Close to the sea this new house takes in the ambiance of the island without forgetting the home comforts of everyday living. Its' location allows you to enjoy both the Atlantic coast to the west and the calm beaches to the east.

At Le Clos des Lavandes you can expect modern facilities with beautifully coordinated bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. Both bedrooms have a tranquil vibe with furnishing reflecting the timeless lifestyle and natural surroundings of the island. There are numerous storage cupboards, quality kitchen equipment, a contemporary relaxing lounge with sofa bed and a dining area for 6-8 people if needed. All furnishing have been carefully chosen and coordinated bringing together the island's simplicity.

The enclosed walled garden is overlooked by large patio and French doors, is well lit and an extension to the living area. The wooden terrace is furnished with contemporary table, chairs and loungers as well as a gas barbeque to complete the al fresco experience.

The villa's location on the island is ideal for the beaches, Saumonards forest, historical tourist attractions of Saint-Georges or the islands' favourite pastime of cycling with a bike path located directly outside the villa; this is your opportunity to explore the island!

The island of Oléron is reknown as 'La Lumineuse’ for its' light and its' temperate climate. The wild natural beauty of the island makes it an ideal location for a wide range of activities, exploring and relaxing on one of the many stunning beaches.

What makes this villa unique

The villa has been designed and built by local artisans. It is young and fresh with plenty of natural light. The white faced property with grey shutters is typical of the architecture seen on the island.

Excellent holiday at this lovely and welcoming villa on the island of Oléron. Plenty of eating establishments nearby and the shops and market in the village of Saint Georges are all within easy reach. We had a very restful and enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend this property.

Beautiful island, disappointing property

We had a wonderful fortnight on the beautiful island of Oleron. The house was in a great location, walking distance from St Georges which was a small and friendly village and with a cycle path just outside. We loved exploring the island on our bikes and found many fantastic places to visit.

In terms of the property, there are couple of things it's worth mentioning. First of all, you do hear quite a bit of traffic as the house is right on the main road. Building works are taking place next door and over the road in addition to the general traffic, which adds to the ambient noise.

There is no air conditioning, so it can get very hot inside (you can't open the windows or you'll hear the traffic/builders). Also the two bedrooms overlook the road, so there is little privacy. And finally the garden is extremely small and mostly covered in weeds.

For the price we paid, this property was not good value for money.

Owner's Response: There are no building works in the vicinity of this property, all has been completed. All windows can be opened! The two bedrooms have shutters and voile which maintains the privacy at all times. Tower fans (ventilateurs colonne) are available should the need arise. The private walled garden is maintained by a gardener and the area is more than adequate for relaxation and dining.

Clean, modern property in good location

My wife and I had an enjoyable stay at this property having rented many properties on this island. The location suits us and this modern property offers spacious accommodation for two and probably four. All fittings are up to standard and there is good off road parking for two cars. The wifi is fast and unlimited. A general store, bakery and restaurants are within easy walking distance.

The only negative is that there are no fans available and we were there in a heatwave.

Clean, well equipped and in a good location

We are a family of three and had a great stay. The house was welcoming with lovely decor and was clean, fresh and well equipped. The location was great for cycling as adjacent to a cycle path along a road and only a 15 minute ride to lovely beaches. We were mainly cycling while on the Island amd hired bikes and a trailer for our toddler. The village has a nice bakery, supermarket and couple of restaurants. The park nearby was really useful for letting our child have a run around. Great place to stay and we would recommend it.

The centres of Saint-Georges d'Oléron and Chéray are both accessible by foot and bicycle.

The island is famous for its' seafood, especially the Marenne-Oléron oyster, sea-salt and vineyards, mainly in the north of the island. It is well worth visiting the major fishing port at La Cotinière, a few kilometres from the property.
