Glenfruin Lodge Review

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and included all the necessary items and appliances for an independent stay. It was well situated for our daily excursions. The surrounding area is quiet, and the scenery is beautiful. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Throughout our stay there were times when the electrical sockets and internet did not work. The owner addressed it and showed us how to reset the electrical panel.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would definitely reserve the cottage again in the future.

Thanks for a relaxing place to stay!

Excellent location, cottage and hosts

  • 5 of 5

Myself and two friends have just returned from a wonderful stay at this cottage. The cottage itself has everything you could need including a huge bath which was great to soak in after a long walk! The hosts were brilliant and we did not want for anything. Will certainly be returning!

Cute country cottage, good location, great facilities- perfect for couples or family with baby

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is in an accessible location, just a few minutes from the main road and easy to find. Great for getting around to see the sights of Loch Lomond and even further afield. It was really well done up, good facilities and very comfortable - very big bedroom, which was great as we had a little one sleeping in a travel cot.

I would definitely consider staying here again.

Only niggles were very creaky floorboards (only a problem because of sleeping baby in same room) and how close we were to main house and other cottage. I personally prefer to be more alone, but not a big deal at all.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you very much for our fantastic stay at this wonderful cottage (Glenfruin Lodge).

The weather has been amazing this week which made our visit perfect. Balmaha is a must and a trip to Inchcailloch island highly recommended. Lunch at the Oak Tree Inn was brilliant and the food very very nice.

P.S. Go to the Glasgow Museums - great day out.

Luss Village (on Loch Lomond)
Car: recommended

Glenfruin Lodge is located at the head of Glen Fruin which offers bird watching, wildlife, cycling and walking on the doorstep. It is also right on the cycle path between Helensburgh and Loch Lomond.

You don't have to be a hill walker or cyclist to enjoy the outdoors - there are some fantastic scenic drives such as Dukes Pass between Aberfoyle and Callendar, and the drive to Glencoe (Skyfall country). You could also get a ferry to Dunoon, Argyll peninsular or the Island of Cowal. The location is so centric to so many places options are endless.

Places of interest include Luss Village on the banks of Loch Lomond, a conservation village which featured in 'Take the High Road' (for those who can remember!). Also Inverary is worth a visit and has a great scenic drive along the sea lochs to get there as well as Inverary Castle and grounds (only about 1 hour drive).

Glasgow is also only 45 mins away, a good way to travel is by train (every 30 mins) from either Balloch or Helensburgh. Or you could travel on the West Highland line to Oban, Fort William & Mallaig enabling everyone to sit back and enjoy the spectacular views.
