Bewerley Hall Cottage - Luxury bolthole for 2 in the Yorkshire Dales

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Chocolate box romantic cottage with views of Nidderdale

A truly unique place to stay, but don't just take our word, please read the many 5 star reviews from our guests.

There is so much to do. The location is perfect for walking, or as serious cyclist will know, Pateley Bridge was a key location for the Tour de France. For those of us less energetic York and Harrogate are a short drive away for shopping or visiting places of interest, as well as the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey being a 10 minute drive.

Built in 1780 for the head gardener of Bewerley Hall Cottage is warm and cosy and full of character and original features, and only a few minutes walk from Pateley Bridge winner of village high street of the year 2016 and was voted in 2018 one of the best places in the UK to live. The cottage can be your second home for a short break or even longer. With views over Nidderdale from the rear of the cottage and the cherry tree lined village green to the front, the outlook from every window it is perfect. The gardens to both front and back are the ideal place to sit and sip a glass of wine.

You enter into the cottage by the sun room with views from its windows across the stone flagged courtyard over the dale. You then go into the oak kitchen with the stone staircase in the corner and exposed ceiling. Lots of appliances and handy supplies such as foil and cling film, so no need to pack the kitchen sink! Another door leads off to a large boot room with WC and washer dryer, a perfect spot to dry damp clothes after a day's hiking, or to rub down your dog.One step from the kitchen to the sitting room with a large log burner sitting in the stone fireplace, wooden ceiling, comfortable sofa and leather library chair. There are books, maps, DVD, CD and WiFi is also available along with an iPod docking station. It is then up the stone steps to the romantic bedroom with a king sized bed dressed with Egyptian cotton bedding. Finally the large en suite bathroom comes with walk in shower and slipper bath, complete with luxury Heyland and Whittle toiletries .

Outdoor there is garden furniture in both the rear and front gardens so you can soak up the sun. There is also two off street parking spaces so no need to worry about your car if you decide to spend a day walking.

About Nigel

Nigel and his wife Denise have lived in Nidderdale for nearly 30 years and we share our home with our two labs, Russ and Willa along with our Highland ponies Landrick and Pushy. We live just 10 minutes from the cottage so we are always on hand if needed and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area.

Nigel purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Nigel chose Bewerley

Just visit the cottage and you will know why. Its warm, cosy and romantic and set in a perfect location for walking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Harrogate is only 20 minutes drive away with some of the best shopping in the north of England. Pateley Bridge is the winner of best village high street and is only 5 minutes walk away with its excellent butchers, bakers and small supermarkets.

What makes this cottage unique

The character of the cottage is unique. We love the front entrance with its gothic style arch. For our guests they tell us they also love the location, because they can leave their car and enjoy so many walks from the front door, yet at the same time be within a few minutes of the small town of Pateley Bridge

Lovely cottage for a relaxing stay

  • 4 of 5

We spent a lovely few days at the cottage as part of our honeymoon. The cottage is beautifully decorated and clean, with a very comfy bed! It has everything you need for a relaxing and peaceful stay. Lovely welcome touches of wine and cake were much appreciated! We were blessed with lovely weather to be able to enjoy lunch in the garden while taking in the wonderful views. The location is great, with Pateley just on your doorstep for shops/restaurants etc. and some great walks nearby. Would love to come back!

A lovely property in a wonderful location a credit to the owners

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week, the only issue was the weather was too hot. Yes that is in North Yorkshire. The property was lovely, best we have stayed in, with some lovely personal touches. Very thoughtful. The owners were there to advise when needed and let you get on with your holiday if they weren't, very informative and helpful. Pateley Bridge is a chocolate box location with many walks to enjoy. There was pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance and priced really well. There is much to do if you want to and the walks along to Wath (with the Sportsman to buy a nice cold drink at the end) was our normal start to the day. The sight of a barn owl hunting was a real treat.

Thoroughly recommend and 5 stars no doubt deserved.

We will be back (the dog was at home too).

Cottage had everything you needed. Very clean and tidy. Modern but had retained some original features. Great location for walking or cycling. The little welcome treats was a nice touch too. We will be going back.
