The first building recorded here was by the Normans in 1066, but there are earlier historical references going back to King Edgar in 966.
The cottage has been recently decorated to a high level. The furniture is a mix of modern, retro and antique creating an interior that is both elegant and relaxed in calming shades of grey. Guests have plenty of garden and parkland to roam with access to the parterre with a pond full of ornamental fish, meadow, fields and tennis court. This is one of the sunniest corners of Britain near the sea and South Downs. We have recently landscaped the outside area in front of the cottage planting a yew hedge, simple borders of lavender and a a couple of olive trees to give a crisp and simple Mediterranean feel.
