About Christine Lang

We've lived and worked overseas for over 20 years and currently work in West Africa. We fell in love with the house from pictures on the internet and reality has exceeded our expectations, the only sounds those of running water and bird song (and yes the occasional tractor).

Christine Lang purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Christine Lang chose Lignol

Charming Gite in beautiful gardens

  • 5 of 5

We spent a peaceful and relaxing week in this charming property. The setting and gardens are truly magnificent with a babbling river and mill race running through - home to numerous dragonflies, colourful demoiselles and butterflies. Kingfishers can be seen flying up the river in the evening. The house is compact, comfortable and quirky providing an excellent living space for two. Christine and Norbert very helpful but not intrusive at all. We would thoroughly recommend the property and the surrounding area.

A peaceful stay in tranquility

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place to relax and unwind : a perfect retreat for a short stay. Surrounded by fairytale woodland, my partner and I relaxed in the gardens, enjoyed endless walks and day trips out to local villages. This is a great place for a solo or couple retreat - thank you for a wonderful stay, Christine!

The watermill was just simply amazing.

The grounds to relax in were brilliant and i think we ate in all the different places around the garden every morning and evening. I would recommend this place to everyone and the cost was brilliant too.So thanks to Christine we had a wonderful week and will certainly return in the future .

A very lovely property with nice surroundings and many kind places in the garden

  • 4 of 5

The property is exactly like it is shown, but some of the lovely places in the garden you have to

find out by yourself.

Chris has been very friendly and helpfull and we enjoyed talking to her. At one or two cold evenings the oven heated the house quickly and nice.

If you are looking for a peacefull holiday house with nice surroundings and friendly people and a

really good bed - come here and try out.

Kelly Bray, Callington

Quiet and peaceful, and not to remote.

  • 4 of 5

Lovely place and well equiped although some kind of music player would have been good. Really interesting grounds and right alongside the stream and mill race. Gardens are attractive although in September they were a bit overgrown, some plants rather congested the pathways around the cottage which was OK except after the rain which also made the decking in the lower patio a bit greasy and slippy but all else was fine.

Our only regret was with all that wood about it's a shame the heater isn't a wood burner instead of an oil heater, wasn't really cold but some evenings it would have nice to sit in front of a wood fire, maybe a fire pit would be a good idea.

All in all though a really clean pleasant place and just as described. We never did get to try any of the local restaurants but used the Intermache at Guémené-sur-Scorff.

Oh and if you need WiFi go to the Library in Guémené-sur-Scorff, up at the top of the main street by the small parking area.

Of interest are the castle walls in the town and are worth a look, our main reason for visiting this area was to visit the Carnac area but due to a miscalculation on my part they were a bit farther away than I realised but still reachable, about an hour and twenty away.

Good area for walking at least some of the roads, usually quiet, and forest tracks.

Owner's Response: Dear Stephen Thank you very much for your review, I hope you enjoyed your holiday. The garden does tend to get rather exuberant in Autumn! Your suggestion for music is well note. We are fitting a wood burning stove, (the oil was inherited) and in fact only yesterday purchased one that is suitable so hopefully should you decide to have another holiday with us, you will indeed be able to relax in front of it! With kind regards, Chris
