This 2 bedroom gite sleeps up to 4 people in two double bedrooms. It is based in a small hamlet within a 10 minute stroll of the beautiful Charente river. Cognac is just a 5 minutes drive away as is the lovely Cognac Golf Course. The gite is situated in enclosed grounds of the owner's property, a former cognac distillery. It sits adjacent to the main house and has a sunny, south facing terrace ideal for sunbathing and alfresco dining. Our guests have exclusive access to a very special hot tub where you can relax all year round.
The gite is ideal for golfers and we can provide some golfing equipment if needed.
The property is newly refurbished and has central heating and a wood burning stove which makes it ideal for out of season renting. It has two double bedrooms, a shared shower room, and a lounge with plenty of comfortable seating. The fully equipped kitchen includes a full oven and hob, dishwasher and fridge. Access to a washing machine is provided in an adjacent building. Bed linen and towels are provided as well as towels and robes for the hot tub.
Wifi, a Television and DVD player is available (french and english).
The property is totally enclosed and secure and we are happy to welcome one or two friendly dogs.
The property sits in the heart of the hamlet and is surrounded by lovely walks. You can wander down to the Charente river through the woods and vines and follow the path along the river towards Cognac or the lovely town of Jarnac where there are lots of places to eat, shop and and explore. This is also an excellent cycle route and we can provide bicycles if needed.
You will require transport to enable you to enjoy the area fully although the hamlet is well situated. Local amenities including shops, restaurants and bars can all be found within a five minute drive. The beaches at Royan can be reached within an hour and la Rochelle is just a short drive further. The many attractions of the Dordogne are also easily accessible by car.
If you love Cognac you will enjoy staying in the heart of the `champagne' cognac region. You can enjoy the surrounding vineyards and visit one or two of the many cognac houses, where you can sample the cognac and pineau, our local liqueur.
