Our cozy cabin is located on a nice forested 5 acre parcel just 3 minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride from downtown Talkeetna.

We also have smaller cabins with a shared bathhouse available under VRBO listing #664032, #683448, #685982, #685200

Our Main Cabin features one large bedroom, a full kitchen, a private bath, & sleeps 2-4 comfortably. The cabin has a queen, double, & futon for sleeping.

About Dave and Heather Fish

Our family has been in Talkeetna since 1999. We have two beautiful little girls that just love rafting and fishing. We are the original owner of Sandfish Fly & Tackle. We currently operate our rafting, fishing, & lodging business off of our beautifull 5+ acre parcel just 3 miles from downtown Talkeetna. This cabin worked out great for our family. Close to town and we were able to cook some great meals.

Our family of 4 stayed in this cabin for 10 days and had a great experience. It was nice relaxing outside on the porch after spending most of our days exploring Talkeetna. Also enjoyed sitting around the campfire a few nights. I also suggest booking a guided fishing trip with the owners during your stay. Fun for the whole family!

Cozy and comfortable!

We loved this cabin and would definitely stay again. It is the perfect balance of rustic and modern with adequate kitchen accommodation and a spacious bathroom. Other cabins on the site do not have private bathrooms, so we were pleased to have this privacy. We spent every evening on front deck enjoying each others' conversation and the gorgeous surroundings.

Rustic comfort

First I want to say that the owners, Dave and Heather, could not have been nicer! Very friendly and provided anything we asked for.

The beds are upstairs, so keep that in mind if you have an issue with stairs. Internet is provided, but no tv. No dishwasher or ice maker. Not a problem with ice, except it is ten miles to the nearest grocery store. The couch provided is very uncomfortable.

Despite all of this we got used to these things and had a great time. The cabins are only a few years old, so the owners are still making improvements. We took a great float trip with Dave! Talkeetna is a fun little town, and we definitely recommend the Denali Glacier landing with Talkeetna Air Taxi.

Our first Alaskan experience

I was looking for a trip to celebrate my son's high school graduation and after doing some searching online I choose DFA, and I am glad I did. I have done very little fly fishing before and my son even less but Dave had it all covered. We took a tree day trip and stayed 7 days total with them in their main cabin. The dry cabins were not complete when we arrived but buy the end of the week one was done and I am sure the others will be completed soon. My wife stayed in the cabin while we went on the trip and she enjoyed the small town of Talkeetna and the time she did not have to look after us. We came very early in the season but Dave was still able to put us on the fish.

Dave was very willing to answer any and all questions and communicated promptly by email or phone which ever I preferred.

Worth it? YES. I am saving for our next trip now which will be longer and in season.

Great property, great house and the best fishing guide around!

The property is on the spur road just outside of town. It's easy to find and easy to get to. When I last stayed there only the main house was on the property. At that time, the owners were getting ready to drill a well and build the Fishermens cabins. Nevertheless, it was a perfect base of operations for all my adventures. Most of the time, I would sit on the porch and enjoy The Alaskan woods that the property sits within. And while I never saw it, I heard stories and saw signs of moose coming through the property.

I would strongly suggest that you take the owners up on their offer to "stay and play" and go fishing with them. From day trips to nearby rivers for salmon or trout to overnight, fly out fishing trips, they can handle it and do it with style.

The town of Talkeetna is a gem with a surprising amount to do for such a small town. There are plenty of bars and resturaunts to check out, fun knick-knack shops, galleries, and a great brewpub with tasty locally brewed beers. There are places where you can hop in a river to wet your line for salmon or trout or take a jet boat tour for wildlife viewing. The local airports offer flight-seeing tours around the mountains where you can land on a glacier or even base camp of the tallest mountain in North America-Denali/McKinley. I've been going to Talkeetna since 1998 and I love it.

Our property is located just 3.5 miles from the quaint village of Talkeetna. Talkeetna offers an array of tourist activities including flight seeing around Denali ( N. Americas tallest mountain), jet boat tours, fishing excursions, rafting, hiking, sled dog tours, museums and a multitude of bars and restaurants. We are located just 2 hours south of Denali National Park making an easy day trip excursion from our property.
