Situated in the shadow of Mt Rainier our Mountain home sleeps up to 6 guests. Two very large bedrooms and two baths with one on each floor. Our upstairs features a covered deck with gas barbecue and is wonderful in rains, sun or snow. We have parking on the side of our home for 3 vehicles and a carport for a small compact car. Enter in the lower level which features the living room area including flat screen TV with DVD library, cable and cozy woodstove for those cold winter nights. Also downstairs is a large bedroom with a Queen bed and a day bed with pullout twin bed which would sleep 4 guests. Downstairs has an updated bathroom with shower and a full laundry room combined. What our guests love the most is the fully stocked, remodeled kitchen with eating bar and dining nook. It also features a large master suite with sitting area. Off the master suite is an enclosed deck which will be our future game room. Currently have Bumper Pool, card table and poker chips. Next to the kitchen and utility room is another fully remodeled bath as well as another access to the deck.
Rainier Mountain Cabin is a place to have a family and or friend gathering or is a great base for all the local activities of the area. Lots of hiking trails, pool in the summer, golf and more. We have a great internet system for those needing to stay connected. Come to Volcano Country for a fun and relaxing retreat.
Rich and DeAnne have always loved the outdoors. We were avid hikers in our early years and have loved nature, the fresh air and beauty of our area. We enjoy owning a home in the woods as well as a home on the ocean - getting the best of both worlds which represents Washington State well.
DeAnne purchased this chalet in 2014
As a child, I used to come to Packwood every summer with my family. We would hike and camp at Walupt Lake and Chambers Creek Campground. My dad and I would do over night hikes in the Goat Rocks. My husband and I decided to find the perfect mountain retreat. We loved the peace and quiet of the mountains away from the city. The views of stars at night, the fresh air. We stumbled upon this home which from the outside doesn't look like anything unusual - but walk inside and feel the ambiance of the hand hewn woodwork and the cozy cabin feel. As owners we like to fill the home with a little past history and have included old photo's of the area (DeAnne's Father worked the Fire Lookout in the early 50's) and some Historic maps. You will find our home to be clean and updated with lots of windows that look out into the treed landscape. We loved the dead end culdesac location in a nice little mountain cabin neighborhood.
ABOUT PACKWOOD AREA: Set at the base of the Tatoosh range and on the banks of the Cowlitz River, Packwood is surrounded by dramatic natural landscapes, most of which are in public ownership.
Packwood, located less then ten miles from the Ohanapecosh entrance to Mount Rainier national Park, also has a fairly direct connection to the Nisqually entrance via Skate Creek Road during the summer months. Packwood has several restaurants in its downtown core along US 12, also the town’s main street, and offers a wide range of day trips being near Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and the Gifford Pinchot national Forest in the summer. Packwood is just 20 minutes from White Pass Ski Resort for skiers during winter skiing season. Just another 20 minutes over the pass is Wine Country - Yakima for a nice little day trip of wine tasting. Lots of recreation and lots of natural beauty abounds.
You will enjoy the covered deck for sitting out on or having a barbecue - even in the rain and snow. For a cozy warm up after a day of skiing, we have the Country Woodstove which heats the home nicely. The kitchen is open concept with vaulted ceilings and is fully stocked for all the comforts of home. Part of the cabin is an original 1962 one story with original wood work and some updates. In 2007, the basement with additional bedroom and bath was built new. We are the second owners and the home has been lovingly cared for over the years.
My wife and two kids had a great time at the cabin December 2015. Very warm and peaceful home. Deanne had everything we need to make our stay enjoyable. Even a baby gate!
The convenient location to downtown Packwood and White Pass was ideal for us.
VERY nice cabin, amazing kitchen and separate living area as well as another separate area for games. Perfect for a get away ski vacation!
Very nice cabin, exactly as described. Kids had a lot of fun playing bumper pool. We've stayed in a lot of cabins in Packwood and enjoyed this cabin a lot.
Our family and friends of about 20 decided to go to Packwood over Christmas. We rented a large cabin and this cabin as spill over - mostly because this cabin was dog friendly.
The cabin is really easy to get too. (except for being in Packwood). It is surrounded by a lot of other cabins. It is not particularly close to the stream, but, in the winter you likely wouldn't be walking down that way. The roads in and out of the little area were really well maintained.
The cabin had a fireplace that provided a lot of heat and comfort with an easily accessible and sheltered stack of wood. The decks are not all that usable (or they were not because of the 3 feet of snow in the prior week). It was beautiful around the area.
The home was nice. We had some kids. They really liked the games and DVDs that were present in the cabin. The kids would go outside and play for a couple of hours and then come in and blanket up and get warm and watch TV or play games.
The bedroom had a sunroom with an awesome hot tub. It was not usable during our stay but would have been great. Our main gathering point was the other cabin - so not a real issue for us.
The owner was easy to work with and very responsive.
The cabin was spotless and had every comfort, including Direct TV and wifi. We hiked multiple trails around Ranier and got great rest here in between. Newly styled kitchen and bath were lovely. We just bumped our heads on the cooktop hood a lot. The setting was beautiful; just breathtaking to look out the windows!
My wife and I spent a week at this cabin in July and we had a great time! The location was perfect to reach the hiking trails and parks we planned to visit.
The cabin was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed making many meals in the very well supplied kitchen. The Packwood grocery store is conveniently located just a few miles away. This cabin also conveniently includes a washer/dryer, a/c, phone, cable and internet for those who can't quite "unplug". We are looking forward to a return visit someday. The owners were very attentive to our emails.
we (a two couples) have stayed in a wonderfull cabin.
the location was perfect and the cabin itself was great. lot of space internally and it was also great to sit outside on the deck.
the directions giving was also excellent. however we recommend to change the Shell station into Mobil and the firestation was hardly ot recognize. may be better to refer to the second road right after the bridge.
the recommended coffe place in Packwood was also a good recommendation.
in short an excellent place to be.
