We have lived in the Cotswold for nearly 30 years and have just retired to Devon. Our main interests have been showing ponies with our granddaughter winning many top awards and showing at the Horse of the Year show The ponies are now retired and live near to us in Devon

Why Owner chose Stow-on-the-Wold
We fell in love with this charming cottage as soon as we saw it and it is perfect for visiting the many beautiful Cotswold villages. Also being with walking distance of Stow with all its individual shops, pubs, tea rooms and restaurants We often visit our family who live locally and use this lovely cottage ourselves We have had many visitors from home and abroad who love this typical example of a Cotswold cottage.

As we left Stratford Upon Avon we pointed our car toward the town of Stow-on-the-Wold. Quaint roads greeted us turn after turn until we reached our appointed location. Entering through the main solid door we were transformed into a cozy home that transported us into a place and time that is difficult to describe but must be experienced. The low ceilings and exposed beams harken to a day when things were so different, yet providing all the modern conveniences needed. Our family of five settled into our beds that night and slept well as the thick stone walls blocked the happenings from outside. The following morning we proceeded to stroll the streets and shops before we grabbed coffee and pastries then off for the day to experience the Cotswolds. From towers to canals filled with ducks we experienced the beauty, narrow roads and high hedgerows that makes this area so wonderful. Again we returned after a full day to our cozy home to a bite of chocolate cake provided by Christine and Philip. Our enjoyment of the area is as a visitor, yet for a few nights we were privileged to be on the inside looking out.
Quintessential Old World English Cottage
Lovely location, charming cottage, easy access and communication. We spent time in the private garden in the back for reading and tea. Loved this place and will return!
That you for your lovely comments and we look forward to your return
Great location (M&S food across the street a bonus) with great local shops and restaurants and other villages. Pretty and comfortable cottage with everything you need.
Gable Cottage was a pleasure to live in for 2 1/2 weeks. Very comfortable and quiet with a lot of material for visits in and around Stow - hint: review the touring lit in the cottage before going out and buying your own. We had no problems parking in front of the cottage. The TV & Wi-Fi were functional. The big plus is its location... Stow has several nearby rambles, tea rooms, restaurants, shops and a Tesco. In addition, it is an ideal location for excusions around the northern Cotswold - many of which can be done by public transportation - if you are nervous about driving in GB. The only drawback to the location was the town shutting down after 1700 - with the exception of its restaurants. My only real complaint about the cottage was the doorway height into the master bedroom - which took me a couple of head bangs to realize - DUCK!
Charming Cotswolds cottage
From the moment you see it in the row if equally pretty cottages you will know you made the right choice !
The home is lovely, comfortable and a joy to relax in!
Thank you for your lovely comments . So pleased you liked the cottage
Perfect for our 3 night stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gable Cottage.
It was quite comfortable both upstairs and downstairs. The beds we comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and quite functional given their size constraints. The AGA in the kitchen was a delight to try, and the little dining room was perfect for catching up on work-related issues at the end of the day.
The location was superb. It was only a short walk to the town square where there were several restaurants, and the TESCO was just a hop, skip and a jump down the street.
That said there were two minor issues you should be aware of:
Read the instructions carefully. We forgot to turn up the thermostat upstairs, and one person in our party caught a cold as the temps dropped to around freezing the first night. We figured it out later but couldn't reverse the cold.
As you would expect in a Cotswolds cottage, the door jams are lower than normal upstairs, so it is easy to bump your head. All three of us wacked our heads at least once.
But I would not let these minor issues deter me from staying there again and neither should you.
Dear Roger, we thank you for the comment and are glad to see you enjoyed your stay. Sorry if the cottage details concerning the heating are not clear enough and we will look at this. As for the bumping of heads it does take getting used to and even after four years of owning the cottage I still occasionally hit the woodwork.
Hope to have you all back at some point in the future.
