All of its historic charm plus all of the comforts of home. The living room has a built in desk and shelving surrounding the decorative fireplace. Yet there is a flat screen, cable and wifi all connected to it! Large formal dining room with a built in hutch. The kitchen has a dining area and original tile. Located in a hip and trendy Echo Park, Silver Lake's cooler neighbor. Just up the street from Sunset Blvd where the new Lassen's market just opened. A few more blocks down the street is the historic Echo Park Lake. Also, Fridays is the Echo Park Farmers Market with a variety of fruits and vegetables. Sunset Blvd has many offerings for eateries, cafes, shops and such. This is our 4th VRBO listing, please check out the attached links to my other property's so you can read the reviews!
Hi, my name is Gisele. My husband, Guy and I have a couple of VRBO property's. We are quite happy hosting our guests. We have lived in Silver Lake for about 15 years now. I am a Los Angeles native, one of the few left :)! We love this area for its architectural diversity, neighborhood feel, eclectic neighbors, and a great place to live. Feel free to ask for any suggestions of restaurants to where to go for fun!
This property is located in Echo Park. Just East of Silver Lake. It's funny, SL used to be the place to be, and now it just seems OK. Echo Park is the new place to be. It has new restaurants, clubs, bars and a new Lassen's Natural food market! There are always people walking around during the day and night, exploring all that Sunset Blvd has to offer. As well the historic Echo Park Lake is a great destination for a lovely walk around the lake or rent a paddle boat!
This 1920's Era home was built in a time that true craftsmen built homes. It has beautiful wood details in the trim and built ins. Yet it offers all of the comforts of home.
The website photos and property description are accurate. The property owners also are well-organized and I arrived with all the information I needed to retrieve the house keys and get settled. The windows were open when I arrived, which made sense since it was a coolish afternoon, but given my sensitivity to air pollution I quickly closed them up and cut on the two a/c, one of which is in the dining room, the other in the bedroom. Air conditioners, lights, cooktop, fridge, shower, cable tv, wi-fi, etc., all work as expected. The kitchen was clean and furnished with the appropriate utensils. Some might say that the bed is hard, but it was perfect for me. The duvet on it, while nice looking, is heavy enough that it would be more at home in a Canadian winter than southern California in September. There are some extra blankets in the hall cupboard. The house offers off-street parking, which I didn't use; there's usually plenty of parking spaces along this stretch of Logan.
The house and the neighborhood are pretty typical Echo Park, so don't arrive expecting Beverly Hills or Westwood. The neighborhood is pleasantly quiet. I wouldn't have known that I had neighbors had I not seen them occasionally come and go. And, yes, there is an elementary school across the street, but I didn't find that it made a big difference for noise or traffic.
The house location is excellent. The closest grocery is Lassens, which I didn't like much. There are several better ones close on Sunset Blvd. Echo Park itself is a short walk south (i.e., downhill) on Logan and across Sunset. If you walk from the house a couple blocks west on Scott to La Espiga Bakery, you'll find a great selection of pan dulce and bolillos, fresh every morning. It opens around 6 am. If you want something more substantial for breakfast or brunch, try Semi-Tropic, which is in the same block as La Espiga, but farther south down N. Glendale. Semi-Tropic does an outstanding avocado toast.
I booked this property as well as the one next store (both through same Property Manager) for my parent's and me to visit my family. The location is great. Walking distance to all the great restaurants on Sunset, 2 grocery stores and 2 parks and a quick drive to the new 365 Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. The house was just right and had everything I needed, including plenty of space to have my family over for dinner. We will definitely stay here again.
Thie rental is very nice and just as promised from pictures and discription given. Our flight arrived as 7:00 a.m. and Gissele allowed us to enter a couple of hours early which was very nice of her to do. It is a very cozy older home that has all of the things needed and then some for a great stay. There are local restaurants within walking distance so that is nice. We had breakfast at the Brite spot and dinner at Happy Toms and Masa of Echo park. All three of them I would recommend. Next time I am in LA I will stay here.
Thanks Giselle for preparing the cottage for our arrival! After a long drive it was nice to open the door to comfortable cool air! The neighborhood was quiet and safe. I would definitely want to stay again when I want to visit LA again.
We were very pleased with our stay. It was just what we wanted and where we wanted to be located. We will stay there again on our next trip.
This was a great cottage ! Fully stocked, we really didn't need to buy anything for our stay. The place was in great condition, beautifully decorated and Gisele had placed FRESH flowers in every room. Gisele was great to work with, very responsive and informative. The place is in a great location, easy drive in and out of the city and walking distance to some great areas within the city (short walk to sunset blvd). We had breakfast at Brite Spot on Sunset Blvd., more than once, every item was delicious, I highly recommend their banana nut pancakes. I would definitely rent again.
Echo Park is really Silver Lake's hipper neighbor! We are just 2 blocks up from Sunset Blvd, and 3 blocks up from Historic Echo Park Lake. Great restaurants, shopping, cafe's, nightlife, antique stores, and a new Lassen's market. Downtown is a few minutes away via side streets. An excellent location. This Bungalow maintains its original qualities as well as offers all of the comforts of home.
