St Owens is a town cottage with rustic charm but with all mod cons. Easy walking distance into Cowes, close to all amenities. Great restaurants, bars, sailing activities and ferry links to the mainland. The house has 3 good size double bedrooms, all with flat screen TV`s able to sleep a minimum of 6 persons. There is a separate on suite shower in one of the top bedrooms and a newly built wet room/ w/c on the ground floor. A popular property for those who like their yachting, three single beds have been added. It has a south facing garden with extensive decking and a barbecue. A real home from home, just a 2 hour rail trip from London Waterloo. The island has some great attractions, beaches, music festivals and a glorious micro climate having some of the sunniest days in the U.K

Why Matt chose Cowes
Lots of upgrades to the house but kept the original fittings that define this house from the average

Great holiday home.
Beautiful holiday house in a great location. Very regular buses to help getting around the island and parking no problem despite being on a main road. Not noisy either. Lovely oldy worldy feel with all mod cons, this house has great character. Enough in the house to keep us entertained on a very rainy day. Don’t be deceived by the smallish front room. Still comfortable for 4 adults and a toddler. Bedrooms and upstairs bathroom are plenty big enough. Probably not for you if stairs are an issue, but for us it was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. Jackie was helpful with any issues and someone even put the bins out. WiFi ends with a b not a 6 like we thought. Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful house Matt, and sorting the booking issues when the website failed. Top notch (thumbs up from us all)
Well..... Thank you very much!! We try to make it as comfortable as possible ( especially for those rainy days) where you can relax with a dvd or board game, but hopefully more sunny days to enjoy the garden and bbq . Glad you enjoyed yourself and hope to see you soon back on the Isle of Wight.
Convenient base for a family holiday
An old property in a residential area, the house, which is on three floors, is generally comfortable and well equipped. The owner has provided lots of modern comforts such as TV screens in all the rooms, an excellent Wi-fi connection, large American - style fridge/freezer, lots of kitchen appliances, good washing machine and tumble dryer, nice patio and garden area with barbecue.
The steep staircases needed some care (especially the lower one which has an open side below the bannister rail), but our two children (aged 4 and 7 years) coped with no problem.
The seating spaces are not large so it’s very cosy with 6 people in residence. The ground floor wet room is a useful feature but quite small so that it’s hard to keep anything in there dry if you’re showering - just leave your clothes outside in the glass conservatory! 😄
Matt, the owner, is very helpful and quick to respond to any queries or concerns.
Hi Maggie .thanks for your review, much appreciated. I will look at the issues you have raised and hopefully address them to make the stay at Cowes House St Owens a smoother experience for future guests.
Well equipped town house
The house was in a handy location being far enough away from the centre of Cowes, but within a few minutes walk. Aldi was also only a 5 minute walk in the other direction, so was really handy.
We had a couple of minor issues, but these were quickly sorted when raised with the owner, so no complaints there.
The cottage was very well equipped, with plenty of beds for the 5 of us to choose from. The bedding was clean and there were plenty of towels and the bathroom was a very good size, plus having the shower in one of the upper floor bedrooms was very useful.
We are enjoyed our stay in Cowes, thank you
Hi Glen, thank you for your review and am pleased you had a good time and hope you visit again.
It felt like home from home
This house was very comfortable and felt like home from home the moment we stepped through the door.
Also the house is well placed to walk into Cowes.
All in all I would recommend it as long as mobility isn't an issue since the stairs are rather steep.
We had a great time on the IOW.
Thanks Karen for your review I`m glad you had a great time on the Isle of Wight and especially that you enjoyed my home. I hope you visit our Isle again someday. Matt
This is a great little, big house. A bit of a tardis with the small sitting room off the front door hiding much more. It's cosy and cute with lots of character and the centre of Cowes is an easy walk away. On chilly days, we had the log burner going and on sunny days, we dined al fresco in the east facing garden. A great holiday base for exploring the island.
Appreciate your kind comments and hope you visit us again sometime.
Is a lovely property with a cosy feel
We enjoyed a 4 night stay here. As we walked through the door you first notice that it has character and the property has that cosy feel. It is quite small downstairs so there were a few hazards for my one year old but we was out most the day so wasnt too bad. Only disappointing thing was that the property could have been cleaner ready for our arrival. Apart from that the property is lovely , with everything you need.
Hi Josie, I shall mention your concern to the cleaners as the house should be spotless and have never had any issues regarding this before. It will be addressed. Also am glad that your stay was otherwise a good one.
Great place for off rd hiking and biking. Beach and sea activities, sailing etc
Plenty of good bars and restaurants locally
