Completely Renovated and looking brand new.
You must really love trains if you plan on visiting Harpers Ferry.
They pass through the Gap all day and night. If you don't like a horn whistle... you won't like being here. Most folks enjoy the charm of it.
The B n B has many steps. Steps inside... steps to get into the house.
This is the perfect place for anyone who enjoys a little cardio.
The energy that comes from within it's walls is pure love.
Sitting atop a bluff overlooking the Potomac River and the Shops of town. Just feet from the National Park and miles of hiking/biking trails. Amtrak and Marc commuter trains both stop just a 3 minute walk from the house.
You'll Fall asleep comfortably on firm pillow-top mattresses.
We are the Ideal place for a romantic weekend or vacation for two.
Two story, One bath, well equipped kitchen for creating terrific meals.
Dining room, Large Living room with GREAT Fireplace.
Front porch that puts you right out in the beauty of the Ferry, yet very private.
Private parking at the rear of the property (up the hill).
Convenient grocery shopping just 5 miles away in Charles Town.
Transportation for shopping can be arranged for anyone arriving by Train.
See the Town from the air.....
Steve Sherry and Greg Dean
That's us. 15 yrs partnered and recently tied the knot (thank you WV) We took pride in and Loved our little home for the last 15 yrs. 3 arduous years of restoration later and we're ready to share it with the world. We're lucky to live right next door in the Home we're NOW working to restore.
While Steve commutes to work in Bethesda each day, Dean stays home doing K9 rescue.
Our weekends are filled with friends and family often visiting.
Recently we hosted the wedding of our oldest daughter.... ahh the memories.
Pretty easy going and reasonable we'll strive to make your stay as wonderful as the last decade has been for us.
Greg Dean and Steve Sherry purchased this house in 2001
Just like i believe there's someone for everyone, I also believe there's a place for everyone.
Steve and Dean feel this village with it's Circa 1840 atmosphere is more than just home for them.
In 2001, we met the most wonderful resident of Harpers Ferry, and then she sold us her home. 15 yrs later, we're still best friends with her.
Quaint and charming are two overused words, but they really do describe the B n B.
These guys are the best VRBO hosts I have ever dealt with. Top notch house, location, view, and owners. We went to all of their food recommendations and they did not let us down. Highly, highly recommend this place to anyone!
I can't say enough nice things about this home. We were met with a welcome bottle of wine, music on the TV and our host, Greg Dean, who could not have been more pleasant to work with throughout the whole registration process. The home is an ideal location in the heart of Harpers Ferry. We picked up groceries in Charles Town (about 7 miles away) before arriving which allowed us to make full use of the kitchen without feeling like we needed to eat out; however, there are restaurants (most close around 6:00 pm) and lunch shops to choose from close by. The home's kitchen is fully equipped and had everything we needed to prepare meals. There is not a "traditional oven"; however, a convection/microwave oven and stove top burners was provided. I had never used the convection oven before and very detailed directions were given in our home guide (along with additional information about the home and miscellaneous historical facts about the town). Cooking a full meal in the convection oven worked great; I cooked several dishes in a 13X9 inch dish and it fit perfectly. We ate breakfast one morning at the Country Cafe a few miles drive to the upper town area on Washington Street which was amazing! The train station from DC is just across the street which made meeting our daughter who visited so convenient. The train whistles have been mentioned before, however, I agree with the other guests; it lends to the atmosphere of the town and you become almost immune to the whistle. Car parking, as mentioned, is up a hill behind the home; however, Greg and Steve have provide a lighted walking path from your car to the home. If you want to go tubing - we used River Riders and felt very comfortable with them. There are multiple hiking trails throughout Harper's Ferry; trails to drive to and others you can access directly from the home. Part of the Appalachian Trail is a block behind the home. You can also travel across the pedestrian bridge that goes alongside the train bridge in town for more beautiful walking/hiking paths. The visitor's center in town has maps, etc. Harper's Ferry is a 30-40 minute drive from Antietam Battle Field. The only drawback would be for someone who may not be able to climb steps easily - though handrails are provided on the outside and inside steps. You may compete for the balcony each morning for sunrise and coffee; that was my favorite place!
We really enjoyed our stay in Harpers Ferry. The house was right in the middle of the town and the views were amazing. The kids liked staying in the old house and we were able to find it in a lot of the paintings and drawings of Harpers Ferry. It was clean and very cute inside...we all loved the bathroom floor! Greg and Steve were very accommodating but gave us space to do our own thing too. We walked on the trails, visited the overlook, toured the town and white water rafted. I would love to visit again in the fall with the changing seasons and the cooler weather.
The home is beautiful and very comfortable. The view is breathtaking. And the owners are so friendly. They really make you feel at home. This is my happy place.
What an amazing property. Dean was so kind and helpful. We will definitely be returning!
My family and I stayed at the Bed and Biskit on Independence weekend. The house is beautiful. The view is spectacular. And the owners, Dean and Steve, really make you feel at home. We plan on coming back over and over again to this home.
Must Love Trains!!!
Amtrak, MARC and MANY CSX trains travel thru Harpers Ferry.
They do this at all hours of the day and night. While some may find the train noise disturbing, many find it relaxing and a joy.
We're hoping our guests are the latter.
