Shaw is a beautiful neighborhood, with row homes built in the 1920's. Amazing transit access to the rest of the city, and a lot of restaurant options near the metro and the apartment. Many of my neighbors have been in their homes for 30+ years, and the neighborhood has a small town feel to it, with neighbors saying hello to each other and walking over to chat with each other on their porch.
Car: Street parking is available. Please let me know if you plan to bring a car so we can get you a parking pass!
Metro: I am located .4 miles from the Shaw-Howard U metro station (green/yellow lines) es). This is a 6-8 minute walk from the apartment. Noma Metro Station (red line) is also within easy walking distance, .7 miles away.
Bike: There is a Capital Bikeshare dock located at Florida Ave & R St NW, approximately 1/2 block (.05 miles) from the apartment.
Taxi: Taking a taxi can be an economical way to access the apartment, especially if you're traveling in a group. Taxis from downtown will cost about $10-$15, depending on where you're traveling from.
I am a normal, 27 year old male who enjoys traveling and spending time at my parents house on the river. I love Washington, D.C. and hope you enjoy your time in our nations capital!
I am a very conscientious host, and really do go out of my way to make sure that my house can be a home to you while you are travelling!
Kyle WardDahl purchased this apartment in 2014
This apartment was renovated from top to bottom in Fall '14. I spared no expense in this renovation, and couldn't be happier with the end result. The renovation included a top of the line gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances and finishes, as well as beautiful granite and plenty of cabinet space!
The bathroom was renovated to include a large glass shower with rain shower head. It is amazing! This is an amazing space that will please all travelers! A vastly superior option to staying in a hotel when you visit the city!
I run this property by myself, and use the same cleaner EVERY time to turn over the property. We have become incredibly good at this, and I go above and beyond to make each stay incredible for ALL of my guests. From providing free unlimited coffee, to regularly replacing towels, linens, and ensuring that all kitchenware and accessories are provided, I make your stay incredibly easy. Just bring your luggage and groceries (if you want to cook!), I provide the rest!
First off I gotta give a shout out to Kyle!! Seriously, best owner we've encountered yet. We got in later and didn't have all essential info for our parking pass, he brought it to us at 1130pm, he didn't have to but totally did. I had questions and he was quick to text back! The neighborhood was quaint, cute, and I felt 110% safe. Which is saying a lot from this smaller town girl! My only hang up was parking, kind of a joke... because seriously the bus and train stops aren't far and uber at most to the museums and monuments was 9$--no need for a car. I'm extremely glad we stayed here, we love DC and would stay here again!
We have been coming to Washington, DC to visit our son and wife for about 4 years. We found this place, and it is 550 steps from their place. It is small but has everything you need except maybe a dining table, but the table shown works fine. The pictures are accurate of the condo. The shower was fantastic. The neighbors are very helpful and friendly, and there is a great barbecue restaurant very close along with a great breakfast place a block away. It's about 5 blocks from the Shaw metro which is very accessible. Thanks, Kyle
Terrific for our needs - eating out and touring the city. Beautiful friendly neighborhood. Close walking to many restaurants. Nice walk downtown. Kitchen had great high end appliances but no table for dining. General hanging out space was small but the price was low and what we expected. Very clean well kept apartment.
We stayed as a family of 4 (me, my wife and 2 kids). Very good location, not a long walk to the subway, very clean, well equipped and modern appartment. Kyle was very helpful and was there when needed. Coffee machine is great - makes a good coffee. Sufficient parking spots in the neighbourhood (make sure you get the guest permit) and avoid blocking the hydrants, which would cost you $50. The only thing is that it is not too big and eating a breakfast at the table is a bit challenging, otherwise really a great spot worth recommending to explore D.C. from.
We stayed in Kyle's appartment for four nights and cannot complain about anything in the appartment. New appliances, everything we needed was there. Very nice bath with great shower! Internet/WiFi was working without any problems, which we really appreciated. Kyle even brought a new Keurig coffee maker, because the other one seemed to be broken.
We would say it is perfect for two. I wouldn't recommend staying with more people, though.
Regarding the neighborhood: It was okay; however, if you have problems with long walks to the Metro or getting groceries, you should be aware of the distances...about half a mile (1 km) to both.
We didn't mind the walks, except for the departure. To get to the Metro station we took the Metrobus G8, which stops only a few steps from the appartment and was really good to get the luggage to the Metro.
Thanks to Kyle again for everything!
The owner is very helpful with the information about the place and surroundings The kitchen was well equipped and the washer and dryer worked great, the detergent was provided. The down side is that is was smaller than described, no table to eat on, just had a coffee table, and room for 2 to eat on the sofa. Also, no drawers for our clothes. There were a lot of things provided in the cupboards, like salt, pepper, sugar and other various items. The big food market is quite a trek away, but there is a mini market t and a wine store a short walk away.
LeDroit Park is a wonderful neighborhood. Located in the middle of Washington, D.C., and close to transit and downtown, but with a small-town feel, where neighbors say hello to each other. Neighbors love gathering at the farmers market held every Saturday 1 block from the apartment!
