Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4

Sleeps 4, with 2 bedrooms. One with double bed, one with twin beds.

La Braudière was built in the 19th century, to operate the barrier over the railway line. Nowadays, the railway tracks are just a distant memory, leaving miles of leafy, tree lined paths, meandering through woods and open countryside. A walker's paradise!

This charming stone cottage has been thoughtfully renovated, with lots of original features – a successful blend of original character and modern comfort. It is simply and tastefully furnished, and the overall effect is bright, light and fresh.

Set on its own, the house is surrounded by fields, tracks, rivers and woodlands, perfect for exploring by foot, by bike, or maybe walking the dog! You're not too far from civilisation, however, as only 2 kms away is the village of La Trimouille, where you will find shops, restaurant, cafe, bakery, pharmacy, and cinema.

Located in the department of the Vienne, with its peaceful countryside, ancient castles and medieval towns and villages, La Braudière provides a brilliant base for a holiday. Enjoy the local amenities (the aroma of freshly baked baguettes from the nearby bakery, is truly mouthwatering). Settle into the slower pace of French life with a leisurely amble through the lanes, rich with wildlife. Explore the many tourist attractions of the area. Or simply sit in the garden, with a glass of wine, enjoying the spectacular night skies. Whatever you enjoy, there is something for everyone.

Accomodation.

Airy and light filled living room with original fireplace and woodburning stove. DVD player and stereo system. Large selection of DVDs and CDs.

Modern, well equipped, fitted kitchen with seating for 4. Electric hob (induction), electric oven, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge, washing machine.

Light filled and spacious bathroom/shower room.

Two bedrooms upstairs. The master bedroom is roomy, comfortable and tastefully decorated. It has an antique French bed, wardrobe and wash basin. Second bedroom has twin beds and chest of drawers. Large selection of books.

Outdoors.

The garden is enclosed – at the front of the house, there is a pretty, gravelled front garden with table, chairs and private parking. There is also a lawned area, a further table and chairs, and steps leading up to a large grassy field. Private parking.

About Joanne Peacock

My husband and I came to live in France, attracted by the peace and tranquillity, beautiful countryside, and gentler pace of living, and it didn't disappoint.

Why Joanne Peacock chose Journet

We love this railway cottage, and it's fascinating history of steam trains and days gone by.

In this quiet corner of France, we feel truly relaxed. The house is thankfully cool in the summer, and cosy in the winter. We love to stroll along the former tracks, set up the barbecue, or simply sit in the garden with a glass of wine. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as we do....

A clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a short, three night break in this lovely rural cottage. Upon arrival the owner was present to show the property and instruct us on the use of the wood burning fire that heated the radiators. The house was beautifully warm and the supply of logs was more than enough to maintain that warmth. In the bathroom we found snuggly towels and a great shower. The kitchen was well equipped and the supply of really hot water never faltered, even washing up was easy with such a good and plentiful supply. La Trimouille is a lovely local village that has a patisserie and store stocking all needs. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and would like to thank the owner for the welcoming bottle of wine.

Ideal gite If you are looking to get away from it all.

Wonderful cottage, great decor, with all the facilities that you need. Pretty garden.

The cottage was in a great spot with walks down the old tramways to the local village. Ideal if you have a dog.

Relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Joanna's cottage. The house is lovingly and tastefully decorated. It was very comfortable. The location is very quiet. The house is near the road, but there is hardly any traffic. The kitchen is equipped well enough to cook a nice meal, although I was unable to find the lids for the pots. I probably was not looking hard enough :-D

We had a great stay here. We walked to the village with our two boys following the track of the old railway (no rails anymore, but a comfortable walking path). That was really lovely.

Ambiance Chaleureuse à la Trimouille

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
