Beautiful and friendly but over priced
We hired all five cottages at Finca Can Domingo for a big family celebration. The place is a lovingly restored farm in the countryside and Patrick is a friendly and exuberant host, who made lots of effort to help us settle in. The pretty cottages are well appointed, with nice bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. The kitchens have nespresso coffee machines and efficient fridges. Patrick cooked a delicious meal for us one night, using produce from his own kitchen garden.
However, we were disappointed that, having paid 5-star prices there was friction with the host who nagged us about turning off the air conditioning when we went out, despite the 39 degree heat. Among our list of complaints were the unreliable wifi, the low door frame we constantly smacked our heads on and the requirement to take our rubbish along the road to the local restaurant.
None of this would have mattered if we hadn't paid such an incredibly steep fee for our stay. Finca Can Domingo is a rustic gem, rough around the edges and in need of a good polish to make it shine - its price should reflect this.
It is very interesting to have your point of view.
I will now give you mine.
“However, we were disappointed that, having paid 5-star.”
For this price you do not have for one day the same in a 5 stars that you have in the Finca for a week.
Including in the price, the fee for the website, VAT, tourist Tax, electricity, water, local tax, insurance, fuel for hot water and a full-time gardener for the maintenance of the park and the swimming pool.
At your disposition in full high season, from 3 to 10/8, in Mallorca,
a Finca with 20.000 sqm of land and park, 2 parking, at 2.5 km from the beach and the yacht club.
Five complete houses with:
8 Large Bedrooms,
5 complete kitchen
16 peoples sleeping
600 sqm of terrace
10.000 sqm of lawn.
Vegetable garden, etc...
When your sister does not disconnect the main router the internet connection was perfect.
If we have installed air conditioning it is obviously to use it.
But is it worthwhile to leave it running when you leave your house.
Where is the interest, to leave all the lights on during the day, when you are out of the Finca ???
It’s correct, I ask you to turn the clim off when you leaving the houses and to not use it with the windows and door open, it seems logical, no?
In one of house we have 2 compressors of the group of air conditioning burns, because using 24 h on 24 h, with door and windows open.
Your electricity consumption just for the air conditioning for the week was 8064 kwh, or if I see the price of electricity on my bill you spend 1637 € only for the clim…
Likewise for outdoor lighting, where is the interest leaving all the light on, when you sleep?
Outside, terrace and park we have more than 200 light points.
We were lucky that landing planes in Palma airport do not confuse the Finca with the landing strip, even 35 km away, seen from the top, it had to be seen…
Electricity is maybee free in England, well, unfortunately, not in Mallorca.
I do not think you do the same thing, at home.
That's correct, we are obliged to deposit the garbage in a container at 70 mts from the Finca.
I do not see where is the problem, indeed all the trash was in your houses when you leave. Thanks for all the ants that attracted. I would have preferred that you ask the gardener to take care of it rather than to leave them in your respective houses.
You're right there it was something rustic that requires a good polishing, when you were here.
