Jeremy and I (Stacy), both grew up in the area. Although we went to the same school, we didn't get to know each other until a few years later. We have been married since 2003 and have two boys. We enjoy our life in the country and couldn't think of a better place to raise our family.
This log cabin has a lot of meaning to our family. Jeremy's Dad Tim, took three years to build this cabin (1978-1981). This is the house that Jeremy's parents raised him and his brother in. It wasn't until recently that we found ourselves with an empty log cabin and decided to share it's beauty and serenity with others. We also live out on the property, which is about 140 acres, although our two houses are spread far enough apart that you cannot see one from the other. If you have any questions, feel free to email or call us at (563) 380-8762.
Very nice setting in a very clean and comfortable real log cabin with all the amenities.
We enjoyed your beautiful cabin with food, fun, and friends. The weather was not nice but we were thankful to have such a wonderful place to talk and play games. We found it to be clean and well stocked. Thank you.
We (family of 8) stayed at the cabin the end of April. The cabin was perfect! The area is quiet and tucked away off a gravel road. During our stay we found it easy to relax and enjoy the area. Meyer Lake is nearby, a great area to hike
and fish, we were there everyday! We also drove to Decorah for some trout fishing, explored a waterfall and cave. The best times were at the cabin, relaxing, playing games, kite flying, campfires, yoga and exceptional coffee (supplied by the cabin owners!) After our stay we had to have some of the coffee to take home so we visited, Impact Coffee Roasters in Decorah.
We highly recommend you choose this cabin. We all want to come back next year!
We loved our time at cabin! The house was beautiful and comfortable, and the property was so scenic and idyllic. It was very easy to arrive and feel at home.
This is the second time we stayed at the Knotty Pine, and we have already booked another stay later in the year.
There is just something really special about this cabin. We met our mom and dad here for a little get away. My mom loves this part of Iowa because her family was originally from here, and this cabin was an added blessing to our weekend.
The cabin is very cosy, comfortable, very clean, and decorated so nice. One gets a sense that Stacey had fun decorating it, with her guests comfort in mind.
We had a weekend of fire in the fireplace, putting two puzzles together, watching movies, baking fresh oatmeal cookies, and taking some long walks down to the main road.
If you don't feel like staying in and cooking, there is The Fort just two miles away in Fort Atkinson. We all were very pleased with our food, and then also, don't forget to go to Horsfalls Mercantile in Lansing--don't let the outside fool you--it is a blast to look for treasures. Also, the IGA in Lansing has the best chocolate covered bridge mix.
Anyway, back to the cabin...it is a treasure. If you are thinking of booking it, don't wait, because if you wait too long, you will miss out.
That's because there is just something special about this cabin...
