An Idyllic 16th Century Country Farmhouse Set In Rolling Dorset Countryside

About Charlotte Booth
I'm a jazz/cabaret singer, ex-actress and Aerialist instructor, and something of a coffee nut, so there is always very good coffee to be had here! I am married to a photographer and have two small slightly noisy, but adorable boys. We have converted an old barn into an aerial silks studio and photographic studio so we now run circus and photography camps from home. We love to travel with packs on our backs to distant lands with adventure in mind, but love nothing more than walking through the beautiful Dorset countryside we're so lucky to live in. Theatre, books and swimming are what make me tick, when time from running a busy family allows that is. We have a pretty relaxed and laissez faire attitude as befits life in the countryside.

Why Charlotte Booth chose Broadwindsor
This is just one of many similar reviews we have had: 'Charlie and Tim's farmhouse is an amazing place for a big family holiday. Everyone in our party was thrilled by the sheer amount of space, both inside and outside the house. The hosts are very generous in sharing the contents of their fabulous home and there's plenty to do in both good and bad weather. The lawn is perfect for cricket and football, the rope swings and zip wire kept the kids amused and we enjoyed feeding the chickens and tracking down their eggs (rarely in the nesting box). Inside there are lots of toys and games as well as relaxing space for adults. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped with a warming aga (useful for a British summer), there's multiple bathrooms (with very soft towels) and the beds are very comfy. Despite the rather rainy weather we had a lovely few days here. Bridport, West Bay and Lyme Regis are all nearby and Beaminster is very pretty. I would thoroughly recommend this house for a memorable family holiday'
What makes this Farmhouse unique
It really is a chance for children to run wild and do all those things you often only read about in novels. For adults, you have the remarkable freedom to walk for hours in uninterrupted countryside without seeing anyone other then sheep, rabbits and birds (and the occasional deer) and if it rains, you can still lose the children in the house and manage to have a quiet corner to read a book or play the piano. It quite simply has a terrific vibe about the house. Its a happy place to be.

A lovely farm house
Beautiful house with fantastic grounds. Great for children and adults. Really enjoyed looking after chickens and geese. House is spacious and comfortable. Owners went to a lot of trouble to make us feel welcome. Would highly recommend. Lovely area with plenty to do in all weathers.
Beautiful Dorset Oasis
We felt honoured and privileged to be renting this beautiful farmhouse, surrounded by all the photos and artefacts of the owners’ fascinating lives... Not forgetting the inquisitive chickens and ducks, whose fresh eggs made the tastiest of breakfasts... the rooms were cosy, the grounds great and safe for the children to play in and explore, the house wants for nothing... We relaxed into the week and felt immediately at home. Altogether fabulous, thank you so much Charlie and Tim. We can not recommend you highly enough xx
Breathtaking property. Find time to walk to through the fields to The New Inn. My girls met and fed delightful donkeys, saved a sheep caught in a fence, played soccer til we fell down laughing, and cooked eggs til we burst!
Wonderful house. Loved exploring the huge grounds.
We loved exploring the huge garden and actually ate most of our meals outside (we had mostly warm weather while there).
We also went to four different beaches while there (25-45 minutes away).
Thanks for having us stay in your lovely home!
p.s. A minor suggestion: perhaps have the instructions for feeding the animals in table format and all on one page.
Loved it. Great house with wonderful art to look at, plenty of space for a huge family. Kids loved it
Superb farmhouse experince
An excellent place with great facilities and attentive owners - highly recommended.
We are only 15 minutes drive from the stunning Jurassic Coast, and deep in the heart of Thomas Hardy countryside (Far from the Madding Crowd was filmed all around this area) You can walk to the charming village of Beaminster through fields of sheep and donkeys. Or to a local pub with excellent food and atmosphere. We have award winning restaurants in the village and masses of activities in the surrounding countryside.
