Private and Clean Location Location Location!

What a perfect home for our first visit to Guadeloupe! The property is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood above the popular Grand Anse beach. The mature plants and garden insure privacy without blocking the view of the sea. Whether you are cooking in the well-equipped kitchen or sitting in the comfortable vaulted ceiling living room or waking to the sound of the birds in the bedroom adjacent to the pool or the master bedroom you have an unobstructed view of the ever-changing ocean and horizon. The tasteful decor and wrap around porch is outdoor living at its finest. We spent most of our time reading and soaking up the sun on the uncovered area of porch or cooling off with a dip in the saltwater pool or sitting under the covered area watching the birds and the everchanging sea. In the evenings we had cocktails to toast the gorgeous sunset colors on the water and in the sky. The tree frogs came out at night for a dinner serenade and we danced under the stars thanks to the powerful Wifi connection for streaming music.

When you want to take a break from your private luxury, the beach is a short drive to Grand Anse, or walk to avoid the parking which can get a bit crowded. So nice to have the option! We had lunch out at several beachside casual restaurants (can't recommend Le Banana, try Lagon instead at the end with ocean, beach and lagoon views!). The medium-sized town of Deshailes has a fantastic boulangerie and an adequate Spar grocery. Tip: spend an hour picking up basic groceries and supplies on your drive from the airport to the house. Pricey items to bring with you include sunscreen, mosquito repellent and cosmetics.

Just a bit further is the Botanical Gardens. Very educational though majority of plant signs are in French. Fun to be able to go back to the home and identify breadfruit, mahogany, banana, lime, palm trees and red ginger and many other plants just off the porch.

We drove further south along the N2 thinking we would go as far as the volcano but it is a winding road with many elevation changes. After several hours, we decided to have lunch and head back. Beware and allow plenty of time to get to the south of the island. Maybe next time for us!!

We look forward to a visit and stay next year in this lovely home. We were ready to book again but the calendar is already full for the next 4 months! We thank the owner Christine for all her help and advice before and after the trip. Thank you for sharing your home with us

Superb location, generous well designed house, very attentive owner

Location has all visitors wish for - short walk to one of the best beaches on this side of the island, 5min drive to great fish restaurants and your typical French food shopping, security of other houses nearby, but still a lot of privacy. House is designed as a vacation house and is beautifully thought through with all basics guests might need. Owner is available on emails very quickly and is really making staying relaxing, non intrusive and full of advice. We were 3 adults and 2 small kids and loved our stay! Looking forward to coming back!

Magnifique!

We had a wonderful stay at D’ile en ile. The home is immaculate and the décor is beautiful and comfortable. The view of the sea from the patio is awesome and the cool mountain breeze refreshing. After a day spent on the beautiful beach, the Grande Anse or hiking on the many trails found on the island, we prepared most dinners in the well equipped kitchen. The highlight of many days, was enjoying a cocktail in the lounge chairs while watching a gorgeous sunset and then enjoying a home cooked dinner on the patio.

The owner, a woman from France, Christine was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Thankfully, her English was much better than my French, and it made making the arrangements very easy. Even though she was not on site, she was always available by telephone, email or text messaging. After we arrived, a friend of Christine’s named Regi who spoke English, stopped by to make sure that we were settled in and gave us several tips of things to do on the island. Celine, a native Guadeloupian, also stopped by. She was available to help with any problems with the house during our stay. She was very charming, pleasant and is currently learning English.

The town of Deshaies is quaint and tiny but has everything you might need, a grocery store, several small restaurants and a few tiny boutiques selling local souvenirs.

We would not hesitate to stay here again the next time we return to Guadeloupe.

Une Villa enchanteresse !

Ce fut un merveilleux séjour dans la villa d'île en île de Christine. Dominant la charmante grande Anse de Deshaies (l'une des plus belles de Guadeloupe), cette charmante villa niché au coeur de la forêt , nous a enchanté. C'est le pied à terre idéal pour découvrir toutes les merveilles qu'offre la Guadeloupe.

Christine, bien qu'elle ne soit pas sur place, nous a accompagné avant et pendant le séjour avec sympathie et réactivité. Merci de nos avoir fait partager ce petit coin de paradis.

It was a perfect trip. The House is great!

Great atmosphere, fits perfectly in the landscape.

Magnificent terrace with a great pool and a wonderful view of the Caribbean Sea. The contact was great and we got almost daily fresh fruit from the garden. 100% recommendation!
