To the outside of the property there is off road parking for one car and a patio area with furniture and a barbecue. Shepherds Cottage is a quirky cottage and is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic getaway in glorious countryside with walking from the doorstep.

The surrounding countryside is full of excellent walking opportunities through high, open moorland and pretty wooded valleys. Nearby are the waterfalls of High Force and Cauldron Snout, which are often considered to be amongst the most spectacular sights in the district.
