Jeremy and I (Stacy), both grew up in the area. Although we went to the same school, we didn't get to know each other until a few years later. We have been married since 2003 and have two boys. We enjoy our life in the country and couldn't think of a better place to raise our family.
This log cabin has a lot of meaning to our family. Jeremy's Dad Tim, took three years to build this cabin (1978-1981). This is the house that Jeremy's parents raised him and his brother in. It wasn't until recently that we found ourselves with an empty log cabin and decided to share it's beauty and serenity with others. We also live out on the property, which is about 140 acres, although our two houses are spread far enough apart that you cannot see one from the other. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call us at (563) 380-8762.
Had a great time staying at the Knotty Pine Guesthouse! Stacy & Jeremy provided everything you could want or need! Very gracious hosts! Will definitely come again & would recommend staying to anyone who asks about the guesthouse.
I can give the perspective of a man spending a weekend at this fantastic property. You get to build fires, are surrounded by timber and farmland, can't see a single neighbor in an direction, some of the best spring creek trout streams in the country, the place was built by hand by a man that lived here once upon a time, and maybe the best thing: honest to goodness quality time with everybody in the family, without distractions. What more can you ask for? We plan on being back, and often.
We loved our 3 night stay here!! This cabin is tucked away in rural NE Iowa and the area is beautiful. Plenty of room for kids to run, play games and take long walks down the gravel road. The cabin has everything you need and more. It is very well maintained and clean. The lay out is so nice and plenty of room for the group of 5 we had. The descriptions you see and read are all accurate!! Jeremy and Stacy are great to work with as well and said to let them know if we needed anything at all, as they are close by. We drove to the Mississippi River and saw many attractions. This drive was about an hour away. Decorah is about 20 mins and there all types of shops, restaurants and breweries. We would highly recommend this to family and friends. The price is very reasonable!!
We loved our time spent at knotty pine...Cabin was clean and in such a quiet, relaxing location. We did some exploring of Decorah and the area. Grandsons enjoyed the fish hatchery and even caught some trout later in the day. We really liked sitting around the fireplace in the evenings. We hope to come back in the future!! Thanks so much!
Our second time here and we still love it! Simple as that! Can't wait to return again!
This was our second visit to the Knotty Pine Guest House and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. The place was clean, inviting, comfortable and nicely decorated. The location is secluded with a lot of privacy and just a few minutes away from Fort Atkinson. It didn't hurt that we planned our stay to coincide with the annual Fort Atkinson Rendezvous Days. Our favorite activities around the home were relaxing by the outdoor fire pit, walking and exploring the property. Booking with Stacy and Jeremy was very easy and they replied promptly to all of our emails and phone calls. We will definitely recommend this vacation home rental to friends and family without hesitation.
The bluff country of Northeast Iowa has a wonderful mix of opportunities available including fishing, kayaking, bike trails, shopping and so much more.
