location of the apartment was good and everything was in easy walking distance so no need for a car.

The weather wasn't quite as good as we had hoped for but we still managed to get out and about. Tavira is a very interesting and attractive town with lots to explore and plenty of great places to eat. We particularly liked O Castelo at the top of the town for the great food and live music, Artefact for its delicious fresh food and charming hosts and Pausa for imaginative and unusual tapas. In Cabanas, 28 Bistro Bar had fantastic cocktails and tapas to die for.

We would certainly reccommend Tavira Pad in the lovely town on Tavira as an excellent base for a memorable holiday.

Perfect pad

Stayed here for one week, service from Simon and Merry was great. Nice things in the kitchen that helped eg milk, butter, etc. The place itself was spotless, all rooms modern and nice. The balcony is large and it’s great just to relax on. The apartment is very secure and a 10 minute stroll into town. Booked again for next year thanks again!

Comfortable and convenient apartment

We have just returned from a three week stay in beautiful Tavira and found the apartment to be extremely comfortable and clean. It is well situated for easy access to the town and beach ferry and all amenities including the train and bus stations. The apartment is very well equipped including beach towels and we found the bed linens and bath towels are of a high quality.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Tavira Pad but found the wi-fi signal to be weak so were unable to stream or download and because there is no satellite TV only Portugese channels there is little ' home entertainment ' to enjoy.

Also the lack of air conditioning did become an issue on hot nights as it wasn't always possible to keep the sliding doors open due to outside noise.

It was disappointing to hear that you found the lack of air-conditioning was an issue during the hot nights. We did have some unusually high temperatures during your stay and after a day of enjoying the sunshine on the beach it is difficult to cool down even though fans were provided. Glad that those nights didn’t get in the way of your overall enjoyment though. Along with the extensive collection of books and DVDs we have a very comprehensive information booklet which is kept at the apartment and this is the text under the internet section along with the password: .....’We provide complimentary wi-fi at TaviraPad via a hotspot transmitter.............. This service should be enough for you to answer emails and use Google etc but it isn’t enough to have a video connection with Skype, FaceTime etc. or to download movies. Please respect this courtesy in your demands on this service.’ We usually run through this detail verbally with our guests at check-in. It is possible that this may have been overlooked due to your unusual arrival after midnight. Our summer guests usually make the most of Tavira delights such as promenading in the beautiful gardens beside the river or watching such delights as the free firework display, live open air concerts and street theatre, or visiting the stalls, bars and restaurants in the town. We are sorry that you found the home entertainment lacking. Overall you were excellent guests and it was a pleasure to have you stay. Best regards, Merry and Simon

Loved Tavira!

We had an enjoyable stay at Merry & Simon's Tavira Pad for 3 weeks in April. Weather was cooler than normal for this time of year, but we made the best of it. What was a big help was the very detailed book that Merry had put together about the area, things to do, and recommendations of restaurants. When the weather permitted we spent our time outside on the terrific terrace and grilled often. The apartment was in a great location for us to walk into town each morning and stop along the way at some local cafe. Our favorite stop was La Baguette for a croissant and espresso. The internet was spotty, however, once we mentioned it to Merry & Simon they rectified the problem quickly. If you speak Portugese, then watching TV is no problem. They do have a DVD player as an option. All in all it was a great vacation.

Wonderful stay in the pretty town of Tavira.

We can highly recommend this apartment in Tavira. It is clean and comfortable and well stocked. Merry and Simon make sure you are welcomed and comfortable at all times. The supplies in the kitchen on our arrival were much appreciated. We would love to come back and maybe spend longer in Tavira.

Fabulous Apartment in Perfect Location

The apartment is attractive, comfortable and perfectly situated in a quiet residential area. The train station is a five minute walk, and the lovely town centre and bus station are also a short distance away. Merry and Simon are wonderful hosts. They picked us up at the train, provided a booklet with detailed information about Tavira and the Eastern Algarve, and even stocked up the kitchen with basic supplies - including some beer and a bottle of wine! The sun terrace is huge with comfortable lounge chairs, BBQ, and a glass dining table. And there is also a roof deck for sun bathing. I highly recommend this wonderful apartment.

Tavira is a charming, family oriented, Historic town. Straddling the Rio Gilao Tavira sits within the Natural Park of Ria Formosa bordered by salt pans that have been in operation for hundreds of years. A short 10 minute ferry-ride fom the town quay Transports you to Tavira Island which boasts mile upon mile of silver sand beaches and the open sea. There are no cars able to cross to the islands so bathers can just bask is the natural beauty without traffic fumes!

6 km west of Tavira lies Santa Luzia, a small fishing village. Just beyond at Pedras d'El Rei you can access the beach on foot across a little pontoon bridge. There is a miniature train that will for a small fee, carry you to praia do Barril (no-one is too old to enjoy this little ride). There is a small group of buildings here that were once home to tuna fishermen and their families. They have now been converted into attractive small cafes and restaurants, with al fresco dining. The beach, now just along the boardwalk opens out beautifully in both directions as far as the eye can see. A wonderful wide, white sand beach, perfect for swimming and for beach-combing! Cabanas, with its own small fishing fleet is 6 km east of Tavira. The pretty riverfront there has many cafes, bars and restaurants and a delightful board-walk promenade. Here you will see huts offering a choice of river and sea trips. There are many small boats here that ferry passenges across the Ria to the jetty and Cabanas island. This is also a stunning beach with acres of white sand edged by dunes and rolling down to the sparkling, refreshing sea. Walk along in the shallows and you can watch the extreme sport of kitesurfing with the bright kites launching and landing.

The sunsets here can be superb, filling the skies with the most exquisite fiery light.

Change-over day is Saturday so 7-day stays will generally run from 3pm check-in Saturday to 10am the final Saturday. Any other arrangements will be at prior agreement.
Cancellations made 4 weeks prior to arrival date merit a 50% refund. If a cancellation is made less than 4 weeks from the arrival date then unfortunately no refund can be made.

Guests are advised to check that they have adequate insurance cover for holiday, health and possessions.
Though this is a ground floor apartment, there are 9 steps up within the building to the apartment door. There is a lift to the sun terrace on the roof.
Monthly rates for low season enquires should be made directly with the owners.

The apartment sleeps 4 but the price quoted is based two people sharing. There is an extra charge for any extra adult guests. This is a flat fee of £15 per person, per night.

The only exception to this limit would be made for an infant.
If a cot or high chair is needed then please let the owners know in advance.
We ask that the damages deposit of £150 be made at the same time as the balance payment. This will be returned (should there be no damages) by Home Owners Direct.
